<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In the end wise move from Lorenzo. You have to give him full credit for not taking huge salary from Ducati, it look likes that for him winning championship is more important than money.
The question though is, did he actually take such a 'large' salary cut was was offered or did Yamaha find some extra money?
I expect a bit of both and will be interested (as I said elsewhere) to see if Phillip Morris start appearing as a personal sponsor of JL's as it is VR who does not like cigarette sponsorship and they are effectively a separate garage (not suggesting Marlboro Yamaha for JL - Marlboro Tamaha - the memories).

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>One more thing stands out after Lorenzo's re-signing is perhaps Rossi don't have big say in these matters as some people think on this forum but what ever kudos to Lorenzo for not taking that sort of money.
Not really, I suspect that VR still has a massive say as the wall remains abd the two are effectively in a team in name only and nor did I read VR saying to Yamaha to get rid of JL, just playing the media games he is so good at and dropping comments.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Very interesting.
First of all im guessing Ducati and J-LO will be doing some Serious sucking up. Yamaha will not be happy at all with J-LO, for showing no Loyalty, and they will see this as him coming Crawling home i dont think he will be as welcome as he once was.
Then there is Ducati, they have said some not so nice things about Casey he Diet and Training, and commenting on his Sickness. But most of all offering 2 times the amout Casey gets paid a year.
Casey to Yamaha or Honda in 2011, id laugh if Casey could get out of it now, but i doubt it.
Definitely some fence mending to occur but reckon that Yamaha will see it more as a business thing (thus the one year contract and not mutliple years), but Ducati on the other hand are different. Would be interesting to know whetehr the leaks and negativity came from within Ducati, Phillip Morris, elsewhere or is a combination of the Italian media having wishful thought given the mutual dislike between them and Stoner.
The other point for mine is that it is only a one year contract in the day when one year contracts aren't that common for established riders.
To me, this is a clear indication that he will be looking even harder next year and in some ways is a gamble as should he fail to produce the asking price may drop, but another good year and he will be sky high. I believe that he has signed for a year as he wants a team #1 and knows that he can have it under Phillip Morris and Ducati, but is now waiting on VR to see his direction.
Plus for mine, JL likes the limelight and is a good player of the media, thus he woudl know that people were saying about the Ducati option and needs a good image to be able to attract sponsors, a money grabbing opportunist is not a good image.
A smart decision, if not for 2010 for future years but as I say earlier, I suspect that he got more than teh original and 'ifnal' Yamaha offer.
