Rossi deserves great credit for the academy and the renaissance of Italian riders in the sport, Bagnaia being the most successful so far and one who has succeeded greatly, rand I for one am very happy to give it to him.

Boasting publicly about advising Pecco on how to deal with MM not so much, given it pre-supposes two things, firstly that Valentino has or ever had any expertise in how to deal with MM, and secondly that MM did something dastardly to Rossi, neither of which I consider to be true.
He used to do that with Pecco (And the other academy riders) long before Marquez joined Ducati- ie Racecraft advice. As I remember, the advice to Pecco usually is to not choose the wrong ....... tyre which according to Rossi, is something he did a lot.

I'm sure the academy didn't hurt but I'm thinking the fact he is insanely talented at racing motorcycles played a wee part in him getting/having a career. One has to be pretty darn good to be invited to the academy or so I would think.
Yes, but having talent isn’t enough, as we know. The academy was the first properly structured program to bring Italian riders into the world championship, and has a solid track record at that.

One look at someone like Joel Kelso tells you how an Academy like setup could benefit non Italian riders. Maybe a post KTM project for Miller?

Then Rossi identified and nurtured that talent. Whatever talent there was in Italy wasn't going anywhere much for more than a few years prior to the academy.

Sure Rossi was a great tactician as a racer, and advising his proteges at the academy about tactical matters would obviously have been a major and valuable part of their riding education at the academy.

We both know what I am talking about however, Rossi continuing his vendetta against MM this season, and the clear implication that Pecco needed his advice on how to deal with MM's dirty tricks, of which there have been none.

I really have very little problem with Bagnaia, I consider him to be a very good rider who may end up an all time great, perhaps in short order, and he can have whatever personality is natural for him as far as I am concerned.
Naturally. He can have whatever personality he has. It's beyond his control. All this stuff is for the most part genetically predetermined. He didn't choose to be who he is. My point was merely that it works against him in terms of PR and the way fans respond to him. It takes nothing away from his prowess as a rider, which is indisputable. Neither Lawson, Roberts, Doohan, Mladin or one of my old favorites, Miguel Duhamel were warm and cuddly types. I admired the hell out of all of them.

I wonder if Rossi's need to rehash the one-sided vendetta he has against MM coincides with all of the attention MM has gotten over his comeback, as well as the shift in opinions towards Marc. Since his riders have been nowhere near Marc since those comments of his, I've got to wonder if he might keep his mouth shut for a bit.

Fat chance!

Interestingly, Ducati came up with an option for Marc and Jorge to 'fight to the death' for the 2025 factory ride. Predictably, neither rider wanted to play that game, because neither of them had to.

This would have obviously been an inherently bad idea to take on.

Not with the points gap being what it is considering he's on last year's bike. It's going to take a major stroke of good fortune to turn the tide to a point where he could actually win the title.

JM is still the favorite regardless of how dynamics have changed in the last several days. I suspect he will be riding with a mission just to try and show Ducati they were wrong. Might lead to some big fireworks now.

Fat chance!

Well he will be running his mouth soon enough, I just wonder if the current status of his riders compared to Marc might have caused him to take a temporary brake. Though I suspect he's probably trying to get a GP25 for one of his riders.

Question is for who? Digia seems to be the one who's result merit it more but I bet thats not who he'd go with.

I agree with Synn that Bezz to Aprilia might be a goer. And where does Aldeguer go ?. Report on crash today for all their talk that Pramac still haven’t put pen to paper to be with Ducati next year btw.

Good point but....and I'm not trying to be confrontational.....how did other Italian riders prior to the academy make it?

I don't see Bezz going to Aprilia now that the got Martin. I can't see Mav leaving unless Aprilia aren't trying to re-sign him. Going to honda would be career suicide. But I guess it would be the first time he tried to kill his career. Nor the second.
