Ogura has already distances himself from Idemitsu this season, for me that looked like taking his future in his own hands, rather than just accepting second tier Japanese rider for HRC
Apparently, he left Honda team Asia due to differences with the team management, but is still connected with HRC.
But yes, I’d rather he takes his future into his own hands as well.

@Barbedwirebikerr Ogura to Pramac is a good shout. I’d rather see him on an improving M1 than an RCV that will break his will.

Either him or Sergio Garcia would be great IMO.
Given nice things he's been saying about Yamaha, I wonder if Morbidelli will remain at Pramac. I'm aware that he would like to stay on a Ducati, and is eyeing Bez's seat, but it also looks to me that he is being careful not to say anything that would upset Pramac and Yamaha.

Agreed, he has been wording his thoughts carefully; leaving the door open. Which is a smart thing to do as a rider.

I personally think there are more deserving riders for that seat, though; unless he rapidly improves his performance from here on (Which riders are known to do when their seats are on the line).

Ricard Jove is reporting that Miller- Gresini and Diggia-Pramac are being discussed now.

Pramac and VR46 clarified yesterday that they are not interested in Toprak; Gresini left that door slightly ajar, but I still consider it a distant possibility.

I would personally prefer Miller to Pramac and Diggia to Gresini. Miller has had his fair (more than fair) crack of the whip, and surely his experience of factory (even if a few years ago) Ducatis and KTMs would help Yamaha. But, what I think is no consequence to anyone :D

This is a fair assessment and one of the likely outcomes as well. I suspect Yamaha is willing to pay a premium for Diggia as opposed to Miller (Which seems fair).

Only 3 factory Ducati’s from next year.
A retrograde move, and a sign that the Audi penny pinching is real.
Perhaps they think that the extra feedback from the 4th bike isn't worth the cost. Or that since there are only three places on the podium they don't need any more bikes (not serious). EDIT: Could it be due to plans to have a rookie in a team (Aldegeur?) and they don't think it's necessary to give that rider the latest bike? There is a bit of recent history of riders being able to demonstrate their capabilities on year old bikes. Or maybe they offered a team two GP25s, but the team chose not to run two of them for cost reasons? Could there be value in a team running both a current year bike and a last year's bike to give updated knowledge on how they compare? And so on...

I think it's good if Yamaha keep Rins. While the Yamahas and Hondas are behind, if they keep dumping riders who have fallen backwards on the grid on their bikes, then I could imagine other riders becoming increasingly reluctant to sign with them. There have been comments from Mir about him losing popularity among teams.

Many possible reasons these changes could be occurring.

Audi could be pessimistic and pinching pennies. Despite helping Ducati reach dizzying new heights of sales and revenues, they are struggling to find a buyer at their price point.

Audi might understand the concept of marketing depletion. Like over-farming a field, dominating a sport and demoralizing opponents depletes the value of the spectacle. Or maybe Italians would prefer to compare MotoGP to wine making. If the grapes have it too easy, the wine has no character or richness of flavor. The championships need to be a fight to survive to hold any value.

It’s also possible that Liberty Media have given Dorna a healthy amount of leverage, and Liberty expect MotoGP to function like a traditional sport with salary caps, talent drafts, budget caps, etc. Reducing the factory bike count will lessen the pressure in the other manufacturers who are being demoted.

Yes it was entirely due to bad blood that Pedrosa got the boot, which tells me volumes about Puig as a manager. He helped hamstring the race team just to settle a personal vendetta against a rider as I recall he nearly killed at the Sachsenring in 2008. When he had the false information put out on the pit board to cause Dani to push harder than he should have been and had that massive crash

.

I remember seeing that race live, and I was wondering what Pedrosa was doing pushing so hard.

BTW: Pedrosa is currently ahead of Luca Marini, on a factory Honda, in the 2024 MotoGP championship standings.

There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for Ducati to spend bulk, they are so far ahead that a slightly smaller budget will bring in almost the same amount of revenue and they will still have enough second hand bikes to cover the satellite teams for 2026

In regards to the 3 GP25's who will get the 3rd bike?

I could see VR46 winding up with one of those GP25's assuming they resign DiGi. I don't see Gresini getting that bike if they couldn't get it for Marc to stay there. There'd be nothing wrong with Alex getting that bike but I can't see it happening as he's not at that elite level where it'd make sense to give him one of the new bikes.
