Just got his email. Damian will be replacing capirossi at japan this weekend. Should be some good exposure for him, this bloke is quick. (on a superbike anyway)

Yeah, I read it on crash.net as well.

Good for him, hopefully he does well enough for him to get noticed for further rides.

Have to say though, what a way to make your MotoGP debut................on a Ducati!

That being said if he does half well it will give him even more credibility.

Cheers

I love Cuddo as a rider and a bloke. He is a really proud Aussie and funny as hell but a motogp debut on a Ducati will show two things.

Just like Ben Bostrom (remember that disaster) he ain't ready for the level and intensity to even be a well placed back marker (sorry Cuddo) and the bike he is on is a Ducati, which no one except Stoner can ride and he isn't riding one of the wretched pieces of .... and cannot even offer advice and guidance on how to peddle the two wheeled Italian jalopy.

Sorry Cuddo - they should have pressed ganged Iannone into the position (or one of the hotties from moto2). This is going to do you no favours.

I disagree Andy, I don't expect wonders out of him, but I think he is ready for grand prix, poor ....... just doesn't have the cash. It's a good opportunity to show them how well he can work in grand prix. Remember he went really well in moto 2 and he is spending slot of time on the suter BMW.

I would have to disagree as well, theres no reason at all that Casey couldn't or wouldn't pass on any tips on riding the duck (unless its in his contract) even so I'm pretty sure that even if Casey gave Damian all the help in the world and them some more he still wouldn't be a threat.

But yeah I do think it will be abit of a baptism of fire.

Cheers

So this is the bet - he qualifies last and either finishes last or has a DNF (no order - i.e. he doesn't have to be the first DNF). Ben Bostrum also looked good but this level is different.

I hope you win the bet, I think Cuddo is great.

The bet (long term payment) is lunch when I'm back on a bike at the Bearded Dragon Tavern (Mt Tamborine Rd). You as a Gold Coaster are only a stones throw from me at Murwillumbah and I guarantee we have ridden many of the same roads.

You on?

Damn !!! I'd like to loose that bet too!!

Love riding to restaurants/cafe's in the north coast area !!

One of the best rides I can remember was just a short hop from Macleans Ridges down to NewryBar for Breaky with my brother and our kids. Oldest cousin of the kids drove them all down and we rode ...... ride home in a torrential downpour was still great.

Nah man, I don't expect any better than last, I just think he can show off his work ethics to the big boys. It would be silly to think otherwise
<
I do think though that he is ready for a crack at it full time, maybe then we could see some results. God knows we need an Aussie with a personality haha.

The bet, Barry, as soon as I'm on two wheels I'm coming to you (or vice versa) to cut a few k'ms. Same goes any powerslide member in Australia.

I've had my near death experience and when I ride again I'm not going to let silly excuses get in the way of "my life take 2".

This forum and my "analog" friends have got me a long way along the path to recovery and I will not skimp on offers like Jumkie's Laguna offer any more.

But Digger - the lunch bet Bearded Dragon Tavern Mt Tamborine is still there....

Edit: Hell, I'll buy win lose or draw, it's just an excuse for a ride and a feed

Haha sounds good mate

Later this week I will finish some video editing (soundtrack) and post my last taped ride before the crash which was Burringbar Range. Ashy thinks it was a shame that I didn't have the camera running for the crash (morbid .......). He is currently on Ogrish watching a video titled "driver films his own death" and pointing it out to me.

Hinze Dam (Numinbah Valley to those South of the border) - what a hoot!

The .... thing is I still have 5 weeks until I put weight on the right leg let alone use it (being injured is ......).

Yes yes we know how you Texoids operate ........ big talk/big words but no real show ......

Cudlin is probably very alien to you guys ..... so here

Diggs, I reckon if he finishes he will not be last .............. there, said it.

I am comfortable that he will beat Elias at least.

Curve, to be fair he is one of the Aussie journeymen that ply their trades in various race series world wide (as does his brother Alex).

Having met both at races I can say that these are two decent guys who genuinely just love riding bikes fast and have the ability to do it. Neither guy is particularly 'money' or even 'recognition' driven instead preferring to go relatively unheralded in this country anyway.

I doubt that any Aussie would begrudge this opportunity to Damian and I for one hope he makes an absolute success of it as his one race stint in MG2 showed the guy can indeed ride and is deserving of a look in.

He is likely one of the untold number of guys with a profile that is so small that we (the wider fans) often overlook just what they have done over the years and as such we ask why when we should instead be asking why so long
