<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I don't think Lorenzo is just looking for the money. He is in a strange position. He is the #2 rider in the championship, sharing the factory with the #1 rider. As long as Rossi is around he will remain #2. So in theory, and I'm sure it's been going thru Lorenzo's mind as well, he should never win a championship as long as Rossi stays.
Rossi will most likely win this year, this will give Rossi hope to go for the final Agostini records that he hasn't beat. Rossi will want to stay at least two more years and see if he can beat Ago, thus establishing himself as the true GOAT.
All of this has to be going thru Lorenzo's mind, Lorenzo is a former champion, his goal is MotoGP champion, not #2 rider to Rossi. He knows that Yamaha are amazing, but also knows about Honda's potential and commitment to the sport. He may be thinking, ok fine, I will stay with Yamaha, but only if they pay me more (especially after finding out how much Rossi makes). Honda of course see's his potential, he is the one rider that can go toe to toe with Rossi and win, something Pedrosa seems to fail at time and time again. Lorenzo is their hope, and they are willing to dangle out there some really nice bonuses to get him (ie - more money, his own team, etc etc).
Yamaha seems unwilling to cough up more money, the end result is going to be, Lorenzo will move to Honda.
I do understand the position Lorenzo is in and can see his frustration but do you not think that Lorenzo will learn much more staying at Yamaha with Rossi? Yes he is going to get beaten, but he still will do if he changes. Rossi has so upped his game now to go for Agostini's records and because he knows how much of a threat Jorge is, but if Jorge stayed he would continue to learn from the best ~ not just Rossi but the Yamaha team also. There's a 'karate kid' thing going on there.
It would be sad if Jorge did go to Honda and like a previous poster said (apologies for not going back through the thread for names but it is late) blame the bike if he loses. Now he 'shaken hands' with Rossi he would have to start all over again with Pedrosa.
Yamaha are right to not be held to pay more for Jorge, they have the best in Rossi and anybody else in their right mind would fight tooth and nail for Jorge's position.
