Ok, I'm on a roll of prediction threads!
<

1. Stoner
2. Hayden
3. CV

Hmmm... Estoril.

A nice great big honkin' long straight... I think that we're definitely in Ducati territory with this one!
<

#1 Casey Stoner

After the last few races I think that he's really got his sht together now...

#2 Chris Vermeulen

Seeing as he won last year & is due for a return to form after injury...

#3 Toni Elias

<

muzzy, your prediction of third is a bit extreme.. Toni Elias will definitely not be fit to get a podium there... and the bike is way too underpowered. 2nd is a bit unlikely aswell.

I reckon:

1st.. Stoner
2nd.. Pedrosa
3rd... Hopkins
4th... Rossi
5th.. Vermulen
6th... Hayden
7th... Capirossi
8th... Melandri
9th... West
10th.. Edwards
11th.. Barros
12th.. Elias
13th..Nakano
14th..Hoffman
15th... Guintoli
16th.. Tamada
DNF..DePuniet
Checa

Long straight bad news for Rossi although we can hope Casey fails to take advantage of it like at Mugello.

1. Rossi
2. Pedrosa
3. Hayden

Stoner DNF crash (he's due one!)

I agree that TE is definitely out of left field!
<
Thought that I might go for a dark horse for a change...
<
He'll probably crash in practice & really stuff things up for me!
<

As for Chris, well... he's a confidence rider who I believe has just found his confidence! If he can avoid losing touch on the straight then he's a possibility I think... depending on where he qualifies! Too far back & he'll be toast.

Of course things are very different now then they were at Mugello... and the chances of Casey crashing in a race get less with each passing round!

I think someone has calculated that if Stoner wins at Estoril, than Rossi can't afford to finish lower than 3rd or the 07 MotoGP championship is over! I believe that's where a lot of the Portugal drama will ultimately lie, if it's correct...

Basically with 4 rounds to go after Estoril Rossi must not go below 100 behind in order to have chance still.

So if Stoner wins Portugal

271 + 25 = 296

Rossi must be at least 196 to keep it alive. He is 186 now so he needs at least 10 points.

points available for places .... 25 20 16 13 11 10 9 8 7 etc.

So if Stoner wins Rossi must get at least better than P6.

But all that can change at the blink of an eye

1 Stoner
2 Hayden
3 Pedrosa
4 CV
5 Hopper
6 Rossi

Of course, Casey already has it in the bag. Valentino and team Yamaha obviously have accepted defeat this year and Portugal will be no more to them than a high profile test. My feelings are that I hope they start getting the package competetive, and Suzuki continue to improve, and Honda likewise. We could then maybe have one or two 'thrilling' races before the end of the season.
