Popular former World Championship rider Sete Gibernau is back at Mugello this week for another date with the Ducati test team.
Sete Gibernau will undertake more testing at the beautiful Tuscan circuit of Mugello on Wednesday, having completed the first session of a three day work-out at the Italian track on Tuesday.
The former World Championship runner-up returned to riding with his old team for the first time in more than 18 months in June, after informal discussions with Ducati´s MotoGP Project Director Livio Suppo and Ducati Corse General Manager Filippo Preziosi at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya resulted in a test last month.
The successful results of those outings onboard the Ducati Desmosedici GP9 in the company of one of Ducati´s regular test riders Vittoriano Guareschi – Gibernau lapped less than two seconds off the Mugello circuit record despite not riding MotoGP machinery since October 2006 - led to the respective parties organising another test this week.
Perhaps as a result of the level of interest in the proceedings at this early stage, in particular from Spanish and Italian media, Ducati officials have decided to undertake this test behind closed doors, with details only to be made public after the conclusion of the latest set of sessions on Thursday.
