Burgess: No trouble found on Rossi's engine

Stoner not falling off the Ducati, its a hard bike to fall off and Stoner proved that because he was a consistant tosser last year
<

Andrew, Stoner did fall off the Ducati plenty of times this year during practice (I dare say more often than many others) so it shows the bike can be fallen from.

What it also shows is that Stoner is/was smart enough to learn those limits in practice and therefore not make the mistake in the race and therefore manage a perfect record season (perfect in no DNF's).

The issu many people seem to have is that CS crashed a lot in 2006 but not in 2007 and therefore the TC must be to blame, but maybe the old saying is also true. You can teach a fast rider who crashes a lot to stop crashing, you can't teach a slow rider to be fast.

You have a different way of thinking thats for sure ....

When Stoner falls its down to him... ???

When Rossi falls ..... its the tyre, its the bike its the TC

Its down to the rider when they fall but for different reasons.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BarryMachine @ Nov 11 2007, 05:07 AM) <div class='quotemain'>

And when Rossi loses its everybody/thing elses fault?? Who is responsible when he won??

Rossi has put himself in a position of the underdog so when he wins it has alot more to do with him... fact!

You have consistently expressed a dislike of Stoner ... I originally put it down to a "religious" like idolisation of Rossi, on your part ..... but my son met a guy the other day who knew Stoner in Kurri ..... and he has a now joking dislike of Casey ..... the reason ..... Casey stole his girlfriend
<
<
<

His girlfriend is nice looking but thats not the reason i dislike him.

He bores me greatly, he has no entertainment value and hes too serious.
If Rossi's yamaha was the one with the speed advantage he would not go off into the distance every single time, he puts a show on and thinks of the viewers including you!

Stoner is responsible for the big dip in viewing figures this season, my suspicions where confirmed when he was still wanting to go off into the distance with his very fast bike even after he had the championship won. He knew the situation with Dorna but he still didn't care he is self centered.

wasn't that the first race of the season and the wet one...
<

Well so what!! ??

It was like that for all riders there those days ...... do you really see these things as being excuses?? Excuses for what?? why Stoner won .... well yeah ... you just came up with some good points:

As hard as it was at Qater .... what with the natural conditions that would make everyone fall ..... Stoner managed to stay on that automated fun ride ( the Ducati ) and got the lollipop at the end. Thats not far from what you are saying .....
<
<

As hard as it was for every rider at Donington ..... because Casey made it rain special slippery rain for anyone who's name doesn't start with Casey Stoner .... Stoner won ..... and really that was one of the best rides I've ever seen..... so too was Edwards that day ....
<
<

Can't you see the strangeness of your excuses?? There seems no logic to them .... or some wacky logic is needed to explain them being real....
<

I really think you come up with the oddest excuses ......

Well I personally wish he'd stop with the shows .... I preferred his riding ..... it'd be a real sad day when I watched GP's for the "show" of it!!

Niether you nor I can honestly say whether the Duc. or the Yam is faster, corners better, brakes better, etc. etc. etc. ..... thats part of the success of the formula ...... different riders, bikes, teams, fuel, tyres, everything ... all thrown into a race package.... to see who wins ..... and thats about as far as one can tell ...... really Duc. must be loving Stoner ... how good could it get ..... A rider who was not highly ranked last year wins extensively on their bike .... and makes it look great!! ..... but to their credit Duc. where the first folk out there raving about Stoner.

i just see things with the glasses off, i'm not convinced about stoner and he does have the best bike out there... is that even arguable?

this reminds me of Rossi at Honda when he had the best bike out there and i was a little sceptical of him but i'm not ashamed to admit that... but back then it was more about throttle control and talent was easier to spot.

Nowadays the bike plays a bigger role than the rider... is that even arguable?

Wow you are unbelievable.
His job is to win as many races as possible and I'm sure Ducati would be more than a little peeved if he told them he let the others catch up so an4rew wouldn't be bored. There is only one way to enjoy the racing more. Open both eyes. If you don't mind making yourself look silly - hey be my guest.

The fact that Valentino beat Colin and Casey beat Loris easily and on a regular basis completely goes against that statement. Which one of those motogp bikes did you ride to decide this was fact and not arguable?

So, if Rossi has put himself into the position of underdog, why are people complaining about the performance of the bike etc?

I would expect that if Rossi did this so that he can prove that 'when he wins it has alot more to do with him' he has no right to whinge/complain/whatever when things aren't to his liking. Because, by your 'fact' this would indicate that he is deliberately suffering.

Sounds like bollox to me as no racer (and Rossi is a racer) would deliberately place themselves into a position that meant hindering their ability to win, but hey, you say it is fact.

