OK, so reading past the sarcasm, you mean to tell me that, just because they both have 1 championship each, it means they are on the same level? Unless Fabio has drastic fall in skill level, he will be in much greater demand than Mir.
Or maybe I'm missing something

In two more years if his results stay the same, I don't see very much demand for Fabio. But I see none for Mir. It's not about where I rate Mir and Fabio to each other but to the other riders in motogp. In two more years a lot of riders are going to have better results than Fabio making Fabio a higher risk with lower stock. He has pretty much made his bed and he has to sleep in it. In two years I see his only option being yamaha or a satellite team.

And one of them will be trying to take Crafar's job because he needs to work. The other just re-upped his contract for 12m/year and will be awash in hookers n' blow in the south of France. 🤣
haha I know which one I'd rather be.

Fair enough.
Not sure who said Mir took the money option by going to Honda, but was that not his only choice at he time? My memory is not the best on this, but there wasn't really any available rides when Suzuki left was there?

I did say that. I can't recall if he had other choices but I said he wouldn't do well on the honda because the bike was already looking like trash. If he could have gone to satellite ducati, aprilia, or ktm I knew it would be a better fit for his corner speed style of riding. At that point he was the best available rider and I feel like he would have had options even if we didn't hear about it.

FQ is fast, fast enough to worry prime pre-injury MM, but flaky imo. He should have done better prior to his title year, and definitely should have done better the year after. I don’t like Mir much, and sure don’t rate him anywhere near FQ as far as riding talent goes, but put him on FQ’s bike for the rest of the season when FQ’s lead was greatest and he wins the title given that lead imo, pointless though hypotheticals are. I can’t rate someone who threw away that lead as a top echelon rider. He might have had a shot on an Aprilia, but unless Yamaha come up with something of the quality of their 2004 bike I can’t see him winning a title again with the talent now in the field, including Acosta who is several years younger.

People seem blinded by the 'Factory Repsol Honda' colours. Look at Pol. He was contending for race wins on the KTM so in effect, took a backwards step.

Planning two years ahead is something that I believe was included before Quartararo accepted the deal. My guess is that Quartararo will retire at the end of 2026 and – if the M1 then is still uncompetitive – by august of that year, start to ride like Marquez did during the end of his stint with Honda.

Yamaha to test completely new MotoGP bike at Jerez

Don't know what to think about this. We're only several races in and they've built a completely brand new M1? That's insane.

Maybe this is why Fabio chose to stay, he thinks the project will succeed.

I guess we'll see after Sunday what the deal is.
If Pfizer can formulate a brand new vaccine against a deadly disease in 100 days why shouldn’t Yamaha be able to knock a new bike out in a few weeks? After all Yamaha had a bike to start with. 🤣

Quartararo says it's true, they have all the parts to make a new bike. Says they'll test all the new parts separately so they understand whats working, not all together like a whole new bike.

I take it they’ve only tested the seat so far then eh? 😬
