Vettel has been sent to the back of the grid then due to a lack of fuel. Wow, whoever is responsible for that could be in some serious trouble. Should help make the race a bit more interesting though hopefully.

Great drive by Kimi, he's so good on the radio too.

Excellent drive by Vettel as well, showed his class today that's for sure.

master drive by both kimi and seb to charge through the field.

alonso looks broken.

The Ice Man says "Shut The .... Up...I know what I'm doing!".....classic...gotta love Kimi.

Why does Vettel have so much trouble driving behind the safetey car? It's quite strange that he makes errors when he has to go slowly!!

It's not just Vettel, remember Button? He's twice gone off track or almost crashed behind the safety car in recent years. Last year he almost ran into the back of Vettel in the way Vettel almost did with Ricciardo last weekend. It must be really hard drivng that slowly

Yes perhaps it is harder for them to drive int hat scenario than flat out. I don't remember the issues Jensen button had, perhaps Vettels mistakes are more obvious because they are more high profile.

so when you get brake checked by another guy it is your fault?

good to know, I'll remember that for karting.let those poor fools run into the back of me /into the wall and then say its their driving thats faulty

If someone drives into the back of you, it's always their fault, they were either too close or not paying enough attention. Even I know that and I've never driven a car in my life!

running into the back of someone on the street and getting brake checked on a race track are two entirely different things though!

It's still the responsibility of the guy behind to be paying enough attention to take avoiding action. Okay so on a race track when you have to be within a certain distance of the car ahead etc. it's more difficult, I agree, but you still have to be aware of the guy in front and what he might do.

no doubt about that, thats just common sense.

but in the specific case of ricciardo-vettel (and in a way motegi 07 with web ham vet) i would definately say its at least 60% the fault of the driver that hits the brakes.

i'm all for keeping a distance and drive responsibly but when somebody hits the brakes hard out of the blue its near impossible to avoid a collision.

i guess my point is just that we have to differentiate between brake checked induced incidents and all other examples of running into the back of another driver (where i 100% agree that its always your duty to make sure you can avoid the other guy given he drives responsibly..shame you weren't here in 05 and 08 where i could have provided a nice contrasting incident compared to being brake checked

The wet weather light could be used as a temporary brake light for just behind the safety car.

I agree about the check brake its something you can't see till its usually too late,

Same as keeping brakes tyres up to temp behind the safety car, they need some sort of braking light for only in this situation though.

Its not really a brake check though is it. It is standard practice for all F1 drivers to accelerate and deccelerate repeatedly behind the safetey car. All the drivers know this and have to stay aware and drive accordingly. Also it is beyond obvious that Ricciardo was not being malicious.

he's great for sure, but attributing vettels titles exclusively to newey is just plain wrong,

Absolutely agree, the driver is still a very important ingredient and Vettels performance in the last few years has been superb. The difference in results between him and Webber is a great example of this, because Webber is by no means a bad driver. However, Newey will naturally get praised as much or more than Vettel because his track record and reputation is longer, more successful and more varied than Vettel's. He has won titles over a huge number or years, with different drivers and teams in different eras. Vettel is still fairly new on the block. In addition to that it is a fairly common opinion (and I agree) that Fernando Alonso is definitely the best and most complete driver on the current F1 grid.

Don't be mad that Vettel doesn't get all the credit
