Another word and mind wars (these are no games anymore) Just before Laguna Seca. Bring it on boys, make it the most exciting race of the year again.

Stoner: Rossi 'not a crippled hero'

"Everybody's going on like he's a crippled hero," Stoner said. "He has a pin in the leg, and the only problem is a bit of muscle.

"We've all been through injuries - myself, Jorge [Lorenzo] and Dani [Pedrosa] - and nobody ever talks about this. But when Valentino has an injury everybody talks about what a big difference it is.

"He did a fantastic job all weekend - he was getting faster and faster, and he did a really good job. But I think his biggest problem would've been just time off the bike.

"Even if you ask him, the leg wouldn't have been such a problem, it was just that he wasn't on the bike. Like for me last year, all the muscles are a little bit sore and this was probably the more difficult thing for him."

Stoner believes Rossi would not have risked returning to racing unless he was confident he would be competitive.

"He didn't come here just to roll around," said the Ducati rider. "We saw the lap times he was doing at Misano and at Brno. He was pretty fast enough at those tests.

"With a whole weekend's riding underneath his belt, it was impressive to see him fast enough and in the race he stepped it up again, maybe got the settings dialled in a little bit better and he was running a lot faster than us."

The two made slight contact as Stoner took third place from Rossi at the last turn.

"He made a big mistake blocking a lot at the bottom of the hill, so I went the other side, got a good run on the exit," Stoner explained. "On the last lap we knew we could outbrake him there.

"He just tried to tip in as early as possible, and I was already there. We had a bit of a touch and I tried not to hit him too much."

The Australian added that he had thoroughly enjoyed their dice.

"There were a lot of nice passes during the race there," said Stoner. "We were back and forward. I was trying to brake as late as I could and he was still coming past, and I'm sure it was the same for him. It was pretty much whoever got a good exit out of the previous corner was able to overtake."

I'm detecting some spite here. "only a pin" Try a ....... great rod inserted in the bone ! Maybe we should start calling stoner 'The Doctor' . This is rich coming from Lactose boy

Knew it was going to get a bit "moist" after this one

I agree with the crippled hero and playing it up for the sympathy bit. Stoner just talking straight.

Rossi having one of his trademark ......./sooks ......... ergo he's bacl to full health
<
<
<

Its pretty obvious that, even though the Boppers won't admit it, Stoner still has too uncomfortable good a performance against Rossi..
<

Can't wait for Stoner on Honda
<

Oh Casey
<

Please somebody shut him up.......! Do we really need to hear this .... from someone with such a bad public image.....

I suggest that Casey goes through a Compound fracture of the leg, with bone protrusion of the skin and comeback to nearly full competitiveness after six weeks before he throws this .... around. I've been through similar injuries and let me say-its .......

Of course many riders and drivers have gone through something similar and returned well-we know. Casey needs to accept that Rossi was massively popular and dominating Motogp well before he came along and still is-of course there is going to be a big hoohah about his very quick and successful return.

Even if he feels this way-surely its much better PR to not downplay and criticize the World champs return like this, especially when your already know as a ...... This guy is his own worst enemy. Journos must love him-they are always there to clean up the .... flying out of his mouth
<

I really appreciated CS's riding yesterday as it was brilliant-but ....... comments like this makes me dislike him even more.

I suggest he adopt the PR style of 'The Stig'

Yes Stoner would not be very good on the Tellytubbies or Sesame street ......... thank christ
<

Oh Casey

It hasn't occurrd to you that alongside the "gushy", "needy", "maudlin" "sooky, "bitchy" storyline that goes with the Boppers and their undying love for their idol, ...........

the show needs a "baddy"

and Stoner is certainly the "baddest thing of all" for the Boppers, ie. to the Boppers he is "The BOAT"
<
<
<

Good pass on Rossi by Stoner - tough but nothing Rossi wouldn't have done to Stoner. Not bad for the SOAT (Sookiest Of All Time)
<

Good ride from Rossi, better than I expected.

