Seriously though Rog, everybody has been yanking our chain. Everybody gots these wild ... rumors. Spanish & Italian media, motogpmatters, etc, they have all been ....... crazy with wild ... reports. We've been speculating like mad dogs, we have all been saying why we think such and such will move, but we've all been wrong. Well except Babel, he was too chickenshit to go on record, and now he will surely tell us he saw it all along.

I really thought Lorenzo would sign for Ducati. Another one I've missed the mark on. I suppose we can do it all over again next year and add Stoner to the list of riders out of contract at the end of the year. I wonder if Honda really will sign both Pedrosa and Dovi to two-year deals knowing Lorenzo and Stoner will both be out of contract at season's end.

Did he make the noise or did the media do it regardless of truth ?

Is it wrong that I like him less over this? .... you Lorenzo, why can't you be so easy to read like Casey is.

See you again next year, same place, same time, same ....... ........ to make more money.

Are you insinuating that this was a manipulation to make more money? JL walked away from double the money at Ducati.......................JL did exactly what any prudent adult should do. Collect and examine all options before making a decision. He did just that and in the end will work for 1/2 of what he could have been making.

you forgot to add "whilst playing the media like a set of bongos in an effort to up his salary at yamaha because he was never really going to leave them for a team and bike that would most likely turn him into a midpacker"....

Yeah but............so what? The media are fuking fools and they played along very willingly. That's what you do. Right now, JL is an in demand commodity. Who knows how long that will last for him. He must capitalize on that when and if he can. He used his status and the needs of the different manufacturers to get the best possible deal he can for himself. I think it's prudent and the right thing to do. If he has a great season at Yamaha in 2010 then we will see this again next year. Why the hostility? This is all common in professional sports.

I get the impression that J Lo was chumming the sharks as necessary. (Not that they need much to launch into a full on frenzy!)

no hostility here, just rying to add humour (not everyone is an argumentative ..... here!

), just pointing out what he has done. if i was in his position, i would be doing the same thing. like you said, if he is as competitive next season, he will be in an even better negotiating position to get an even better deal.

In the end wise move from Lorenzo. You have to give him full credit for not taking huge salary from Ducati, it look likes that for him winning championship is more important than money.

One more thing stands out after Lorenzo's re-signing is perhaps Rossi don't have big say in these matters as some people think on this forum but what ever kudos to Lorenzo for not taking that sort of money.

Your avatar reminds me why I'm glad JL is not bumping Casey from his seat. What a race that was!! I want CS back on the Ducati in full strength next year along side JL and Rossi. Here's looking forward to 2010!! This season is a wash......................

Very interesting.

First of all im guessing Ducati and J-LO will be doing some Serious sucking up. Yamaha will not be happy at all with J-LO, for showing no Loyalty, and they will see this as him coming Crawling home i dont think he will be as welcome as he once was.

Then there is Ducati, they have said some not so nice things about Casey he Diet and Training, and commenting on his Sickness. But most of all offering 2 times the amout Casey gets paid a year.
Casey to Yamaha or Honda in 2011, id laugh if Casey could get out of it now, but i doubt it.

Then theres Rockgod, he can now do Another 180 and start liking Casey again, and start getting upset when people say something that he dont like.

The question though is, did he actually take such a 'large' salary cut was was offered or did Yamaha find some extra money?

I expect a bit of both and will be interested (as I said elsewhere) to see if Phillip Morris start appearing as a personal sponsor of JL's as it is VR who does not like cigarette sponsorship and they are effectively a separate garage (not suggesting Marlboro Yamaha for JL - Marlboro Tamaha - the memories).

Not really, I suspect that VR still has a massive say as the wall remains abd the two are effectively in a team in name only and nor did I read VR saying to Yamaha to get rid of JL, just playing the media games he is so good at and dropping comments.

Definitely some fence mending to occur but reckon that Yamaha will see it more as a business thing (thus the one year contract and not mutliple years), but Ducati on the other hand are different. Would be interesting to know whetehr the leaks and negativity came from within Ducati, Phillip Morris, elsewhere or is a combination of the Italian media having wishful thought given the mutual dislike between them and Stoner.

The other point for mine is that it is only a one year contract in the day when one year contracts aren't that common for established riders.

To me, this is a clear indication that he will be looking even harder next year and in some ways is a gamble as should he fail to produce the asking price may drop, but another good year and he will be sky high. I believe that he has signed for a year as he wants a team #1 and knows that he can have it under Phillip Morris and Ducati, but is now waiting on VR to see his direction.

Plus for mine, JL likes the limelight and is a good player of the media, thus he woudl know that people were saying about the Ducati option and needs a good image to be able to attract sponsors, a money grabbing opportunist is not a good image.

A smart decision, if not for 2010 for future years but as I say earlier, I suspect that he got more than teh original and 'ifnal' Yamaha offer.

Yumkie my friend, I think deep inside you recognize that Rossi is the Best Rider / Developer in the Grid, even unconsciously… And that could help Hayden back podiuming!

Even if yamaha increased their original offer i still think that number will no way near to ducati's offer.

Wall effects him directly when 2 teammates fighting for championship you don't wanna give any thing away which can help your teammate so you can understand his say in that matter but Personally i don't think Rossi have any big influence on yamaha when it comes to signing or re-signing his teammates but thats my personal opinion.

Would it be fair to say that Vale's contract runs out at the end of next year, and Jorge has only signed a one year deal in order to see what Vale does for 2011? If Vale signs a new contract Jorge will probably jump ship, but if Vale decides he wants to do something else Jorge will be the #1 Yamaha guy. Am I reading this correctly?
