Dani Pedrosa?

i dont think that was in dispute, the thread was about what we thought about pedrosa, not how much stoner has improved compared to dani, until you cheerlead your way in.
stoner had done a great job and looks set to take the championship, you really dont need to put other riders down to make him look better.

The only person to ever pass Rossi with a handful of laps remaining and then break him was Barros in 2002 at Motegi. Once in Rossi's entire career--5 years ago at Motegi.

Trying to break Rossi more than 1 lap from the finish is a complete waste of time. Your only chance is to duel with him, then wait till the last lap or even the last bend. Even that strategy carries poor odds.


ok, i dont think you got where i was coming from exactly. i was asking why it would be silly to try and put a gap into rossi, im not saying it would have ever happened but why not try? i would have. i think you sum it up perfectly yourself, battling with the doctor has low odds of ending in your favour, whoever you are, so why not at least try and do what you do best and clear off?

i dont doubt that rossi would not have let that happen but what i dont get is why you thought that was silly. never mind it didnt work anyway so end of really.

Well I will be honest and say that IMO the jury is still out on Pedrosa.

Undoubtedly the guy has loads of talent and can be blindingly fast and therefore will win races but, I am yet to be convinced about his 'mongrel' when it comes to head to head balls out battles, particularly with Rossi. personally whenever Rossi is near him I just 'know' that Rossi will pass and beat him.

To me it just looks as though Rossi does have a 'hold' over him but I do not feel that Stoner hast hat same hold of Rossi. I see this in some ways because Pedrosa is racing against someone he has likely 'idolised' or looked up to for many years, whereas with stoner he cam through the ranks so has beaten him.

I would expect that next year should be Dani's make or break year and that he should start stepping up the competitiveness a bit more but I do expect this anyway with year 2 of the 800's.

Stoner has been fantastic this year and no one can take anything away from the lad but I still think Dani has a slight physcological edge from their 125 and 250 days when they go head to head...

well wheeler theres no way shape or form that dani has the psychological edge over stoner. stoneman will fight tooth & nail with rossi were as padrosa will give in way to soon imo. compare stoner/rossi fight at catalunya to pedrosa/rossi fight at estoril.

Rossi wasn’t quicker than Casey's Ducati!!!...If/and remember that....Casey had "clutch" problems & "cramps" & "tyre” problems!!!...But he only mentioned his clutch!!!
Krazy...please let me teach you about the Aussie physiology!!!...and krazy let me tell you that ...this is typical of all us Aussies!!! We don’t make excuses Valentino Rossi won “fair and square” and that is it...see yah next time around mate!!!
But just remember krazy... Casey couldn’t use his advantage 100%!!!...we are NOT here to make excuses for Casey!!!..He came 3rd and that is it!!!...See yah next race!!!

btw: Stoner & Pedrosa have never had a head to head in the 800's...and the 990's was joke as Pedrosa had the same advantage as he had in the 125' & 250's...so that wasent a fair contest!! was it!!!...But now in the 800's It's FAIR and where is Pedrosa??? 100 points behind!!! or where ever he is!!! Dani is a ride on rider!!! You know he rides when ever the ride is on but when ever its not he does NOT!!!

Looking at pedrosa's stats from the 250s im sure they were on par with rossi's. At the end of the day if he wasnt a good rider he wouldnt have got the wins. I dont see how people can say he isnt that good when hes one of about 5 to get wins this season along with rossi, stoner, cv .

Comparing him to hayden they are total opposites. Hayden is much bigger + more like rossi's build. This shows that the honda is struggling as neither one of them are doing particularly well.

On sunday pedrosa proved he wil challenge rossi and fight + if that dice would have been against any other rider i think he would have won.

So now we're down to semantics? One last gasp before you admit Pedrosa can't take the fight to Rossi, mainly because he is inexperienced and unskilled when dueling is necessary?

Anyone who has watched a lot of GP can't help but chuckle when they see Pedrosa put his head down when it's obvious he doesn't have the tire or the skill to runoff. All he did by upping the pace was wear what little tire he had left so he couldn't mount a charge once Rossi got by.

Two guys have found ways to beat Rossi. One made last corner manuevers, the other one uses straight line speed to make time and save his tires, then breaks Rossi on the last lap.

Pedrosa tried to win on lap 20 whatever, the same way he's tries to win from the start---run for his life. It shows he has a race dogma and he's not in GP to make any kind of improvement to his game.

Contrast that with Stoner who has ridden with Rossi even though most times he has the power and the tire to leave him behind. The experience he's getting by sparring with Rossi will give him a huge advantage when the Ducati isn't as dominant as it is now.