Good to see someone other than Lorenzo win. Pretty damn eventful weekend. Everytime I hear about someone breaking a vertebra it reminds me of how close any of them are from complete disaster and that people do die/can be crippled doing their job.

Congrats to Pedro. Finally came from behind to win.

Nicky looked good but stalled forward progress after 2nd start. Decent but not good enuf. Ducs still .... (only the silly ignorants around here think its par). If u hav to put wings on ur bike to try and solve a front end issue, ur .......

Oh im laffin my ... off at the Boppers in a tizzy over Casey's "hard move". Haha. He gav Rossi a country mile of space, but they'd like us to think he 'punted' the GLOTE like hes actually done to others via contact. Ah, and if u homos dont remember, Rossi talk .... about Elias for a similar move. So u dont need to go imagining anything, its in the record.

But most of all, im laffin my ... off at the flustered Boppers (Talpass, Inapt, Stoody, etc) for Caseys comments.i guess Rossi is the only rider to hav riden with a broken bone. Casey was right on point with his answer, its the Bopper version of media hype. But what do u expect, they love to stupify for the benefit of the lowest common denomonator of Boppers. But he was right, Rossi thow comendable did nothing different than Lorenzo, Elias, Etc. Bit the Boppers would like us to think he came back from the brink of death, fought his way out fro Hades, and cured cancer & solved world hunger. Superbikeplanet had a cool headline when Rossi tested last week. It said (paraphrasing) 'Rossi tested and plans to walk on water...if he wants to' haha. The man is amazing, but is about as ballsy as many other determined riders. Thats a fact lost on Bopper who only think their Hero is capable of this display of willpower. Its not that the man isnt great, its how his Worshippers perceive reality thats hilarious in all this.

The Boppers will hereafter call the manuevour " The Tamworth T-Bone" ( Yum ! )

hard move!!

you could almost imagine Stoner taking out a feather duster, and placing it between them, to protect Rossi as he "whisped by".

Once again Junkie you've misunderstood the English language. I thought it was a good pass on Rossi by Stoner. Which part of my post didn't you understand?

As for the rest, you're really not too bright are you. You must have the IQ of one of Stoner's turds.

You are a true ......., go and visit that website i am sure you will find some useful information along side bullshitter and for once read the post carefully before posting your rubbish as usual. None of us have any problem with Casey's move actually every body loved the fight between Rossi and Casey.

I thought it was a good pass on Rossi by Stoner. Which part of my post didn't you understand?

I understood that part, (which was actually surprising you were for a moment not blinded by your Stoner hate), the rest was preemptive, as I appropriately lump you in to the Bopper Stoner hating bottom dwelling members, or are you sooking from the pass despite your silly attempt not to expose your true take o Stoner. Tell me, what do you think of Stoner's post race comments about Rossi media hype? (rhetorical, I already know)

I suggest he adopt the PR style of 'The Stig'

I think this was what is commonly known as ...-for-tat talpa, after valentino's reported jibe that stoner would have cried if valentino had pulled the last corner move on him, which is actually a disguised whinge; no-one has ever claimed that stoner remotely approaches rossi for subtlety in his public pronouncements. I am sure rossi if not stoner is deliberately trying to spice up the show in any case.

It is literally true that pedrosa and lorenzo have raced with similar injuries, although I can't recall stoner himself doing so. Whilst valentino's injury could have been a catastrophic mick-doohan like injury through good physiology, good management, luck or very likely a combination of all three it has proved not to be so. The impressive thing for me was that valentino rode like it had never happened, as did stoner as he was entitled to once valentino had decided to participate. I actually doubt that stoner would have put a pass that hard on pedrosa or lorenzo, but valentino has very clearly laid the ground rules for dices between him and casey.

If I were jorge I would be hoping valentino decides to ride for the team, as with a little more conditioning valentino will obviously be back to race winning pace very soon.
