The COTA debacle as you put it counts as with any other situation. The Honda may be slow, fast, have a technical issue under braking. If he goes down as a result of a fault with the bike, it counts as much as him winning because the bike has performance in it. Can't have it both ways.

it sometimes happened and will happen again in the future, but not to the guy who won every single motoGP championship he entered but one...at least for the next 10 years or so

Dovi did nothing wrong and has no blame for the incident. People trying to point their finger at Dovi are just regurgitating what the POS commentators were trying to say to deflect some of the blame off Lorenzo. Lorenzo said himself that Dovi was simply setting himself up for a good corner exit. Dovi had every right to use a wide entry, he had the line. Lorenzo never once said that Dovi ...... up on the brakes and that's what caused him to crash. Lorenzo was trying to outbrake Maverick in doing so he put himself on a collision course with Dovi.
Dovi wasn't beating MM either way? Huh? Dovi has beaten MM before and MM hadn't won at Catalunya since what... 2014? It was definitely not a certainty that MM was going to win.

Of course Dovi can and does beat MM in races. The fact MM will accept not winning a given race now for the sake of the title rather than crash out trying to win any and every race is why I agree Dovi is unlikely to beat him for a title now though. It will require a competitor to have markedly superior equipment, or a health issue for MM for him to lose. He has started to have the odd injury problem though, you don’t bounce as well the further away you get from being a teenager, and his riding style is still pretty out there.
Credit to Rossi for his behaviour over this incident as others have said btw, I have no complaint with how he has comported himself this year, and he seems to have returned to having pretty much the attitude of 2013, the year he returned to Yamaha.

Sorry but Lorenzo is finished, he can't seem to stay on the Honda and what's more at the end with Ducati he was WORSE. He actually managed to highside himsilf on a straight!
Why Honda signed is still amazes me... no one else wanted him! and now Honda could lose the Team and Factory championships because of his third rate attitude and performances.
