I think the idea that he cracked has merit, and is the theory J4rn0, the most sensible, knowledgeable and rational Rossi fan on here, an Italian with extraordinary linguistic ability, with sufficient skill in both English and Italian and doubtless several other languages to be aware of the nuances of what people including Valentino are actually intending to say without having to rely on translators, which doesn't preclude the possibility of course that he looks more favourably on riders to whom he feels an allegiance, just like the rest of us. Unlike the rest of you he can actually argue his corner, however.


The rest of your post is exactly what did happen imo, and fits the view of many that Rossi attempted his career long practice of attempting to intimidate other riders/turn things against them by off-track manipulations (you know, the so-called "mind games" for which you guys have so acclaimed him over his career) but on this occasion finally confronted a rider in MM against whom this was an extremely poor tactic. So if you want to call him stupid this time, I won't disagree.

To summarise 6 months of debate, his accusation was inherently ludicrous as well as unprovable since it involved a race MM actually won, in the process of which he necessarily had to beat Jorge Lorenzo

I have previously speculated that given his previous penchant for re-creating history where Rossi is concerned, ie repeating the last corner Jerez 2006 Gibernau pass at Jerez 2013 (except on Lorenzo), re-enacting the corkscrew "pass", and racing Rossi at Sepang 2015 as Rossi did Jorge at Motegi 2010, MM may have privately laid a "Gibernau curse" on VR. Jorge may be judicious in settling for a position strategically, but I believe MM will be very motivated to stop VR winning a race, perhaps even to his own detriment.
