Yamaha extends Rossi contract to 2018

Keeping his mouth shut? Like when he goaded Lorenzo to increase tensions at Yamaha by saying it would take balls to sign for Ducati? That kind of "keeping your mouth shut"? Or the kind of keeping your mouth shut when asked about the open disrespect shown to riders and he said "Booing, I don't know anything about this."?

"However, the past weekend not only offered the best values that motorcycling racing carries in its DNA, as we could also see some of the worst, an echo of everything that we lived in the final part of last season.

We saw Valentino say that Jorge is not brave enough to sign for Ducati. Later, we saw the war of words between them and they even had a clash on track during the final practice session."

"It is obvious that Rossi has more fans on his side than anyone, but I don't think it's good for the sport to live things like what we saw in Qatar, both on the track and on the podium, where Marc and Jorge were booed after such an incredible race. I felt shame and I would like to think that Valentino felt it too."

I'm scared to think what's next, I don't even want to imagine it. We've seen it in football but this, gentlemen, is a different thing."

"The only thing that I want is for someone to do something and bring some sanity into all this." Randy Mamola

Randy Mamola: The two sides of Valentino Rossi

Dunno Jumks.
When stood back and looking in the "Big balls to sign at Ducati" is quite an accurate statement. Especially if you look at just how many careers is has sent down the spiral slope post Stoner,
Don't get me wrong, I do believe he was trying to twang strings but you cannot hang a guy for saying something that is actually correct.
Ask any rider on the grid which bike they would like, I'd doubt many would say the Duc and most would say Yam, Going from the best IMO to the joint second or third worst bike on the grid will take balls.
And I'm sure a few of us impartial viewers would have thought exactly the same thing when the announcement came out.
I know I did.;)

Hahaha, Red! You've ruined me mate. Well played.

Content Warning: Look ....... (.)(.)

Why is it a problem? Because it is impossible to discuss the current season without someone referring to the SNS or Sepang meltdown or Rossi's ownership of Dorna . That is my issue, oh and Kropotkin put a poll on and basically got insulted as the thread descended into farce.
I'm not a member of any other forums.
Again, if adherents to Rossi's late 2015 season conspiracy theory were to cease booing riders on the podium and cheering when riders crash out at every race we might stop objecting to him, his conspiracy theory, and them. While this continues to cast a pall over 2 of the best riders out there, including the one I particularly favour in Jorge Lorenzo, that is an issue which I can't and certainly do not choose to ignore.

Kropotkin can more than handle himself against anyone on here, and comes here mainly for light relief as his "poll" clearly was, and sometimes when he has new information or suspicions which he doesn't consider sufficiently substantiated to post on his own site, but can't keep to himself, which is usually very interesting for this forum, particularly since he is mostly correct.

I think the best thing Valentino could do for the sport is to make a sincere appeal, asking his fans to support him by cheering his moves and podiums, but respect his rivals by not booing, heckling them and cheering their crashes.
This alone would do wonders for his global persona and may even restore the appeal for him that some fans had prior to "the incident".
Really and truly the guy is on a win win situation, such an appeal would garner so much good publicity, the press worldwide would be all over it.
He would be heralded as the hero who restored honour to MotoGP in an instant.

Agree entirely and hope he does, but not sure he will otherwise he would of done it by now. But we can hope for the good of the sport and fans
