Ah Jerez (was it not) during ther ace where Doohan overtakes Criville through the crowd on teh last corner, last lap?

Gaz

Yep mighty mick came in too hot forced him wide last turn (where another infamous incident occured 9 years later), then he high-sided out in the marbles......not unusual in less politically correct racing back then
<

He certainly isn't demonized for it........at least by Aussies

Welcome to the forum Devil. I think you win the best forum name award. Well done.

I think Rossi meant to buzz Stoner in hopes of intimidating him (brand Rossi racing) but he made a mistake and crashed, taken them both out. The difference is significant, but I'm not so sure it any better.

Its not only Stoner who think Vale has "ulterior motives". Despite a few websites and fans trying to put a positive spin on "the apology", most sane peeps are not buying it (and even worse the vilification attempt at Stoner witty response).

Anyway, I wish I would have had the presence of mind to come up with such a great forum name. I'm jealous.

Welcome aboard Prince of Darkness.

I am beginning to see the humorous side of all this, while you must be basking in a feeling of total vindication with pages and pages of hard evidence of how crazy some rossi fans are. Even roger on this occasion, who usually has some sense of perspective and a sense of humour, even more so in real-life from what you say. I strongly suspect he wasn't even watching the race when the incident occurred, given his initial justification for the failed pass included the need to chase down lorenzo who was already behind rossi, and not coming up with this thread until some time later.

The hand-clapping etc was dumb, I have no problem if they fine him, but such things are a natural and common reaction of riders in this circumstance. But to make it out to be a serious safety issue in the context of stoner all but going on the grass to let rossi by and still getting taken out by a stupid and reckless move re-defines ludicrous.

I think further world titles are going to be more difficult for valentino even apart from him being at ducati now, unless dorna go the whole way and start scripting things like wwe wrestling. Like tiger woods as well as having enormous talent part of his success has been due to a sense of entitlement bought into by his competitors; max, sete etc whether flawed or not did not really think they could beat him. Jorge and stoner at least are now no longer buying, and valentino knows, hence him not wanting to be bare-faced during the sham apology. (EDIT I will give him some benefit of the doubt for the apology given that as wayne gardner has said it may have been embarrassment that made him keep the helmet on).

Evolution, I'm glad you said this.

BTW, did you see the pics I put up to refute yours? (Based on what you just said, I can see why you don't think there was any favoritism. In fact, what the hell was that one stray marshal doing when it appeared he helped Stoner? That's one less guy helping Rossi.)

Yes I did, and I admited before that the marshals helped Rossi first, and that it was understandable since he was down and everyone, including race marshals have prefrences. But Stoner did get help, he got it fast, the whole thing took a few seconds, the race marshals were not ignoring Stoner like you say.

This is true but i would have thought with your sense of fair play you would have also mentioned you claimed simonchelli had already fallen

Hang those mothers up at track side and why wasn't the race red flagged by the authorities before they even go this part of the track

EDIT: ^^

Track staff announced it was the last lap when in fact there was still a lap to go. I think track invasions are stupid and at 1 time jerez were warned they could lose their place on the Callender because of it.

I think you will find Barry Rossi didnt touch Stoner in that pass.

Personally i think a fine for Stoner is a bit ridiculous, yes he is hot headed but then again he is a racer & to be taken out through no fault of your own, the loss of good points in a very tight championchip i think is punishment enough. I think Rog was just so pissed off at all the moronick boners around here spouting their ..... he thought up this thread to stab one back at em!

The apology - Well its not very often Rossi opens himself up to this sort of thing so i would say Casey took his chance while he could & got the dig in, why not Rossi has done many times, its all part of the game - get over it & march on to the next race.

Well 11 pages and nearly 3000 views proves the question needed asking. Opinion is prety much split down the middle. Plenty of rossi fans saying no fine and plenty of non rossi fans saying yes. should have made it a poll.

Oh Barry i thought you would of learnt by now to check things properly before posting on here otherwise people will tear you donw as "Lorenzofan did to me last year when i got it wrong -

Rossi was past Stoner when the front tucked, the bike slid out & left Casey know where to go.

Not Casey's fault, 110% Rossi's but you said he crashed into Casey & he didnt - Fact!

I make no claims to particular intelligence especially in comparison with you, but you won't win a memory contest, particularly with regard to my own posts. I claimed that I knew simoncelli would fall, not that he had fallen. It is still a claim obviously, but not the one you contend I made.

I have cooled down now, my anger was with the effect on stoner's season, when I (and I suspect he)would have been reasonably happy for rossi to win the race and for him to settle for a podium to help his championship, and also that he was apparently still in the wrong when your boy had done pretty well everything you guys criticise stoner for doing, whether or not he actually does it, having by the way called stoner a madman as recently as 2 weeks ago.

Sure, fine stoner if you like, but I don't see how the danger involved in his incursion which is entirely theoretical in any case is within orders of magnitude of actually having been taken out in the fashion he was.

Hey Pidgeon. Thanks for the post. Have seen all of the elite class for as long as I can remember and that clip of Mick D & Criville took me right back. Fantastic !!!!

As for the purpose of this thread .. what a complete load of ..... Another example of bopper central trying to place blame where it's not due.

I obviously have missed this, but where has this come from....i cba to trawl back over so many pages of forum threads to find anything.

It seems a bit mellodramatic to me.

Oh and in response to something else.....constantly using the word deliberately reckless is stupid.

You have to consider where rossi was placed in relation to his starting place.

I just think you old women need to chill out on this....its pure soap opera
<

If the powers that be would really be dumb enough to fine Stoner, I think we should collect money to reimburse every last penny. Not because he needs the cash, but to demonstrate that a lot of racing fans are fed up with this .....

And yes, I am willing to contribute some myself.
