I don't disagree;

“If a rider has to come it would be interesting to have one from Aprilia or KTM, who would bring some more knowledge.

“I could be an example [of that] coming from Ducati. Having said that, should a new rider come, he has to be technical, able to share information, and give feedback in the right way that’s understood.”

Somebody coming from a stronger machine in the same class will have a better undersanding of where the weaknesses are in comparison.

Not a bad idea in general to have the most talented rider you can find, but it probably would not even be in Toprak’s interests to go to Honda unless the forthcoming re-designed bike is a vast improvement, he doesn’t have several years to wait for the bike to become competitive. Marini is perhaps attempting some self justification to a degree, but he is probably correct Honda need a rider who can give precise feedback/ contribute to developing the bike more than they need a rider faster than him at present.

Neither agree or disagree on Toprak at Honda. The problem is known, what they don't know is how to fix it without breaking something else.

Anyway silly season wise Honda still hasn't signed Mir despite it been reported as a done deal, I'm assuming that Mir will remain at Honda but wonder why it isn't signed. That leaves Naka's bike

I think Yamaha have got a better chance of sorting the M1 out before Honda does of doing that with the RC213V. I'm interested in seeing how the Honda gets around Silverstone this year with all of the bumps in the tarmac from the F1 cars. Not for the faint of heart.
Agree about Silverstone. Marini will likely be top Honda as the only HRC rider to finish the race, yet still outside the points.

I hope they don't take Miller. TBH I would have though they'd want to keep Oliveira for consistency. He knows the RSGP both in it's 2023 and 2024 guise.

In the light of all that happened recently, I don’t mind seeing Miller at Pramac Yamaha.
The next two years for them is for rebuilding with no major expectations on results. Let him share what he can about Ducati and KTM, do what he can on the track and then retire at the end of it.

Miller and a Moto2 hotshot? Sounds like a good combo to me.

But which Moto2 Hotshot? Jake Dixon just had a podium so I guess that means it's time to start throwing his name out there even though it shouldn't be. Garcia is still a bit green even though he's doing very well. I kind of fancy Alonzo Lopez myself.

Idk if Jake isn't too old. Lopez has been less impressive than the other Boscoscuro riders so far imo.
I'd like to see Garcia or Gonzalez myself, maybe Canet.

Jake is a good rider, but like Canet I'm not sure he's at the level of progressing to MotoGP. Both of them have had a lot of time to win a championship.

Lopez is fast, but he’s made a habit of burning through the Pirellis 5 laps into a race, so I don’t know if he will do any better in MotoGP.

Canet, I don’t know really as he’s had one win after all these years in Moto2, and has a habit of falling off unforced.

Dixon is pushing 29, so maybe not. Or maybe he’ll get an end of career hurrah like Lüthi or Simeon. He definitely has the right passport.

Garcia rides like he’s ready for a bigger bike and so does Ogura. These are my picks TBH.

Completely agree with that assessment @synn

Unfortunately, since it takes at least one full season to acclimatise to the category, and 33/34 years seems to be the breaking point with regards to competitiveness, you don't want to invest in a rider who is older than 28, unless he's exceptional or brings other benefits.

I wonder if the threshold for the riders coming up is a big narrower for the upcoming two seasons, as teams set up to maximise the current regulations.

That might give a longer shelf life to the likes of Miller, Zarco, Morbidelli and co

What's the latest on GP25's? On another forum there are those who think that DiGi-VR46 and AM-Gresini are getting one each
