In an environment this competative these unsporting things do happen from time to time, the real shame for me is the way the situation has been dragged out through the media as a "drama" for people to follow.

Course they do, most years there is some legal proceedings with teams allegedly copying each other, Ferrari and Toyota not long ago springs to mind, but they normally turn a blind eye and settle it out of public view for the good of the sport. This year though, its just pathetic.

Agreed, this needs to be dealt with privately. More than anything its not gonna do the drivers mentalities any good being constantly asked about it. Also whichever way it goes in the end there are always going to be the few that will claim it is responsible for the outcome of the championship, which is s pitty considering the showdown we have on our hands.

This new evidence is apparently to do with one or more of the mclaren drivers. apparently there may be evidence of mclaren test driver Pedro De La Rosa having told Alonso something but then somewhere else said that it was Hamilton not Alonso so i dunno!

Kimi and problems??? Well, that's something new

Both Ferrari and McLaren seem very strong (what a shock!!). McLaren was fastest today, and I'm sure they'll be strong tomorrow in quali. The fans there are expecting a Ferrari win, I'm not sure they'll win tbh.

Hopefully it will be a close fight
<

Alonso may pull this one out of the bag as he is due a win, saying that I would like to see NH for BMW take it.

Yeah Daz I reckon BMW could have an outside shot here. It'll take a couple of mistakes from the Ferrari's/McLarens, but this is a very high speed low downforce circuit and BMW certainly aren't short of it.

I'm LOVING F1 right now!
<

4 drivers in the title hunt.

A brit leading.

The Raiko Whino's everywhere.

And the cars sound superb!

Have you been to any of the races? Was at Magny Cours last year (really for the Roger Waters concert on the Friday
<
) and they sound dreadful.

Tried the straights (oww) and the corners (oww plus crappy TC farting noises). Bring back the V12s or even the V10 screamers FFS.

Anything that sounds that bad must be poor design. V8's are supoosed to be low rpm burbling monsters not 17000 rpm horrors.

just reading up, the cause of the accident is unclear but it sounded like a big one. Kimi's got a mountain to climb now.

Yes, I also think Fernando has a good chance to win. McLaren seems strong so far. It will be hard for Ferrari, Massa might challenge for pole (I think they would like to get pole in front of their home fans). I'm not sure about Raikkonen, he lost some valuable laps in the final FP, cause of a crash. I haven't seen the crash yet, I'm curious what happened though.

Almost time for the quali, I'm so excited!!! Last time I watched was Nurburgring.

I'm dying of excitement!!! Alonso needs to lay the smack down and start driving like the world champion he is, i hope today's the day!!

Well deserved pole position for Fernando Alonso. He has been strong all weekend, I think he will win tomorrow. Ferrari just isn't on the same pace this weekend, really a shame, cause it seemed they were finally getting closer in the standings.

Hopefully Kimi will have a good start, he NEEDS that, if he wants to reach the podium, and to be honest, I don't see it happening.

crash
<

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQQ3Vv9dNiI

notice those three guys behind the wall. I wouldn't like to be there.

I'd go as far as saying thats the most dangerous accident we've had all year. From the outside it doesn't look as spectacular as Kubica's crash, but Kubica's car diccipated around him and absorbed the impact. Crashes like Raikkonen's, head on collisions with the barriers, where the car slows down from 150mph+ to 0mph in a matter of seconds are the ones where you can really get hurt.

Ferrari engineers said he just lost it under braking. Unfortunately that type of accident is fairly common at Monza with the lack of downforce. It's what killed Jochen Rindt
<

^Yes he was very lucky to walk away from that. When MS crashed in 99 at Silverstone in similar fashion he ended up with a broken leg.

Again the Mclarens are in a league of their own, just wondering what fuel loads they are carrying though? and BMW are consistent again. Should be a good race hopefully as I like Monza.
