Motogp GB silverstone Rnd-5..SPOILERS

What a fantastic days racing we`ve had.Silverstone did an excellent job today. It was bloody elation for me to see Ben Spies take a third at the expense of Nicky (I`m a fan of both ,so it really didn`t matter which way round).

Moto 2 was just plain crazy, well done Scott Redding and not forgetting Bradley in the 125`s..........................I`m still amazed at the days racing we`ve had and a little lost for words ,or just in complete awe of it all.

Well thats been a days racing! Have to wonder, when Schwantz retired they retred the no 34, when Nicky retires, will they retire 4th place? Jorge, awesome, clinical display, I'm spoiled being a fan of both Rossi and Lorenzo, and to be honest I think the title was beginning to look a lot like Lorenzo's, whether Vale was racing or not. The guy is awesome. Can't wait to see what Vale is going to do when he comes back and is fully fit again. Stoner? what this time, tyres? chatter? front? inability to handle being beaten? toys out of pram? Whatever, his team mate is making him look second rate, and that is not good enough.

Moto2 awesome as ever, it's like pro am lc racing for the 21st century.

Watching Spies at the post race interview was a little eerie. I know in the back of his mind he was thinking

that the finish was somewhat "gifted" by virtue of Rossi's absence and Stoner blowing the start - but still

you'd think he'd be a bit more celebratory. Never having seen King Kenny in any post race interviews

(as there were none broadcast in the USA back in the day) I can only speculate - but I suspect he was

much the same. Doubtless he will party later. Champagne and .... stars anyone?

now that was some exciting ....!!! great racing on a grat track! jorge's win was fully expected but what took place behind was outstanding! really good ride from dovi although i was so hoping nicky & ben could a got around him but he just turned it up enough to keep him at bay. i knew this could be a good day for spies being it was a new track for all... did not expect a podium tho... brilliant! ohhh nick that one little bobble..... the pain..... jumkie burst a vessle on that 1
<
now casey i think had he not blow the start would more than likely finnished 2nd...... woulda shoulda coulda don't count but none the less it was simply stunning to watch him come from last to 5th! he will turn this season around! i really was hopin to see randy get that podium... he has really turned things around & i think that he'll get it before this season ends. dani lost all his confidence after the crashes & i figured he was gonna struggle. simoncelli is coming better... good ride by him........................... only 3 days till assen.... the season is finally here!!!
<
........................... oh yeah & the moto2 & 125s were of the hook as well!!! damn great weekend!!!

I've got to think this may be one of Stoner's best performances ever. To come from last to 5th is an amazing accomplishment. He showed a great deal of heart to pull that off and run the kind of consistent laps it took to catch and pass virtually the entire field. That was almost more impressive than a win although with far less satisfaction.

The other significant event we're witnessing is the resurgence of Hayden and Dovi. Dovi appears to be salvaging his career. After last season, there were plenty predicting a departure from GP for Dovi while now he appears to be on form and consistent.

Oh please, 15 riders started, 13 finished, one obliged by falling off when Stoner was behind him, and Pedrosa was injured and in reverse! He also got beaten fair and square by his team mate, and wasn't in the same race as Lorenzo. Doesn't sound so heroic now does it?

I'd be very surprised if Stoner is thinking this is one of his most impressive days racing.

as much as I don't care for him, Casey was impressive today. If it would have not been for that bogg at the start of the race he could have gave Jorge a challenge which would have made for a more entertaining race. Hopefully he keeps it up and is able to give lorenzo a challenge at assen.

44444 poor Nicky can't seem to get out of that number he raced awesome today, but unfortunately Ben got him at the end . Im excited for next week because Nicky has always been strong at Assen. This might be his first podium and if the Duc is up to par he might even be able to fight for a win.

Ben rode a good race and earned that podium, Most guys are thrilled when they get there first Moto Gp podium but not the Pie man.

Whats up with Suzuki? I know they have always sucked, but now it's getting ridiculous. Loris has 3 DNF's and Bautista cant even run in the top 10. when the Camera cut to Paul Dening he just made a stupid face like "I don't know" Suzuki should fire that guy asap.

Poor Randy, He rode his ... off all week, but couldn't muster anything up at the end. He's been impresive all season and hopefully he can sneak on to the podium some time soon

He was on the coverage of the motogp race on free to air TV in australia, with quite extensive discussion before and after the race where he was asked many of the obvious questions, which he appeared to answer honestly without giving too much away on some questions.

He did directly say that ferrari would provide a third car for valentino, with the rather large qualifications that this was if the F1 rules allowed it and valentino wanted to go.

I think Ferrari legitimately want Vale to go, but I think Vale and Burgess are just grandstanding to get more Dorna money. I've suspected for quite some time that Vale is paid either paid directly by Dorna or he's at least privvy to the negotiations pertaining to his commercial value. The only way to get Dorna to pay big bucks is to pretend like he is on the brink of leaving. He's been pitting Dorna against Ferrari for quite some time. I think this whole song and dance started in 2007 when he probably felt like he had to go to F1 in order to cover his tax liabilities and still have the lifestyle he wanted. He was probably genuinely pissed about the 800s. Since then, he obtained Bridgestone tires for himself, and he's been talking to the press candidly about expanding GP into new markets. It sounds like he is part of the revenue-sharing commercial contracts.

