what would be better for Elias long term?  If he were to come to Fiat Yam temporarily and not perform well he could very well end his chances of returning to the GP paddock.  If however he chose to remain in M2 to complete the season and wins the M2 championship I suspect he'd be all but guaranteed another GP run for 2011 with a CONTRACT for the entire season.   Perhaps the decision is not as black and white as many of us think.....or perhaps it is?  I just don't know but I suspect the M2 champion would certainly earn a GP seat.  A poor showing on the "best bike on the grid" might prove less helpful than simply winning the M2 title?

Thoughts?

I had a thought last night:  Why can't Toni race in BOTH series?  It would make for a long day, but I bet he could pull it off.

At the very least, offer him the ride at Laguna, where the Moto2 bikes won't be running.

Not currently legal I believe (other than laguna).

this is the biggest loose to moto gp and the fans , rossi is moto gp but the show will go on but not the same . cant belive this has happened , sad day . all the best and dont come back till 100% fit .

Thats bollocks, Rossi is not motogp. He is a very marketable part of motogp but he is not the sport. The show existed before him and it will exist after him. The crowds my dwindle for a while in some country's but not all. When i went to Valencia the pedrosa fans out numbered the rossi fans, look at the amount of people today in the Ducati stands !

some sucking up going on.

"Rossi"

"I have had a pin inserted into my leg and tomorrow (Monday) they will close and stitch the wound. Then we will wait and begin a good rehabilitation programme," added Rossi, who received loads of messages of support including one from his Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo calling him a 'legend'.

Rossi conceded that watching the crash again on a replay had not been a nice experience.

"They were difficult moments because it was a bad crash and a bad injury," said Rossi, who had before Sunday never missed a race in his career at Mugello and won there nine times in 14 races.

"I've watched the accident again and to see how my ankle looked was not a good feeling. There were a few moments of fear, but now I'm doing well."

However, the irrepressible Rossi - the last Honda rider to triumph at Mugello in 2003 before Dani Pedrosa won there on Sunday - couldn't restrain himself from seeing the funny side of matters.

"Now I can say my morale is reasonably high because I've discovered I have a great rapport with morphine!"

Your not alone big guy, most of us have a GREAT rapport with morphine. When i had my knee replaced, i woke up on morphine. Had a little clicker in my hand and they told me to click the button when i was really in pain. I was hitting that thing like i was playing a video game until the nurse told me it will only dispense so much in a certain amount of time. I told her to bring me some percosets for the in between times.

I dont think Yamaha will Dare to put Spies on Rossi's bike, (EVEN if they could and the Rookie rules allowed it)

They will take a high risk of losing Vale for good. Edwards at this moment seems the most right one for Yamaha and Rossi.

So what your saying is , they shouldnt put anyone on the bike that is capable of running up front to preserve Rossi's negotiating postion.

If he cant shine on the best bike in the paddock, why would he deserve another shot at GP.

No, that's how you read it. I say that's the out come i see.

Though i,m not sure if only Spies is capeable of doeing nice things on that bike.

Knowing (or feeling) that Rossi doesn't like Spies, i think Yamaha wont do such a thing.

Why didn't they show a clear video of the crash?

We could see it a lot better when Lorenso had a few crashes.

I dont believe that they haven't had a camera there, stupid dorna.

The cameras were following Nicky Hayden behind Rossi at the time so they missed it.

Whilst I realise a lot of people on this site are in love with Rossi, and it's sad that he's out for a lot of races, he is after all the benchmark, the fact is he broke his leg. It's motorcycle racing and injuries of this nature happen quite often. Get over it. Seriously, if I didn't know better, I would have thought he was in a coma fighting for his life. It's a broken leg!!!! He has had a brilliant run for almost 15 years, never missing a GP.

He'll be back, as good as ever I believe. Most probably after the summer break. (And I believe Lorenzo's podium 46 shirt was as cynical an exercise as they come).

Is Spies even able to run in the factory team this season?

Doesn't the rookie rule come into play? Meaning rookies cannot run in factory team?

Or do the few one off rides last year & the year before mean he is not counted as a rookie now?

I reckon if I saw a bone sticking out my leg I might be inclined to overdose on the pain killers myself.

Sheesh that must of hurt big time.

as far as i know, he is considered a rookie

what is a: fracture of right tibia and perone?

his Knee or his leg?

it sucks big time for us, Rossi fans.

but these things always can happen in such high speed racing, and he has been lucky untill now.

Edit:

I saw a little film on you tube, is it this? if yes he is finished for this year's championship

tibia is the long shinbone, the one you always bang on sharp edges and feel excruciating pain. That's a bad one. My buddy broke his skiing a handrail this winter and got a titanium rod put in. He was out and doin physio for 2 months. The estimated missing of 4 races I heard from the commentators sounds optimistic. Eiher that or being a professional athlete he's expected to start racing before full recovery. Regardless even as a skilled pro who's mentally sharp his kind of mcident stays in the brain forever. At his age this may sadly be a turning point for valentino.

And shouldn't these threads have had some sort of spoiler alert? Holy crap "rossi's broken tibia" kinda says a lot lol
