ROSSI THREATENS WITHDRAW

No, it is you that should be welcome - a century is different and you stated decade and as I posted the list of decades clears shows 2010 as the start of the decade ...

There is indeed variable opinions and texts on when is a decade

Some state that the first year as AD1 as thus a decade runs 1 - 10 with other texts stating that 0 - 9 is the correct definition of a decade. A number of these texts also make mention that a decade can be defined by the second last numeral of the year and thus 2010 by essence of the 1 is a different decade to 2009.

It all depends on who you read and where you get the information but I stand by mine and no doubt you by yours.

I like the explanation I came across on one site - does a child celebrate their 10th birthday on the tenth anniversary of their birth or the eleventh?

Came to this thread quite late but here's my 2 cents. If Lorenzo wins this year, there is no way they will keep Rossi over him, plain and simple. Sure they want to sell Rossi gear, but the #1 goal of Yamaha racing has to be racing results.

I'm being optimistic.

Never.
See thread titled Normal for Yamaha to prefer Rossi. But I warn you, don't read past post #51 or you will be sucked down a worm hole.

Kur, how are they (Yamaha) going to know who will win the title between now an the first few races of this season?

Wow this forum is so funny (i think it's a select bunch of professional trolls/haters)

Situation:
Yamaha says they will renew 1 of the 2 riders, do we know any details? Does it mean the other needs to go? In my opinion it does sound like Yamaha is in front of a fork and needs to make a choice.

Rossi just said that if they do opt to go for Lorenzo, he'll retire after 2016 which is the end of the season that is starting. What is the big deal? If yamaha takes that call, it means they are investing in Lorenzo future (and they would be right) but that also means that there probably won't be equality in the paddock and Rossi is no ones 2nd rider.

If anything he shows his colors upfront.

I don't get why you all got your panties in a bunch.. lol

So your definition of trolling in a forum on which you have made 12 posts is the posting of opinions which differ from yours?

Let me guess, in your view Jorge and MM conspired to steal last year's title from Valentino as well.

If Lorenzo comes out of the box with some wins and Rossi is struggling for 4th or 5th, making excuses about why the bike isn't working for him, I think they'll get a good sense of who will be competitive for the year.

Also, as intelligent as the management of a successful company like Yamaha must be, I don't believe that they are so shortsighted as to give up their potential for future victories into the coming years for a couple years of merchandising.

It might be interesting to see people's opinions on this. Maybe make a poll: Who thinks Yamaha would choose Rossi and who thinks they'd choose Lorenzo if they had to make the decision right now. I think it'd be Lorenzo.

Define WHO in Yamaha is choosing .............. Marketing or Racing departments?

If Marketing then clearly Rossi as he is worth dollars today and into the future post retirement ............. the interesting and pertinent point may be whether he would allow Yamaha to use his image to sell product or whether he would move all image rights to his own personal company and charge exorbitantly back for use of the image

In short, Yamaha would want to lock in a long term 'use of likeness or image' type of contract well before Rossi leaves else I suspect that he will become a little difficult to deal with in terms of use of the image and will expect a payment for use (and that is all perfectly reasonable in business)

Racing - Lorenzo. He is the future as he has more years left than does Rossi (and one can deduce this from Rossi's talk of retirement if he does not start the year well, versus Lorenzo not having mentioned retirement at all). Plus Lorenzo has produced over the last few years in terms of championships and results which is what a racing department wants

Lorenzo being signed first by Yamaha is going to be the only thing that stops Rossi from getting his 10th title for certain.

Though I would keep an eye on Marc Marquez at this point since it's looking like HRC found a bit in the bike's electronics at the Phillip Island test yesterday. We'll see where things stand after today, and then what the Losail test looks like.

Personally, given that he has almost certainly matured in his racing approach during 2015, I'd never discount Marquez.

Once a goat, always a goat...

Not really, as time continues, if another rider is better, then HE will be considered the greatest of all time. How many people in the 70's vs today regarded Fangio as the GOAT in F1? I'm betting a lot more.

Try sparrows amazing lube it works wonders.

You'll have to ask #22 what it taste like.

Like Rossi's tears. No actually it's Strawberry.

Thing is - we don't know that the two things are necessarily tied to one another. Yamaha may well negotiate the two things separately. Strategically it would be to Rossi's financial benefit to have a good deal in place for marketing post retirement and he has to know that's coming soon. He couldn't bump Lorenzo from the team prior to his Ducati fiasco and now he's that much older with no new titles and his power to bargain is waining. If he has another meltdown/negative publicity fiasco this year his bargaining power could well decrease further.

Relationships can change abruptly when stuff goes sour. Look how quickly Stoner cut his ties with Honda after a few incidents.
