Ducati is not the only team that is running an aero package, just look at the aero on the Honda. with the power these bikes are making now the engineers are going to have to come up with some way to keep them on the ground.

The Honda is less dependent on the aero in comparison to the Duc

Speedweek is handled by Red Bull and since Dani is a Red Bull rider, it's a very reliable source on this matter.

If true it would be a real shame :(
Damn, that is a shame. If it is the case, then I wish him all the best.

I heard one of the reasons would be that he apparently can not find a ride

Sucks to think a guy like Abraham (with all due respect to him) will have a ride and a guy like Pedrosa won't :( :(

KA’s dad pays for his ride... I doubt Dani feels that need.

Speedweek is reporting that Dani is set to announce his retirement :(

Again, as one of Pedrosa’a biggest fans, I think it is for the best. As much as I would love to seem him put a leg over the Yamaha , dudes had a extremely long and bruising career and I think his time is up. He knows that he isn’t going to win a championship on a satellite Yamaha, so honestly what’s the point? He’s accomplished all he possibly can at this point and riding a Yamaha would just mean he is taking up a seat that a younger rider with an actual future ahead of him should have the chance to ride.

Ride on in retirement Little Samurai

Edit: no doubt about it though, any team would be lucky to have him as a test rider as experienced as he is. Wouldn’t be shocked if HRC signed him again for that role actually

A shame, but to me, not unexpected. He's been with Repsol for so long. His confidence level can't be high and would only decline with another bike.

Pedrosa is Bradley Smith on a Honda.
That bike has been a smokescreen for his lack of talent in comparison to his peers.
He’s utterly worthless and watching him waste space on 1 of 4 Alien bikes for over a decade was maddening to see.
He’s too small for the class and never belonged there, but Repsol needed their token Spainard sponsor.
He almost never showed racing acumen, instead using his superior bike to catch a tow from better riders on the same equipment.
I credit any success he ever had to Puigs management of him. After Alberto left he went from bad to worse.
When you think of HRC, you never think of mediocrity and yet that’s what Pedrosa turned the brand into for 12 years.
I look forward to seeing him on another bike so we can finally see how much Honda has propped up his entire failed career

Sorry mate, that comes across as just plain vindictive. Do you really feel that Dani was 'worthless?'

31 Premier class wins, 3 World titles, only rider to have won at least 1 race per year since 2002. Went rather close to the MotoGP title several times, helped developing and tuning what is currently considered the most competitive racing-motorcycle in the world.

If he's worthless, what are all the other riders except MM, VR and Lorenzo?

That's probably not the reason, he can find a ride, just not one he wants to take. I know you qualified your opinion, I understand the sentiment, however it's not reflective of the GP reality of merit. Abraham is everyone's whipping boy, but consider he's always ridden a ...... bike, 3rd tier hand-me-down from the factories who benefit from the sale of equipment, and he's beat more well funded teams. Consider his rookie season where rookie of the year came down to the last round against Cal Cunthole, who was riding a Tech3 M1 versus Abraham on the then ..... version of Ducati. More importantly, this notion that ALL the riders aren't bought and paid for at some level is ........, the difference is Karel Abraham's is easier to spot, and at some level more honest. Speaking of Pedro, you don't think he kept his seat well beyond the merit date? Because isn't this the standard used to disparage Abraham? What about Pol Espargaro, Aleix Espargaro, Tito Robat, Xavier Simeon, before Alex Lowes. Hell, most of these guys came in without merit, Cuntslow won 2 home Wsbk races, that's it. Bradley Smith, granted he was on a ...... Tech3 Moto2 outfit, regardless, his results on their face were unimpressive. As nice as Hafizh is, what did he do to deserve a GP promotion? Etc.

Anyway, if Pedro retires that's on him. Regarding his accomplishments, put him on Stoner's trajectory, how many races does he win? Factor in the fact he was on best most funded shrewd factory bike 12 years, 3 champs lifted title, him, zero. He could take a less desirable seat somewhere. He's good enough, but maybe he's done. If so, I'm ok with it. The old Pedro was a jerk, the new Pedro I wish health. Bye.

Abraham is alright.
Hector Barbera however, had no reason to be in the premier class for as long as he did.

Non factory riders unable to compete for championships.

Its not a feeling. Its a fact. 11 years at HRC. 6 titles by his teammates in that timeframe. A race win ratio thats far below his teammates.

Of those titles there are 4 by Marc, 1 for Casey and 1 for Nicky. Casey and Marc are names in the hat for the fastest people to ever throw a leg over a motorcycle and Nicky was the hardest working guy in any paddock. I am not saying that Dani was always the best man for the seat, but Holypuck's outlining of Dani's achievements, for me at least, was proof enough that the level of vitriol was not warranted.

Is everyone forgetting that Pedrosa beat Rossi last year? Or doesn't that count for anything?

"But you gotta admit, Hector has spectacular eyes." Willski, PS Legend, circa 2016

You can't much argue with that!

I don't think it's an issue of animosity, as some are trying to defend, but rather Pedro's record isn't meritorious of 12 years. He deserved 4-5, based on feeder category success, once it became clear he wouldn't ever win a title, it's not animos to point out someone else should give that coveted seat a go. It's normal.

Viñalez has been getting a lot of ...., he won 3 races last year then suddenly ttires and development went away and hasn't been able to get in a groove, do you think Yamaha would keep him for another 10 years wining a couple races a year?

It's fascinating most people don't factor in that the 'works factory' RCV 'alien bike' is 'supposed' to and designed to win 'championships', practically by its virtue will win races. Honda (and Yamaha) factory is the perennial championship FAVORITE. Yamaha could vary well go winless all season (unless Dornachelin step in with more "strange" tire allocations, stay tuned). Everyone intuitively understands this winless streak is unacceptable--these bikes are supposed to win. Yet, the accolade of Pedro's tenure is: well, he won a couple of races per year. Uhm, yeah, no ...., he had a 25% probability of winning a race every time he lined up.

Let's look at it another way, I always ask every year, who can NOT win the championship? Is it coincidence that anybody not on a factory Honda or Yamaha (4 bikes) is realistically ruled out from day 1? In the last 12 years it's been 1:3 in part thanks to Pedro. Is that hating on him or simply the shrewd reality of how a bookie would call it?
