Looks like Michael Doohan shares my opinion regarding Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso.
I would say the large majority of GP fans think the same way.

I would add all people with functioning eyes as well
He seems to think he is a contender, but favours MM to actually win. As has been said, MM would have a comfortable lead but for a rare Honda engine failure. He could always have another, or crash out of a race, in which case Dovi is right in contention, but failing such occurrences I don't think Dovi will beat him on the track in the remaining races win the title.Oh, Doohan doesn't think Dovi is a contender? I have heard that somewhere, before.
Looks like Michael Doohan shares my opinion regarding Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso.
Grand Prix motorcycling legend Mick Doohan reckons Marc Marquez is "on another level" compared to his MotoGP title rivals.
Defending champion Marquez had a relatively slow start to the 2017 season, dropping 37 points off the championship lead after six races.
However, strong subsequent form, including four wins and seven podium finishes in the last eight races, has elevated the Honda rider to a 16-point lead in the standings over nearest rival Andrea Dovizioso.
Doohan, who was unbeatable in the 500cc motorcycle world championship between 1994 and 1998, considers Marquez better than the rest of the field.
"I think he is too strong at the moment, he is above his opponents," said Doohan.
"He is on another level. He is as good as [Valentino] Rossi - he is strong and confident, has a good bike, and gets better at races where he suffered last year.
"Marc keeps building up his already big confidence. His advantage in the championship is not very big, but he will be able to increase it in the next races."
Doohan reckons that, unlike Marquez, main rival Dovizioso is not able to "dominate" the top riders in MotoGP.
"Dovi is not in the same position of level as Marc," he added. "He has been fighting with the top riders for many years, but I don't know if he can really dominate them.
"But maybe I am wrong and Dovizioso will show it to me."
Literally no one under the sun that has watched motogp would think Dovi is better then Marc. .... 2 minutes of google searching could teach one that. But I said before the season Dovi could be a contender. Key words could and also contender. It not like I or anyone said, I think Dovi could win the championship. Which should be said about Marc every year. Simply looking at what Dovi did last year taking the dnf's that were not his fault away and he has about the amount of points that he does now. Add to that the lack of a competitive JLo and it puts him even closer to the top. Another factor Marc and himself. We know he will throw some race away, just how many is unknown and will he miss a race or not. But Marc and Stoner are talked about as the best of all time. So its not a shock that everyone rates Dovi lower.
Wow, Doohan has praised MM by saying "he is as good as Rossi". But isn't Rossi a talentless fraud, who only won because Dorna scripted races?
:fish: :fishing1:
IMO here, but if Marquez wants to be a GOAT, he needs to firstly start thinking like a GOAT, then eating like a GOAT and finally, looking like a GOAT.
Now, this will mean some sacrifices as he will need to grow a larger face and let the hair grow, plus he will need to walk on all fours and start climbing some pretty steep hills.
But from what I have seen of him as a human, I do feel that he likes a challenge and can see him making a great fist of this being a GOAT, but it will take time so we can't expect him to suddenly become a GOAT although I do wait with interest the transition.
Afterall, he may well be 'trans species'
That there maybe a contender of the goats. Though gary's got him covered.
I thought Krop said that almost every rider wanted #70?Oh I'm already on record as saying Rossi has talent numerous times. At any rate, all one has to do is watch Rossi at Donington 2005 to know he has talent. One can think he is talented and still think he is a scumbag. Doesn't require any mental gymnastics to do such a thing.
I think what has been said is Dorna has actively attempted to manipulate the technical regulations to benefit Rossi. This year was a good example with Option #70's reintroduction at his request. That is quite accurate and not up for debate. Though you've been attempting to debate just that for a bit from what I can ascertain from the posts of yours I have read.

Don't pay attention to what Krop says, he might as well be a Dorna employee . Goubert is on record as saying Rossi is the only rider complaining about the tire. When that was reported , numerous people here predicted a stiffer tire would be introduced and low and behold it was. Redding said the vote was a joke because everyone knew what was going down and it really wasn't going to affect many riders so they just went with it because it was going to happen. Lorenzo and Vinales both lobbied to keep both tires as the fair thing to do but this wasn't about being fair , it was about keeping Rossi and his fans happy so the cash kept flowing
I haven't seen any explanations "to [me]" at all, so your bar of being "pretty sure" appears to be concerningly low.I'm pretty sure it's been explained to you plenty of times what happened with that. They wanted the new and improved version that Michelin had taken away and worked on after everybody but Rossi rejected it.
I recall that Rossi (and possibly MM?) was the only one who initially complained - I agree with you there. I also recall that the chorus of voices agreeing with him gradually grew to the point that virtually everyone wanted it.
From your comment above, you appear to be conceding that virtually everyone voted for it? So do you consider that Krops was or wasn't lying about the fact that virtually everyone voted for the change?
As powerful as Rossi is, he's not so strong so as to make the grid vote for a tyre he likes! These are alpha male motorcycle racers, not toddlers.
The original tyre was called almost unrideable by Marquez. All riders but Rossi voted for the tyre they started the season on. After Qatar the riders asked for harder rubber on the tyre. Michelin decided this meant that the new proved Rossi tyre should be bought to Argentina but it's use was vetoed by the riders. Michelin stated publically that the riders had asked for a stiffer construction, the riders including Marquez state publically that it wasn't true and they had asked for harder rubber. The fact is that one rider voted for the #70 before the season had started and instead of improving the tyre that was chosen by all but one rider, Michelin went back and revised the #70 tyre and used the first excuse they could find to bring it to a weekend. It's important to know that at the meeting where the tyre was rejected that one of the riders yelled at Capirossi and said something along the lines of 'you don't bring me soecial tyres when I have a .... weekend' fact is, the majority of the riders felt the same way at the time the new tyre was proposed.
You might want evidence, so go back read every article you can pre and post Argentina but then more importantly watch all the press conferences. Watch for the inconsistencies in Michelins ever changing story and how the riders directly contradict what Michelin reports.
