Taking unnecessary risks may be fun, have done it myself in past. Is that what gods do?
The gods display other worldly skill, they toy with physics, gravity is a plaything to them...their opponents are mortals, Marc did all of that today and more.

Best there has ever been, best there ever will be.

Yes, Gods ride conservatively, safely and mitigate risk whenever possible... Gods would never dare put it all on the line for personal pride, to prove a point and to put on a spectacular show to entertain their fans...

No Way, not at the risk of crashing and maybe being injured or even worse losing a qualifying position...

Rossi fan?

I've been thinking why we have this phenomena, when some racer is winning then there is a numerous group of people who blindly believe their hero is a god. Even when this "hero" has rotten unethical personality like Rossi. The only thing I can think of it must be a part of herd instinct. When there is someone strong then weaker herd members involuntarily side with him/her. Yup, that must be it.

If you say so.

The term 'God' was used as a compliment in one of the comments, just like the words 'legend' 'alien' 'GOAT' and 'hero' get used frequently in discussions... are you seriously going to accuse anyone who uses one of these words with 'herd' mentality behaviour???

So you take risks comparable to what Marc did in that qualifying session? Care to elaborate?

I've got one for ya...

Back in the day my buddy and I would ride our 750 Interceptors 2.5 hrs to track days so we could show our back wheels to the trailer-queen crowd, then, after the 7hr track day ride the 2.5 hrs home. Because we could...

One time it started raining on track about ½ an hour before the session ended. We swapped out our slicks for roadies and started the long haul home. It quickly devolved into a deluge which left standing water on parts of the highway, often hard to see - let's say enough rain that some cages were pulling over at rest stops.

I guess we were still running on track-day adrenaline and courage because the trip home didn't take any longer despite the conditions. We were both pushing each other and out of control way more often than was sane on public roads. Ok, we had about ½ of MM's horsepower but we did it for two-and-a-half-.......-hours on public roads... oh yeah, it was also about 65° Fahrenheit after the rains came... MM's a wimp!!

And: oh - to be young again!!

Well deserved victory, dull race too. Nobody rising to Marc’s challenge. I guess we have to hope Horhay manages to tame the Honda the next season. Failing that, we’ll have to wait until Fabio and Miller get official rides

It's looking like Dalligna is threatening to leave Ducati if things don't change drastically. It seems he and Dovi are no longer good friends.

We can already say that the Ducati season did not start as planned in MotoGP, the inconsistency in the results of the GP19 desmosedici ended up creating a tense atmosphere inside the rossa garage.

In the team there is a mood of frustration, the last race in Sachsenring has highlighted some weaknesses: Steering, the bike suffers in winding stretches where normally Yamaha and Suzuki are highly strong, where Honda can also play its very well done role. .

Given this situation Danilo Petrucci said: It is very worrying that both in Assen and here we lose half a second per lap for the winner. The Italian was more emphatic: "We probably hit the bike limit."

Dovizioso on Petrucci's side said the team had been facing this same cornering problem for over four years. He said a new approach is needed to address this problem.

All this trouble falls on the lap of none other than Gigi Dall'igna, the father of desmosedici today. In Italy, journalist Maurizio Bruscolini reported that Gigi is losing patience, even thinking about seeking new horizons for a new project, the destination would be the well-heeled KTM.

It is too early to say what will happen at Ducati, but it is not from today that Gigi has been ignored for the team's top summit, here are some of the points that displeased the man in the Rossa garage:

- In 2016 Gigi went against Iannone's departure
- In 2018 Gigi was against Jorge Lorenzo's departure
- Following Jorge Lorenzo's departure, Gigi stated that Dovizioso had no ability to be world champion.
- Today Gigi and Dovi are not so friends in the Ducati pits, just the basics.

Taking into account these internal facts and which currently the two official pilots chorus against the current Ducati project it is possible to see some disunity in the Italian team's pits. May the next scenes of this novel come.

Does rather seem like what it claims to be: rumors.

Re: The Race . . . most exciting part was the 50 minute delay wondering if it would start to seriously rain, and then waiting to see if everyone would make it through turn one. After that, all downhill.
