Whilst that may seem an accusation to some, point is, Dubs and I have a lot of history that goes back a number of years in this place and we have had the 'you are a ......, no you are a ......' discussions but neither seemed to take it personally as, after all, this place is a forum for opinions which are like ........, everyone has one, thus we are all ........ in some way.

Just in a general sense, but .... I wish Rog was still around as this place needs a Rog like character.

You actually are one of the few, the others obviously not including me, who is hardly ever or more like never an ......., what we see is what we get which is discussion, sometimes passionate, of what interests you with no subtexts or agendas against other posters, which I am sure is by deliberate choice, you could obviously subtly insult people if you wished.

What I tired of was a double standard, particularly given the massive conflagration on here a while back about members instructing other members in regard to how to comport themselves on the forum. I certainly am not going to forgo a little recreational counter-trolling with Worst/Props/whoever it is because of some arbitrary standard laid down by a bystanding member.

Mate as you know, I genuinely don't consider myself a fanboy of Stoner as I have been extremely critical of some of his actions or behaviours, but I will defend the race history and do have a bias due to his an my being Aussies (same goes for Miller who I feel cops a hard time).

That all said, hell yes we had our discussions back around 2009/2010 when you first found the joint and the lactose intolerance side kicked in and caused such discussion amongst many (along fan lines of riders).

My take is that this place is a bit of a 'last bastion' on the net as we seem to be able to get through the infestations that occur from time to time with pure trolls or the tinted glasses that cannot discuss or debate but simply deride and abuse. This is a good place to discuss MotoGP and the associated carry on.

We are (IMO) lucky to have some good knowledgeable people (Arrib, Pov to name but 2) that contribute but have sadly lost others across the years as well who gave good insight (and at times, contradicting insight).

I will always try to answer and debate reasonably and have done so even when attacked personally (1 exception) as for me, the place needs debate not derision as we are all supposedly here because we love the sport

Exactly gaz. I know where you stand on Stoner. Michaels post about you was spot on as you have always been a levelheaded member. This is a great place to get information and debate motogp. Its not watered down by bopper fools. Its mostly solid gp fan with a lot of different views sometimes light hearted humor..... Thats what keeps me here. We aren't always going to get along especially when cs is brought up. It is what it is.

Love the entire walk back you've done...the old "who me" and "I'm here to discuss GP" routine is as tired as your avatar is now.

It's funny you say that, I was just thinking the same thing. Roger could throw down, he never took it personal that you dropped bombs on him or had a differing opinion. Jum was much the same. This current crop brands you as an enemy of the state if you disagree with them.
Dubs just took a step back and tried to head of the impending flame war and he's still getting antagonizing posts directed at him.
If he was debating Roger or Jum both of them would have recognized his peace offering and capped of the discussion with a friendly jibe, much like you are doing now. These guys are too dysfunctional to understand that, which is probably why the lounge has become a graveyard. They are too single minded and think that brow beating you with their knowledge, makes them interesting.
They remind me of some scientists and engineers I've met, who are brilliant but lack any sort of personality or humor. Its as if the part of their brain in most people that processes personality is being used for storage and computing

Eg. I'l start .....

We all know that Stoner is the greatest there has ever been ... give one reason why .

Mine ...... cos he made it obvious that rossi sucked more than any other rider there has ever been ..... or maybe will be .

PS. Marquez is doing a pretty good job though.

Wouldn't it be crazy if it was possible to have appreciated and enjoyed watching Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo AND Pedrosa without feeling the need to hate the other???


Some people here need to STFU and get back to discussing actual racing.
 
Gaz - I virtually never disagree with you, and who knows maybe Rog would be a different story were he to come back. I would really like to believe that. But all this stuff about how Rog never took any personal is the biggest load of .... I have ever seen posted on this forum. He was the most thin-skinned guy I've ever run across. I don't care if his chums hate me for saying it, got to keep it real. He could dish it out but couldn't take it. He was larger than life and charming as hell, as long as you didn't disagree with him.

I never said Rog never took things Personal Kesh so don't link me there, what I do say is that Rog could debate and did not take everything as an attack as he was capable of seeing points.

Was he thin skinned - well yes in the early years of my time here as he was one of the Rossi fans at a time when the guard was changing to other riders being competitive, and he simply saw everything as a question or taint on Rossi but no way was he the most think skinned (a certain Queenslander comes to mind as far worse in that aspect, and others since come and gone).

Having never met him I will not judge Rog on a face to face but will say that as someone who often disagreed with him, we had some very good discussions (forum and occasional PM) and not once did I find that he could not take it, but that if dished then he would return serve and sometimes with interest.

Rog is not, was not and for me never will be the worst person or contributor we have had to this place be that as a troll or as a person unable to accept criticism of their favourite and I would welcome his contributions which were at times well worth the read.

I actually say this as Rog was a Brit with a rampant anti-Aussie sense which led to some hefty and robust chats and being an Aussie I was one that copped it in spades, but never took it personally and never felt it was personal.

This place should be accepting of all and welcome all views where if we do not appreciate the manner than we skip past it and move on.

Gaz - I did not say you in particular were saying Rog was not thin skinned. I sure as hell don't think he was the worst anything. I have at times tried to pass on word to him to the effect that (and I can't believe I am saying this) he should try and put the old crap behind him and come back to the forum. He was really well informed and on the whole, his good input far outweighed his beligerance - something I can't say is true for a lot of people here. Say what you will, Rog really loves racing.

And that is why he should be here ............ his love of racing as that is what this place is about, and (IMO) something that separates this place from a lot of other troll infested corners of the internet where any opinion outside of the clearly defined lines is the most heinous of crimes and deserving of being hung, drawn and quartered.

Rog is actually 1 of a few that we have lost over the years that were damn good positive contributors which is a shame (not a blight, but a shame) but such is the way of the world, people move on with their lives and this place is but a small part of the world

I enjoy how the site transitions from Stoner to Roger. The two most taboo things on this site.
