Far better season if it all goes to Valencia undecided.

Sure, if it is because two or more riders are so closely matched that the title is still undetermined. Not just so the result of the last race is meaningful though, if someone is so superior that they clinch the title with several races remaining then that is the way it is, imo.

Wrong post to quote Michael .... but I get what you mean.

Sure, reading several threads at once after an interregnum I confused Cal not inspiring confidence with Zarco implying lack of confidence in his future KTM ride.

I have always been something of a Cal fan as you know and him winning would please me also.

IMO all the titles I have seen go down to Valencia, with the possible exception of 2006 have made for more boring races as the championship leader doesn't want to take risks and just rides for a position that he knows will give him the titles.

Interesting comment from Zarco post qualy.

"we have so good bikes, I want to enjoy it"

Is this a veiled admission that he has a hard road ahead on board the Kato?

I would say yes it's an admission he knows the KTM isn't up to snuff.

He never should have turned down the Honda ride regardless of MM being his teammate. If he wanted to win, he would have gone there as anything can happen and if he gelled well with the RCV, he could be in the title hunt instead of praying to not be stuck in Q1.

The other thing with Tech 3 is they haven't had too many good riders, so when they finally get one, the results are better. I would remind posters that Dovi finished 4th in 2012 on the Tech 3. Putting guys like Bradley Smith on that bike aren't going to do a whole hell of a lot over the course of the season. Look at Syahrin. He isn't doing anything on that bike because he isn't any good. Fielding backmarker riders on a M1 is going to give you .... results no matter how good the bike is, which it is. Put a halfway competent rider on the bike, suddenly the dynamic changes. Hope Herve enjoys KTM and mediocrity.

Sorry to jump in a little late, but I took a nap after qualifying and re-watched Q2. Quite a deal, hey? If this is what we want, Dorna has done a great job of evening-up the field. Two satellites from different teams on the front row. I can't remember when that happened before today. Cal was still moaning about the swingarm. Ah, maybe you don't want it, dummy. lol

I truly enjoy watching Zarco beat the Moviestar bikes. I have my fingers crossed that he and JLo will keep the pace this race and MM has to work his fanny off to get by.

It happened in Argentina as well.

Amazing lap by Cal, thoroughly deserved. Amazing laps by Zarco and Lorenzo, putting their team mates to shame.

Yamaha are in trouble. They have no more excuses. Either Zarco is an enigma who is making the 2016 bike look much better than it is or Yamaha have made 2 consecutive bikes worse and worse. Last yr Vinales was blamed but now Yamaha themselves cannot hide, and the blame has to lie with both riders.

Who would have bet against Marquez not crashing and still being off the front row?

Sorry not 2 riders, this is all about Rossi, he's mugged everyone in sight who could beat him, its an assassination of his fellow Yamaha riders ability to win now he's past it.

At our age we're entitled. -_-

No, the 2016 M1 performed well... it was easy to ride. That said, factory teams have to keep trying to improve and sometimes they move in the wrong direction. Yamaha moved in the wrong direction in 2017 and still haven't corrected their issues yet (they're also still playing catchup with electronics). They have the riders, they just need to make the right parts and adjustments to get the best out of their riders. Yamaha needs to find themselves an advantage somewhere. They can't keep depending on corner speed only for the Duc & RCV to instantly negate that small advantage by blowing by the M1 on the straights.

Given the way the 2016 iteration is performing, one would logically expect that the factory team would go back to those specs (if indeed that is actually possible) and build from there. The question is, are there sufficient (if any) of the 2016 spec chassis available for the factory team? That and, how many sealed engines does the team have to present to scrutineers (all?) at the beginning of the season? If all those sealed engines are already stamped as inspected, then there is probably little they can do beyond electronics fiddling in order to go backwards, to go forwards. For me personally, it's painful to see Vinales who was in such great form at the beginning of 2016, flailing away. Tho he looked solid this morning in QP2 despite the way the rear end was jumping around like a kangaroo milkshake. :)

That's either an insult to all Australians or my new favorite ... position.

Rossi was following Zarco around in Free Practice and Zarco pulled up. It was mind blowing to watch, really.

So Zarco pulled a Rossi manouvre did he,:giggle:

BTW I think this would suit Rossi more than what he is riding

By the way did anyone listen to Simon Crafar's interview with Uccio. I was rolling round the aisles when Simon asked what he did for Valentino.
