ROSSI THREATENS WITHDRAW

Double standards in play as usual.

I'm sure those two sacks of .... known as Gardner and Read think Rossi's threats are indicative of his true upstanding moral character.

Just wait till he gets into any semblance of a battle with Marc Marquez this year.

He'll probably be throwing a spike strip out at MM.

Watch out for him tossing marbles this season. I would be willing to bet he has uccio scoping out every track where the camera has less view.

Thanks for the insight Krops.

That link to the article you post doesn't say Honda are looking to replace Marquez, but rather they speculate with all the trouble the bike has experienced, should Marquez consider leaving there is a cast of riders that could replace him: Maverick Viñalez, Alex Rins, and Tito Robat

That's how I'm reading it as well. I said a while back that Rossi finally leaving GP was going to be an ugly affair and it is headed that way.

My hope is the uglier he makes it, Yamaha gets fed up with it and tells him to .... off.

Actually here's an even better hypothetical.

Imagine if Yamaha announced without telling Rossi that they signed both Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner for 2017?

Really does make one wonder all the stuff VR pushed for when nobody was noticing or caring about Motorhome meetingate. Lets not forget, VR left Yamaha in a public way, privy we were to the tantrum, at least the part we got to see, I'm sure it was all very ugly. But what about the ...., big and small, that we weren't paying attention? Before the GP world shifted at Sepang911.

Or Lorenzo, Marquez, or even better, Stoner , Marquez

Regarding Rossi, shady source or not, do you think VR is using his considerable influence to keep Lorenzo as his teammate?

I don't think Rossi wants Yamaha to keep Lorenzo, but I'm fairly sure Rossi is realistic about his sway. He knows Yamaha needs Lorenzo.

EDIT:

Lorenzo wants to sign a new contract with Yamaha at Qatar. He also said this at the launch in Barcelona.

Thank you said it best...

No out going goat wants a new stud around...

But, he has to realize it is best for the team..

Just as George has to realize having the old man around is best for the team as well...

And at the end of the day, what is best for the team puts dollar bills in the pocket.

Rossi hasn't been a GOAT in years.

Again his last title was in 2009. That was 7 years ago almost now.

If he wasn't Dorna's chosen one, he would have been in a midfield or even backmarker by now.

Having Rossi around is not what is best for the team by any stretch of the imagination.

The team didn't want him back for 2013.

Think about it, with Stoner retiring, Rossi couldn't even get HRC to touch him in spite of all of his supposed marketing benefits that sells motorcycles, even though no numbers support this ridiculous assertion.

Thanks Kropo.

Its an Italian site, I wonder if I can trust them reporting on the Spaniard.

(I'm kidding)

I had read somewhere Rossi wanted a two year deal or nothing, did I read that or dream it up? I'm trying to find article, but I'm still searching.

Yamaha negotiators best bring flame suits to the table. I'm wondering if Ducati are stretching out their testicles, err I mean tentacles to get a feel for what big name would do the unthinkable. (I know VR wouldn't, but some top Spaniard. ..?)

Once a goat, always a goat...

You are right, he has fell off over the last few years (few of these years where a .... bike).. But when finishing 2nd in the champions is a bad season, that says something about the GOATness...

Not a conspiracy kind of guy, so don't buy the Dorna stuff..

Like him or hate him, guy can still ride better than 95% of the field..

Whinner, yes. Over hyped, yes. Fans are barts, yes. Spoiled, possibly. One of the best, yes. Still one of the goats in his twilight of his career doing his best to make one more run...

Rossi told Italian TV he would see after the first few races, then make a decision, either 2 years or retirement. I think 2 years would be a mistake. Another year, I could see.

You don't have to buy the Dorna stuff, but it's true.

Think for a second...

In the second decade of the 21st century, the only race winners to be found are riding either a factory Yamaha or factory Honda.

A satellite bike has not won a grand prix in 10 years....

The last factory bike to win a grand prix was Ducati at Phillip Island 2010....

Being on a factory M1 or RCV gives you automatically a 1:4 chance to contend for a race victory.

17 other riders have zero chance from the moment the flag drops.

How is that really riding better than 95% of the field, when the field save 3 other riders has 0% chance?

Unless you put the rest of the field on M1's or RCV's, you cannot even reasonably make the claim he rides better than 95% of the field.

Rossi rode faster than 50% of the field on a FACTORY Ducati. :)

Correct. 100% spot on with the factory to satellite numbers. Non-factory bikes really don't have a chance to win. Can not argue that.

With that said.. Did Stoner win on a satellite? (This is the only honest question of the bunch, but don't think he rode a satellite bike.) Has George? Has Marky? Has Pedro? But yet everyone agrees those riders are he best. But none of them have beat Baz on a satellite bike.

At the end of the day, you have to believe the cream will raise to the top. The factory is going to put the best riders in their seats. The ones that are going to give them the best chance to win. Win = Money

Yes.. There is a large amount of faith given to the polks with the money that talent will win over corporate ........., but in today's MotoGP, it is what it is.

When Cry-Rossi signed the last deal, I honestly do believe he was still one of the best options. Even if you say he was not the 4th best, he still had to be at least the 6th best and brought 10 million more dollars to Yamaha over the 4th and 5th guys.

And, at the end of the day.. It is a business..

Pedantic I know, but 2010 was the start of the second decade in the century of 2000 and I recall a certain Ducati that won races that year. :p

21st century began January 1, 2001.

2010 was the last year of the first decade.

2011 was the first year of the second decade.

Boom.
