Well done to the Finns and LH of course, best race of the season so far IMO, outrageous last lap battle between Massa and Kubica!

Great race at the weekend btw. Best train race of the season. Shame button got into difficulties. Could have been an English Finnish top 4!

Well done Heikki!
<
is he signed up for next year yet?

Nope. It all hinges on Alonso. Apparantly one of clauses of any potential contract between Alonso and Renault for 2008 would be that Fisi would be his number two. Presumably Heikki would end up at McLaren.

That would be brilliant! My other half just suggested toyota are interested in Heikki but not McLaren...she's been reading gossip in the papers

Btw. It's said Hey-key not high-key. Lol

Well it depends which paper you read. Some are saying Button or Webber will get the McLaren drive, some Sutil, some Rosberg, I even read Mika Hakkinen somewhere
<

I'd like to see Glock get the Toyota drive, I think he deserves another shot at F1. If Alonso does go to Renault, then I'd like to see Webber or Button get the McLaren drive, as I rate them both quite highly, but I think Heikki will be more likely, and actually, would be a better option for McLaren, from a harmony point of view. I can picture Kovaleinen getting on quite well with Hamilton in the same team, I can't really say the same for Button or Webber.

The sources I've heard are saying that Heidfeld is first choice for the McLaren seat?

He's contracted to BMW for 2008, so it would take a buy-out of his current deal. Like I said, it depends which paper you read. Until the plans for next year are confirmed we're likely to hear everyone and their dog linked with the McLaren seat, which makes it very difficult to know whats actually going on. I still reckon Heikki is the favourite for it, if Alonso goes to Renault. But its all just speculation at the moment.

Yeah, wasn't it just?????

I absolutely enjoyed the race. Well, I have to say I didn't quite like the first part, where they were just driving around, following the SC, but after that it was really enjoyable!!

Great drive from Lewis Hamilton
<

I can't say anything else really, the guy is amazing, simple as that. He scored a hattrick, and again, not making a mistake. Fernando, unfortunately did make a mistake, which costed him a lot, now he's 12 points behind in the standings. Lewis should win the title IMO, but this is racing, let's see what will happen.

Ferrari was simply hilarious!!!
<

I can't believe they ''didn't know'' they HAD to start on full wets!! It was kinda funny to see them both come in and change tyres. Well, at that moment I couldn't laugh, since I was hoping for a Raikkonen win. Anyway, I have to say both of them did a great job in the end. Kimi drove a strong race, coming from 21st and finishing 3rd!!!! Almost 2nd place, but Heikki did a great job as well. For the first time I saw Kimi really race, and overtaking people, eventhough his title hopes are over, I'm at peace, he fought, and I liked it!! The absolute highlight was the battle between Massa and Kubica, both very good drivers imo. It was a bit of a ''messy'' battle, but who can blame them, it was raining and they were trying so hard. Well done to both of them!!

Too bad Vettel crashed into Webber, but still he made a good impression. I think he is a really good one, only 20 years of age, and already leading a race. AMAZING!!!!!
<

Only a few more days, and then the GP of China!!
<

For the sake of the championship a LH DNF would be much appreciated, and a Kimi win and a FA podium finish would make the whole thing complete....but...don't think we'll see that happening. Let's just hope for an interesting race. That's all I want!

You have really really high hopes!!! Two exciting races in <strike>season</strike> a row... that's too much.

Yeah, I know..that's me, I always have high hopes, maybe that explains why I'm always disappointed in the end

To take his points away is ridiculous. I think they'll punish him by pushing him down the grid. Makes for a better show in Brazil.

mine too

After watching the video, he should be punished I think. It would be a serious double standard not to now that they've punished Vettel. But I do agree points deduction is too much, a grid penalty is sufficient.

I think new rules need to be drawn up about safety car situations in the wet. I don't mind the games Hamilton was playing, when its dry. In the wet, its extremely dangerous, and more caution needs to be used I think. It wasn't just the Vettel/Webber incident, the brake test he did on Alonso at the first restart was even more dangerous.

Rookie error? I don't think so, a penalty is due but the ringleaders at F1 always pull a stunt like this at the end of a season, to try and make the end of the championship more exciting..

On another note a source told me that Mclaren are planning on fielding a second team, named Pro Drive in the future. I know Spyker are up for sale, so that fits. Saw some of their staff yesterday outside the Shanghai Marriot hotel, they must have had about 10 mini buses parked outside.

The Prodrive entry is all a bit up in the air at the moment. They're planning to use next years McLaren chassis, which is being investigated by the FIA for its legality (if they did use Ferrari data, some of the technology is probably on next years car too). So if its ruled illegal, then presumably the Prodrive entry will be delayed. Personally I wish they'd design their own chassis, Dave Richards knows what hes doing and they certainly have the facilities, if they could get a decent designer it shouldnt be a problem for 2009.

The Spyker sale isn't connected though, they've already been sold to Vijay Mallya.

It seems the FIA have realized that Lewis <strike>Ecclestone</strike> Hamilton had done wrong, and decided to let Vettel off to avoid having to do any damage to the new boss of F1. NICE

No punishment for Lewis Hamilton. That's already what I expected. It would have been rediculous if his points of last race would have been taken away. Maybe a grid pentalty would have been appropriate, cause it was a little bit dangerous, especially in those circumstances.

I'm really excited for the race. I think Ferrari and McLaren will be close. It might rain on sunday, so maybe we'll see an interesting, entertaining race again. Let's hope so!!!!

The battle for pole will be interesting. I have no idea who will take it (well, obviously Ferrari or the silver Ferrari

).

Lewis seems to be struggling again here. I have a feeling he's gonna make a mistake this weekend. Like I said on another forum, Hamilton has everything to lose, Alonso has nothing to lose.