Anyway, I'm gutted for H4yden. Maybe later this year he'll be Nicky Hayd3n. He needs some podiums.

Great ride by Spies and all of the guys in the battle for second place. Stoner put on one hell of a ride to get back to 5th. DePuniet looked like he smoked his tires. Lorenzo was masterful out front. After some fairing bashing on the first few laps, he pulled away with no problem. He's taking a 37pt lead into Assen.

Only 6 days until we get more racing

Score one for objective evaluation from the Rossi-Box.

Remember what some people were saying about it not being fair to put Spies in Rossi's seat because it was unfair pressure?

He knows that third would have been a fourth with a healthy Rossi and Stoner not bogging it on the start. He had to be thinking

about people's expectations come Assen and Laguna.. Remember how excited people were for Toesland who came in... what

was it? I forget 6th at Qatar and how quickly he was dissed and dismissed when he didn't live up to the public's expectations.

After today - there will be pressure.

And what about all us Hayden fans who have been praising Spies (as long as he didn't make Hayden look bad) for so long.

I predict that there are going to be some conflicted American fans.
<
It was clear that Spies would leave Edwards in the dust

- but not Nicky.
<

Re: Depuniet.... a shame he didn't podium. He was impressive. But I really feel like if he didn't do it today, what with his little racing school excursion a few weeks ago, and the equalizing factor of it being a new track to all, I don't think it's going to happen.

Lorenzo needs a rival!

Not an easy mission right now...
<

Dovi is not up to it (yet... maybe in the future). Pedrobot can ride at that level, but does not seem to be able to do it consistently (as usual -- one could have some hopes for him after Mugello, but he seems to be back to normal).

Maybe Honda needs some further improvement as well.

Stoner... some light at the end of the tunnel. Does he like making things difficult for himself?
<

Great ride from Spies, as expected, in spite of some level of injury suffered in his crash during the tests.

Bravo Hayden, -- and De Puniet!

Clinical display from Lorenzo, some great battles for 2nd and 3rd positions. Good ride by Casey today i think 2nd would have been real possibility for him if he didn't stuck behind Dani for 4 or 5 laps and what you can say about Ben all you have do is just look where Colin finished(although i know he is not feeling well) and that will give you some idea how special Ben performance was today.

Well sir, your signature line is ssoo ghey that I'm unable to respond to your post constructively.........

I wouldn't go that far but if he could have clinched 2nd position today then definitely you had the strong case.

Ghey? Did you mean Grey? Sorry if the shade of my posts offends you.

I was being a ....! Feel free to respond in kind, no harm done. To be honest, Rossi is the GOAT, no question and anyone with any sense would agree. However, had Rossi gone from last to 6th in the span of 12 laps I suspect we would have all been subjected to pages and pages of boppers proclaiming his greatness. I suspect Stoner will be somewhat displeased with the day but to come from last to 6th is a very good result that anyone should be proud of. The success of other riders (Lorenzo, Stoner, et al) takes nothing away from Rossi's accomplishments.

How many aliens do we now have in the MotoGP universe? Obviously there's one: Jorge Lorenzo won with such ease today it was almost embarrassing. He retains his alien status. The recuperating Rossi obviously still belongs in the category of supernatural, but Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa's status has been in doubt recently.

Pedrosa crashed yesterday and in Sunday morning warm-up, which can't have helped his confidence or his knee but his race was a flashback to Qatar. There he got the holeshot then drifted back to seventh, this time ditto but he ended up eighth. Dani was completely perplexed, saying the feel with his hastily rebuilt bike just wasn't there. As track temperature was eleven degrees up on yesterday, he went for the harder rear tyre but was mildly surprised when all the guys on soft tyres came past him. One of them was Casey Stoner who had such a bad start he was last into the first corner thanks to a grabbing clutch. He spent an inordinate amount of time at the back of the field before mounting a late charge that looked like it might get him a rostrum finish. It was truly impressive and the sort of thing you expect from an alien—Casey's status remain intact. Dani's condition is unclear to everybody, including Dani. One week he's unbeatable, the next week he's an also ran.

Both Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso have been knocking on the door all season but haven't quite got there. Dovi' had another solid ride and Nicky looked like he was on for his first rostrum of the year before he was mugged by Ben Spies on the last lap. Ben had the decency to say he felt bad about depriving a fellow American of a top-three finish, Nicky said that been had been riding hard all weekend and reminded everyone that he'd been saying all year that Spies would be a rostrum regular. None of which made his fourth fourth-place of the year any more bearable. Nor does the fact that the man who looks most likely to make it five aliens in MotoGP is Ben Spies.

By next year when all the building work is finished Silverstone is going to be one of the best facilities we go to.

The only downside to MotoGP's return to Silverstone was the sight of just fifteen bikes starting the race, the smallest field since 1991. As well as the absent Rossi, we lost Hiro Aoyama after a morning highside; he is likely to be out for three months but the team expect to field another rider at Assen next week.

By the way, if you're wondering if the title to these Ryder Notes is a play on the four aliens, it's not. Lorenzo's victory celebration was to dress up with three of his crew for a reconstruction of the Sgt Pepper's cover...
