So for the 3rd time (at least) this season Marquez picks Rossi to help tow him to a good qualifying position and people are upset because they end up getting in each other's way? The bored "fans" are more upset over it than either of the riders. Anything for some excitement I guess.
I stand corrected. The Dorna broadcast didn't show Rossi invalidate his lap at turn 6. In which case Valentino was in the wrong. I have yet to see the footage. Was it obvious he had run wide or marginal?
Edit: Having now watched the replays and Marc's testimony I'd say by the looks of it they both reasonably thought they hadn't exceeded track limits.
I'd say it's still fair game for both unless of course Valentino or Marc were aware that the laps were invalidated in which case its just petty.

Marc Marquez has given his opinion of the last-lap tangle with MotoGP rival Valentino Rossi, during qualifying at Misano, for which both have been summoned to appear before the FIM Stewards.
Marquez had been following Rossi before launching a close inside pass at the fast Curvone turn, only to run wide on the exit, for which he would have lost the lap for exceeding track limits.
That mistake also put Rossi back on the tail of the Honda and the Italian, perhaps unhappy at the previous pass, then dived inside at the Turn 14 hairpin, a move that forced both riders to sit up and run wide.
But it later emerged that, unseen on the live broadcast, Rossi had also exceeded track limits earlier in the lap.
Marquez and Rossi will appear before the FIM Stewards later this afternoon.
"At first I didn’t understand what happened because that kind of overtake in qualifying practice is a little bit strange," Marquez said. "I don’t know what the intention was, you must ask him. But anyway I will explain from the beginning to be clear because people will say 'he was following again Valentino' but it was not like this.
"I went out from the box on my last run and, you check, I was completely alone. Then when I arrived at the back straight Valentino was waiting or riding very slow and then I just stopped behind him, because of course I was in front of him in the timesheets and my intention was not to push until my last lap.
"We started the last lap, I put some gap between us. Then when we went out from Turn Six he touched the green so his lap was cancelled. Then I saw he was riding fast, but not super fast. Then I had the chance to overtake on the back straight.
"It's true that then in the fast corner I touched the green, but I only saw on the TV [after] because on the bike I didn't realise. So I kept pushing, but then we arrived at Turn 14, I just go in and I saw one black-and-yellow bike arriving very fast on the inside with a speed that was impossible to turn the corner.
"Lucky for me I was able to avoid the crash, this was a good reaction. And the second reaction with my hand, I want to be clear that it was not to say 'sorry' it was just to say 'what's going on here?' because I didn't understand.
"But anyway the best thing for me is that this time I was able to avoid the crash."

Marquez would later repeat the phrase 'this time I was able to avoid the crash' (see below) prompting many to feel he was referring to the infamous Sepang 2015 clash, when Rossi - angry at fierce opposition from the Spaniard as he battled Jorge Lorenzo for the title - launched a similar block pass that ended with Marquez on the ground.
The Repsol Honda rider, firmly on course for his sixth MotoGP crown, added that he feared an injury during today's incident - but did not want to comment on a possible penalty for the home hero:

It's not savage, penalizing someone that isn't in the run for the championship doesn't have much of an affect on them. It would only matter if they were close in championship points.
Savage was the calling him a non contender part, because he is not important any more.

"Not contender for the championship" is what you bolded as savage. I don't see how that's a savage comment, it's just the truth. At this stage of the season, there isn't anyone else in contention for the championship. Even Vinales just said "I have nothing to lose and everything to win". Everyone is so far behind in points, .... doesn't matter at this point.

Let me get this straight. The fastest Honda rider was getting a tow from the slowest Yamaha rider?
My remote only gives me programs from different stations. Yours gives you races from alternate realities.

You should probably contact your TV provider because you've been missing the latest qualifying sessions if you haven't seen Marc cruising around looking for tows this season. Yes, he has chosen Rossi for qualifying tows or a rider to use as a reference multiple times this season.

Rossi, Marquez and Miller pretty much ground to a halt on the Wellington Straight as the trio waited to see who would lead. Needing a lap time, Rossi had to go, as Marquez and Miller slotted into Rossi’s tow. And it was a good tow. All three were up in the first sector, and the second, and then the third – Marquez it was that was under Quartararo’s time by the most though, 0.4 his advantage coming into the final section. Heading through Luffield, all three riders were still on for pole. Rossi rounded Woodcote and went P1, but Marquez immediately knocked the 40-year-old down to P2 as Miller made sure he would line up on the front row – Quartararo would have to settle for fourth as Miller and Rossi edge the rookie out.
That's not all, Marc did it earlier this season as well but I'm not motivated to search which round it was.
