Fans of other riders want rossi to be there, even apart from the opportunity to see his riding artistry and tactical mastery, because wins against him by other riders have extra significance. This is because he is the benchmark, not because we hate him, and I am sure the other riders have the same attitude. I would not necessarily see some rossi fans as illustrative of a similar benchmark in terms of being motogp fans though.

I do feel extra sympathy for valentino with this injury because I have a rough idea how painful it was, and because I suspect his bike tried to kill him, as not uncommonly seems to be the case with dorna's wonderful 800c safety formula. The news on his injury with them closing the wound after only two days sounds very good btw, and he may now have a recovery time similar to a severe closed fracture; they would not have closed it if the wound did not look clean or if there was likely to be ongoing soft-tissue swelling, suggesting the soft tissue injury component may not have been too severe and they are not concerned about contamination of the wound/infection.

Since others have perhaps inevitably brought stoner into a thread concerning valentino's injury, which I would not have done, I will comment that if an injury or illness is disabling it is disabling whatever its nature. When stoner did have an orthopaedic problem verified by clinica mobile, with X-ray evidence and for which he required surgery this was also dismissed as an excuse. As an aside, it did look to me that someone closely resembling casey stoner and riding a ducati fought to the last corner on sunday for 4th place in a race he had no chance of winning, a circumstance where he apparently felt the need to feign illness last year.

i'm not surprised there is a lack of Stoner support. if i was a Stoner fan i would have left the site because of all the crap they and Stoner take. or at least not say anything.

Well they were all quite keen and vocal when he was winning, but when the wins dried up so did a lot of his support. We call those people plastic fans !

Well it looks like its Miller healing time. Nice of him to assure his fans that he will return as poor Evo was thinking he might retire.

BTW, so it looks like he will stay with Yamaha. So Lorenzo will be either on Honda or dare I say, Ducati. Will be odd if he does win the title and they put him on chop block anyway...

Jum, can't see that happening. Lin Jarvis wants to retain both drivers especially in current circumstances we can't blame him as well.

Lin Jarvis quote"Fortunately we have Jorge with us, and the strategy of having two big guns, we are now seeing the benefits of that strategy in this very unfortunate circumstance.”

hmmm........Rossi wants to race for many more years (he didn't say race MotoGP) and his #1 priority is to learn English. Like learning the names of car parts?

Is it just me, or does this sound like a move to F1? I know he lives in England (maybe he wants to move to the US where he is unknown?), but he's never really cared about his English until now. Plus, the rumors about Rossi to F1 have never been more prevalent. Coincidence?

This injury has kinda really cemented Rossi at Yam. Can't see him risking a move now. Nor can I see Honda wanting him injured. Ducati seem almost suicidal at times, in their hiring plans, so maybe they might still push for it?

You know I'd like to see Lorenzo go Honda, or Duc., and Stoner go Yam. I have the funny feeling Rossi is more amenable to that idea these days, and may be ready to make a gracious "handover", ie. If rossi were to pull out I'm sure he would like to see his team guys go somewhere they would like to be ...... Stoner. Burgess may retire, but thereat of the guys are still young ... ish.

Also I would love to see Stoner on the Yam.

didn't he moved back to Italy already? what with the tax issues and stuffs. and also why he was transported to Cattolica because the hospital is nearer his home?

Don't kid yourself Baz, Honda would still want Rossi with 1 leg missing...

Yes, and I agree with j4rno that ducati becomes more likely, but only if they/marlboro etc can convince valentino and burgess they will have the resources for a winning bike; I am sure valentino would enjoy developing another bike to beat jorge whilst leaving jorge to develop the next yamaha himself, and as others have said the formula change will mean all the marques are starting to some extent from scratch when it comes in. I had previously thought that the rossi as lifelong yamaha icon thing would be too compelling for yamaha to let him go.

No, that's how you read it. I say that's the out come i see.

Though i,m not sure if only Spies is capeable of doeing nice things on that bike.

Knowing (or feeling) that Rossi doesn't like Spies, i think Yamaha wont do such a thing.

Where did you get the idea that Rossi doesn't like Spies?
