Has your view on Dani changed after his Brno win?

I have to say I was impressed by his fightback on the last lap. But, it has to be said, the backing he has had in GP, he should have done more by now. Maybe he is turning a corner, he appears to be delivering the goods at last, but, time will tell. He's got HRC right behind him again, and at Germany, he made Stoner look like a rookie.

I'm still not a fan, but fair play if the guy is getting his .... together.

I think the arrival of Mark Marquez in 2013 has set a fire under his ..., and now feels he has to deliver or else get replaced (or end up on the Ducati)

In future consider facts and information before you say things that are widely known to be wrong, it makes you look like a fool

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Please correct me Tom. Did Stoner not win the championship in 2011. That also being the first year he was on a Repsol Honda.

What are you on about?

i think its about pedrosa being on the 2005 spec rc211v in 2006.

if i remember correctly only hayden had a 2006 spec rc211v while all the other riders had the 2005 version (with upgrades?), not sure about it though

I wasnt referring to Nicky. I was referring to Stoner

What, he out rode stoner so comprehensively that stoner still thought he had a chance of getting him in the last corner, and attempted to do so which you would probably applaud in any other rider?

No doubt that if stoner wanted to win the 2012 championship, much like even greater riders in 1992 and 2010 he should not have crashed, either at sachsenring or in practice at indy, and that dani will deserve the championship if he wins it though.

So Stoner didn't fall off trying to catch Dani? Realistically, was he actually close enough to attempt a pass?

Sorry, I don't understand a word of the rest of your post.

Obviously if Dani or whoever wins the title, they deserve it. Just as Casey did last year, and Jorge before him.

How about I write "Casey Stoner, True World Champion 2012" Happy now?

...Which is equally a false statement.

Stoner and Pedrosa spent the entire 2011 season on different bikes. In pre-season testing HRC gave it's riders two different bikes to chose. The 2010 version (with minor mods, if I'm not mistaken) and the new (more rigid chassis?) 2011 version.

Stoner liked the new version more and stick with it for his campaign. Pedro on the other hand couldn't find any clear improvement on the new one so he stick with the older version that he already had experience with, and was winning consistently in 2010. Dovi was unsure so went with what Stoner chose, the 2011 spec.

OK, any time any rider falls off a bike for any reason they have been made to look like a rookie. Stoner doesn't deserve to win the 2012 world championship (I never said he did), either jorge or dani does . And your depth of perception, wit and intellect obviously far exceed that of any other poster. Happy now yourself?

no but maybe he'll win the mundialito
<

Injuries mostly of his own doing (except for two). What JK's point was that given that bike for seven years, messrs Stoner, Lorenzo and Rossi would have had a lot more 1's and 2's in there. By that standard he has under performed.

'Under-performed' and 'failed to be competitive are worlds apart. I replied to the claim that he had failed to be competitive.

But has he under-performed? He has been in the unlucky position that when his ducks have been lined up, he's had some form of catastrophe, when that catastrophe has visited someone else, there's been a freak on a faster bike.

You, as a racer, should see his record and know that isn't the scorecard of an under-performer.

To me, he is a hard trier, that has been unlucky to be in one of the deepest pools of GP talent for decades.

I'm always happy Mr M.

My point was that Casey overstretched himself trying to stay with Dani and crashed. Yes I threw in a wee bit of bait for the not so bright Stoner fans (I don't include you in that statement) to get excited about, but that was all I was saying.

No offence meant to your good self

Pedrosa was offered the new bike but chose to stay on the old spring valve bike. He wanted Hayden to do all the work and take all the risk with the new pneumatic valve bike. It back fired on him.

i thought pneumatics came in 2008 (or as early as 2007?certainly on the 800cc)

but i do recall something being different on the 2006 version from the 2005 , anybody know exactly what it was?

Nickys 2006 bike had pneumatics. IIRC it came in about half way through the season. Dani fell out with honda because they wanted him to have the bike. He refused it and stayed with the older spring valve set up. Dani didn't go to the new system until 2007.

IIRC as im talking from distant memory not google, there were several other differences in the 2 bikes apart from valve set ups. Haydens bike had a different clutch and was positioned higher than the old bike which meant several chassis upgrades too. I also seem to remember about 16.5 wheels as opposed to 17" at that time but i maybe wrong.

just googled it, i think we both mixed it up a bit
<
no wonder, too many versions for the different riders!

in 2006 there were haydens 06 bike(different clutch, higher crank, lower gearbox), a special chassis for pedrosa and satellite bikes for the rest.

pneumatics came in 2008 but dani didn't use them until after he made the switch to bridgestone

I may be wrong but i'm sure the 990 hrc use pneumatics towards the end of the season to give a higher rev ceiling but when you drink as much Absinthe as me the old brain does get time warped now and again
<
I think the Kawasaki was the first to use them back in 04-05?
