What's the likelihood that Marc has a DNF?

All it takes is a single DNF to put Him, Jorge, and Vale back in a tight race for the championship.

I noticed that during the post race pre-conference Rossi said he's not thinking about the championship anymore, just going race by race.

Anything can happen but MM seems to have matured a bit from last season. I don't see him crashing out of a race from being reckless. Anyone can make a mistake, however.

Much lower than last year, not nil. He didn't have that many in his title years, despite Lorenzo, Pedrosa and many others expecting one most races.

Agreed. If the race continues to be close, it's certainly possible we could see the old MM return to form. Honestly, I do love his reckless riding style. Very brave.

Obviously I'm cheering for Rossi, but I have the feeling deep down that he simply won't have enough to consistently beat MM or JLo.

I also don't really buy into people who are saying Lorenzo's confidence is shaken, and Rossi is in his head. Similar situation last year and he came back just fine.

One DNF is very likely in general, but for Marc it's a sure event.

I predict Rossi to win this title by some margin.

I'm a Rossi fan, so not arguing with you here, but do you REALLY think Rossi is going to win by dominate fashion?

I think Lorenzo is going to do a Sete and struggle mentally. That'll give Rossi a lot of points in the European races, where I expect the Honda to be weaker overall. Marquez will be stronger towards the end and he'll win races but it'll be too late to close the gap. Rossi will be as consistent as last year but also genuinely faster.

Michelins have a smaller margin for error than Bridgestones. There will be a fair amount of DNFs among the top 3.

Just curious, what makes you think JLo will struggle mentally?

It's a combination of issues. He hasn't got the recognition he expected from his 2015 "win" (I wonder why...), his position in the team weakened a lot after his ...... attitude last year (they hated him for it, Yamaha believed Rossi etc), he knows this might be the last season he wins any races (let alone titles), Rossi is even stronger than last year... Too much to take for a stroppy insecure type character.

Don't necessarily agree with much of it, if any, but sold answer. Thanks.

One thing, what was his "...... attitude"? (Don't bring up the thumbs down thing, that was one time and he owned up to it being a mistake and that he shouldn't have done it. One time does not make a ...... attitude.)

One more, believed Rossi about what?

Was curious as to the likely hood of finishing a season without a DNF or a DNS. So googled that .......

Last one was in 2010, Georgie. Rossi did it twice, 2003 and 2008. Stoner did it once, 2007.

So, with all that, new tires and such, I would have to say the likely hood of Marky Mark making it another 15 races without a scratch is very slim. Historically.

Lorenzo's a tough nut, but he's human. He's looking at a season that includes a smarter more mature Marquez who is just coming into his own, Michelin tires that have thus far not been kind to him, a seemingly revitalized Rossi, and the prospect of going to Ducati next season where it seems increasingly unlikely he will flourish; so this could well be his last chance season for getting another championship - which is a hell of a lot of pressure.

Not sure 99 will struggle mentally. For me he is the hardest bloke both physically and mentally on the grid.

Physically, assen and sachsenring 2013

Mentally last year putting up with that fiasco and still bringing it home. He broke Rossi in 2010 also

I find it odd how after one race of bad tire spin, everyone is like George is doomed.. He can't handle the tires.. Mentally weak and will struggle..

Jumping to a lot is assumptions after one race, but I guess that is what we do.

The season is early - JL/VR are no where near out of the championship even without any misfortune befalling Marquez

And that (as I said in another thread) is to me the story of 2015 thus far - the seeming maturing of Marquez into a rider who will accept a podium place when he realises that he cannot win or to push harder is likely to end in a trip to the gravel

Whilst I don't buy the 'in the head' BS i reckon you are on the right track - the sum of circumstances that have occurred are weighing on him as he knows at this stage he is not 100%

JL to be totally fair did not get a chance to celebrate his championship due to all of the other ambient issues and I do not just mean the last 3 races but the changes to bike regulations, electronic, tyres and so forth.

.

Would you agree that this is not the most exciting version of MM, though?

Yes.

Scarily exciting actually ........... particularly if he is able to maintain it as he has the speed, and if he gets the racecraft and race management (as it seems he has started the season) the guy will only again show the speed we saw in 2013/2014

If jumping to conclusions were a sport - PowerSlide would be an Olympics team.