Rossi has been the victim this year of a number of bad circumstances that combined to make this a very forgettable year (for him).

CS doesn't bore me, sure he also doesn't make me want to hear every word but as a racer and rider he entertains me (as do all of them) by simply showing me the all round ability and skill it takes to ride so damn fast. I can enjoy a race won by 20 seconds just as much as a race won by .002 of a second.

And if you were a major sponsor of Rossi, would you be happy if 'he was thinking of the spectators' and screwed up, failing to finish. I say not.

No, IMO Rossi not running off into the distance is all about Rossi and the way he enjoys himself (and thet is not intended to sound negative), it just happens to fit within what some people want from their entertainment.

But to do this he has to dominate and have total confidence in himself and the machine package, this is something he has had in spades, this year he did not.

Now he is 'responsible for the big dip in viewing figures this season', is he also to blame for global warming and everything wrong in the world?

Stoner fell off more than twice in practice (I recall twice at PI alone) but you have no got me thinking how many other times.

I recall one were it was a wet practice (Motegi maybe) and somewhere else. Actually, you have now got me thinking.

Is there anywhere that does keep a tally?

If this forum had existed 10 years ago I can assure you that there would have been plenty of loyal one-eyed aussie supporters waxing lyrical about a certain Mick Doohan...

But then again maybe you weren't aware that there was actually a world motorcycle championship in existence before Vale burst onto the scene...

Many Rossi supporters on this forum I can assume are almost salivating at the thought of Casey having a less than stellar year in 2008 but I'm now more than ever hoping that Stoner hands out another can of whoop-... on the whole lot of them just to shut them up once & for all... or will the requirements change again?

By the way... we have plenty of Italians here in Oz already & they're great folk. Feel free to come join us in the land of plenty!

I'm afraid this whole thread has lost its topic some time ago, since it started with 'No trouble found on Rossi's engine' and it's ending with Stoner.

That's telling though, and we could update the topic into 'No fault found with Stoner'
<

Stoner is damn good, period. He has blitzkrieged on his red Ducati right into Rossi's and Pedrosa's garden and he is there to stay imo, I've seen many riders in my life and I believe he is a real deal, - all I want now is just that Rossi and Pedrosa and possibly others fight him as well as they can and we can have wonderful races in spite of TC and 800cc and 21 liters and tyres and whatever.

If you have a fast bike theres no real need to over do it, the other riders mainly Rossi had to compensate alot by taking risks out on the track.

Thats the way it looks anyway.

I don't think you'd be saying that if you had actually watched the way Casey put the Ducati through turns. Nor if you'd seen the way its thrown him off in practice sessions on a few occasions. He was never taking it easy.

Whilst this forum is not called the aussie forum or the casey stoner forum it is also not called the valentino rossi forum, and everyone's posts being paeans to valentino seems to be the only thing which would make you happy. I find it interesting that trenchant and unrelieved criticism of casey stoner by a poster is just an honest expression of opinion, whilst applied to any other rider it is called trolling; I am not suggesting most rossi fans do this.

You may not have noticed, but stoner won 10 races and the world championship this year, and his supporters many of whom are australian are enthusiastic about this. As far as I am aware ducati operated under the same rules as everybody else, and stoner was not involved in the design of the yamaha engine or the manufacture of the michelin tyres.

I personally think criticism of valentino is quite stupid; if he retires tomorrow he is still arguably the greatest ever, and I don't think it was possible to do any better than he did with the equipment he had this year as he said in his most recent interview. He also seemed to imply in this interview that he thought casey was a fairly good rider, which is all that most australian posters are saying.

When valentino wins his next world championship (I predict 2009) in the nature of things this forum will probably return to the way you like, and I will regard this as being appropriate and won't complain.

Well , now we've turned it into a Stoner forum I may as well say.....um...not much!
<
Oh, BTW who is 2007 motoGP world champ? Haha, we're biased Aussies to a certain degree because Stoner's an Aussie. Big deal - I can guarantee you 99% of Aussies are also Vale fans, much like the rest of the world.
On topic, I think Burgess and Rossi seem to still be getting on fine. I think Rossi's frustrated and so is Burgess. I would think Burgess wants to see Rossi win just as much as Rossi, after all he's Vale's chief mechanic and Rossi winning put's more feathers in his own cap.
Yamaha are the one's who need to pull their fingers out and produce a better bike.

On topic - I think something went wrong with the electronics of valentino's bike, which may also explain why the bike tossed him off in practice and led to him breaking his hand in the first place.

Maybe the electronics where faulty all season, thats the only possible reason Rossi lost right? Now thats cleared up does it feel any better?
