Deniz is there or thereabouts, but he's not yet really stepped up. His only championship win that I know of was the Asia Talent Cup in 2017. In Moto3 and Moto2, his best championship result so far is 4th. He was in Moto3 for five years, and doesn't lack experience. Riders can take a sudden step up, but I've not yet seen that from Deniz.
He’s a slow burner for sure, but the raw talent is there. His time in Moto3 was mostly inhibited by a lack of mental maturity, hopefully that’s a thing of past now.

I believe that’s his brother, but I may be wrong.

That's his brother Can Oncu, but his number in WSS is 61, not 54. Unless the 54 means something else.

Can Oncu scored more points and a higher championship position with one race in Moto3 in 2018 than he did with 16 races in 2019. I thought he was going to be going skyward after seeing his win in 2018, but then, the promise wasn't fulfilled. 1 win in Supersport in ... how many seasons?

EDIT: Oh, 54 in WSS is Bahattin Sofuoğlu. Back where we started: Sofuoğlu family - Wikipedia

Oh great, the Toprak to HRC rumors for 2025 have begun.

I think journos are willing to print anything at this point. HRC is a desperate team and that lends plausibility to outlandish rumors. Maybe it's true, who knows? I'll be sad to see him go, if he does find a ride.

Toprak to HRC just seems all kind of wrong to me. HRC needs riders who have recent experience of the European bikes to guide their development. And why would Toprak leave what might be becoming domination in WSBK for a back-marker (sad to say, in 2024) team?

Maybe convince Bautista to stay on for another year or two? Seems like it would be a fight with Bulega unless somebody steps up. There is a considerable gap. I don't think Locatelli is a true threat.

It's possible for Honda to bring Raz in while retaining Mir;
Scenario 1 - Raz takes the Asian seat in LCR. Turkey is a bit a stretch to keep the current sponsorship of that seat
Scenario 2 - Raz takes Marini's seat with Marini back to VR46 to take Bez's seat

Marini is doing a lot worse than Zarco who comes from a similar situation and must be really unhappy with that, a gentlemen's agreement could be made

BTW what is Raz's contract with BMW? Is it just this year?

Not surprised, he has been the name thrown around most since Vinales left
I'm somewhat surprised he's actually leaving VR46.
I guess Pramac to Yamaha is close to a done deal now.

Not in a million years. Toprak would absolutely destroy his career with that move.
I could see him joining MotoGP together with BMW in 2027 though.

On a side note, Man... silly season is happening earlier and earlier every year.

It's a good distraction during the weeks between races, but I find too much of it takes me out of the moment and kind of detracts from the enjoying of the current season, and this is thus far, a really exciting one. Not into Ram Dass, but I do try to "Be here now".

I just hope that if Toprak comes to MGP, it is with a competitive ride and a competitive team. As others have said, hopefully not Honda.

KTM!!!
