Next time you tell me I never offer anything positive to contribute. Remember who showed that to you.

To bad the fights on track are never as good as the ones on this site.

And there is a great example of goal hanging.

I would say that his confidence is as high as it has ever been...the usual dani would have given up and not put up a fight

I always knew they guy had talent to ride a GP bike. This is no surprise, or a view change, but I have a bit more respect for him. I think if he got rid of Puig, he may become a bit more of a happy guy.

Hes had 7 years on inarguably the best bike on the grid. He has failed every single year to be competitive in the championship. The bike has been and will continue to be developed for him. He has the entire might of one of the most successfull corporations in the world behind him.

His first year teammate took the same exact bike and won a championship on it.

Dani Pedrosa is the biggest failure in GP history. Just because he passed someone on the last lap doesnt change 7 years of failure.

You can pose championship scenarios all you want but does anyone really believe (barring Lorenzo injury) that he will be holding the trophy at seasons end.

Spot on. There is lots of talk about riders only winning because their on the best machinery but what about pedro? he has had one of the best if not the best since he came into motogp but never won the wc. How well would he do on a sat bike? Way behind Dovi and cal is my bet.

2007 was the only year that Honda were significantly behind.

His problem has been repeated injuries during and prior to each season. I really believe that 2008 could have been his year until Alberto's attempted manslaughter in Germany. This year he has been injury free and he is looking at his most formidable.

It is inconceivable how much faith Honda have shown in him. Simoncelli was perhaps destined for his ride and had Jorge been tempted away from Yamaha we would have definitely seen Dani on a factory M1 next year.

I think young Marquez is set to be a major thorn in his side.

Yeah Puig's move in 07 was a betrayal of trust and very unprofessional imo . Dani was weak in not showing him the door afterwards. Yes honda with the duck arse in 07 was significantly behind ducati as were all but not so behind yamaha imo. Dani's reluctance to try new parts like in 06 i believe held him back.

Agreed about the 07 bike. I had that in my original post and mistakenly deleted it.

Just a few months ago we were debating on why Pedro still had that ride. If I remember correctly most people did feel that his passport and his popularity in Spain were the main reason. I think if you were to put him on the factory Ducati he would be in Hector Barbera territory.

He's been in HB territory most seasons in MotoGP - which bones hasn't Pedrosa broken?

The honda and yamaha were significantly behind the 2007 ducati given a rider who could ride that ducati, no small caveat on all available evidence. If you want to attribute the 2007 title to advantages then valentino started 2008 on bridgestones which dani didn't.

However, it is my belief no-one including dani was going to beat valentino in 2008 given how well valentino rode that year. I don't know how dani could continue with puig as his manager after sachsenring 2008 either though, or how puig kept any role in the hrc team for that matter; the last question is rhetorical, I know the answer is repsol.

18 wins, 67 podiums, His final position since his rookie year has been 5,2,3,3,2,4,2

Hardly what you would call 'failed to be competitive'. He has been leading the championship a number of times, to have injury scupper his chances.

He is the Randy Mamola of the noughties...

So many people have stated categorically that the 2007 Ducati was the "best bike on the grid" that year. Yet not one of these same people have proclaimed a replacement for Stoner who would have won the title that season on this mythical "auto-pilot rocketship". Next best Ducati in 2007 came home in 7th spot - sound familiar?

As I have previously stated Alan Cathcart actually rode all 3 factory bikes at the end of season and wrote a comparison article for AMCN.....basically he said the Yamaha was the best overall package, Honda next best and the Ducati was an evil beast with an incredible engine - but far from the "best" bike due to its handling deficiencies.

Yet people who have never even seen these bikes up close let alone ride them continue to makes these outlandish statements about the GP7. Who would you prefer to believe? A seasoned professional racer who actually tested the bikes and has done this as a career for many years or some fanboy behind a keyboard with no actual experience of the machines in question other than seeing them on TV or from the sidelines at the track.....I rest my case.

To be fair I can't come up with any names for riders who could have beaten stoner on the 2007 ducati on a 2007 honda or yamaha either, but this doesn't mean it was easy to win on the thing.

I am not sure about people like cathcart riding current race bikes, they probably like most of the test riders don't get the bikes into the zone where the elite riders operate.

True enough....pretty sure they would have more idea about these bikes than anyone on this or any other similar forums however.

Hes never been in a position towards the end of the season where there was any plausible scenario where he could win the championship unless of course your talking about Estoril 2006 and your name is Alberto Piug

Injuries mostly of his own doing (except for two). What JK's point was that given that bike for seven years, messrs Stoner, Lorenzo and Rossi would have had a lot more 1's and 2's in there. By that standard he has under performed.
