YES!

Only Bridgestone (MONO GOMA)

Off topic somewhat, has anyone heard anything new on the rumored Red Bull sponsorship of Ducati? Ducati had a deal in place through 2008 with Gatorade which would have likely meant that Hayden and Kallio would require helmets that did not display the Red Bull logos but both still have the logos displayed prominently. With Hayden and Kallio currently backed by Red Bull, Stoner was backed by Red Bull until he was forced to drop the sponsorship because of Ducati's Gatorade ties and now Alice scaling back their efforts with Ducati, could Red Bull really be coming back to MotoGP with Ducati?

Cigarretes and energy drinks? All they need are some Golden Arches and motogp will have to come with a health warning. Ducati will be banned in England if they aren't more responsible with their sponsors. Being banned from the UK might work well for Stoner.

That matte black M1 would have burst into flames at Sepang this season.

when was the last time anyone saw nicky talking to his boss with a big ... grin on his face like this?

may take a while to dial in to the ducati and vice versa, but his head is already in the right place. 90% of the battle won, the rest is just time on the bike.
glad you hayden fans have some positive news again.

I agree ,far better than the blue and white.

No wonder Nicky looks happy, he must have really got to stretch his legs & ride a mansize bike.

Rather than a mini moto.

It's good to see noone is completely lost, especially the ducati riders.I hope there's some drytime tomorrow,it's supposed to be rain.

Damned! Looks like Kallio adapted in one day,i thought Canepa would be faster the first few tests, but i think it's only the factory teams tomorrow.Good to see Hayden finding his way pretty well.

Has anyone given it a second thought? Perhaps Elias is being groomed to be the token Spaniard at Dovi's Repsol Honda squad (assuming Pedrosa fails to deliver)? Maybe Honda will try to land Bautista on a Gresini for 2010 so they can give him a look?
Looks like Pedrosa may not deliver, though i think he can.Its funny how Honda are trying to cover all there bases, they let the Greatest rider of all time go, cos of there arrogance, in 2006 they had Stoner on there books too, i bet there Spewing about that hey..

Well a good first day of testing.

I agree its one of the best parts of the year. The anticipation is always so intense.

Seems like Hayden is happy, he made some qoute that Ducati should be paying Casey double as the bike is such a monster!!

Rossi looks speedy considering he only was on the bike for 2 hours (and yes that Yam looks so good in black)

Im just really happy to see casey already under his best race lap on the new bike. Considering its only the second time he has ridden it that is pretty impressive. I mean when you consider that its basically a completely new bike and concept that really is impressive.

Top 3 very predictable, they were the top 3 this season and will probably will be next season. Rossi is not at ease in Valencia, somewhere else he might been quicker.

1 Casey Stoner Ducati 1'32.464 31 / 54
2 Dani Pedrosa Honda 1'32.672 24 / 60
3 Valentino Rossi Yamaha 1'32.921 20 / 34

I think Suzuki improved something (new 2009 bike?), the riders are a known quantity, good but not great, so IMO bike is better.

4 Chris Vermeulen Suzuki 1'33.142 41 / 67
5 Loris Capirossi Suzuki 1'33.325 37 / 75

Alex doing pretty fast laps, he likes this circuit a lot (his first and only victory was here), I still think he's an average rider.

6 Alex de Angelis Honda 1'33.375 35 / 77

Not bad for being their 1st day on Bstone rubber, 2 guys to be taken into consideration for next season's championship.

7 Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha 1'33.550 41 / 44
8 Andrea Dovizioso Honda 1'33.675 38 / 57

Marco already as quick as John, I get 3 conclusions from this: John is an average rider, West didn´t deserve to be in MotoGP, Marco is fast but his work ethics is ...., he never put the same effort in the Ducati.

9 John Hopkins Kawasaki 1'33.760 44 / 74
10 Marco Melandri Kawasaki 1'33.782 47 / 75

More or less where I expected to find these riders, of limited talent, but very hard workers (look at the num of laps)
11 Randy de Puniet Honda 1'33.832 39 / 80
12 Nicky Hayden Ducati 1'33.960 74 / 79
13 Toni Elias Honda 1'34.129 78 / 81

AFter 2 years out I don't know if I should consider Sete a newcomer, but for a satellite debut seems pretty decent.
14 Sete Gibernau Ducati 1'34.451 21 / 52

As I expected Kallio was quicker than his teammate Canepa who was the slowest Ducati despite he is probably the guy that more miles has on a GP Ducati (except Casey). I think Canepa will be the new West. But I think all this guys like Canepa, West, Cardoso, Hoffman etc serve a purpose, make all the other big egos happy that they are the last!

15 Mika Kallio Ducati 1'34.793 57 / 60
16 Olivier Jacque Kawasaki 1'34.925 48 / 71
17 Niccolo Canepa Ducati 1'34.995 59 / 62

I'm a bit dissapointed by this I rate Takahashi highly, I think he's got the talent to be in MotoGP and not just because he's the token Japanese.
18 Yuki Takahashi Honda 1'35.203 72 / 73

So all in all very predictable results, Suzuki a better than I expected and Taka a bit worse, the rest just like expected.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Mastodon @ Oct 27 2008, 03:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>haven't heard anything, but i hope not. i'm really getting sick of Red Bull. its all over the place.
You must be sick of those 2 AmericanGP's this year. You must be sick of those racing series that are finding future American and European talent where they otherwise would be stuck racing 600's in a class nobody ever watches. You must be sick of all the sponsorship money they shell out to promote all different types of motorsport.
You should be sick America will not have another rider that can compete for a championship in MotoGP for a long time if the AMA is their only option.
You should be sick of all the companies that pull their sponsor ship year after year when motogp is dying for sponsors.
Lastly you should be sick that Kenny Roberts is no longer in MotoGp because of these sponsorship issues

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pirkkalan GP @ Oct 27 2008, 06:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Kallio certainly seems happy with his first 60 laps on the Ducati GP8.

The comments on his website were roughly as follows:

- started easily getting to know the bike so wasn't using the full power. Later upped the pace and the feeling was absolutely brilliant.

- rideability and turnability was a positive surprise. He had imagined the 800 to be more difficult to ride when it weighs 50kg more than a 250.

- the ducati turns well from side to side, so the twisty sections were great to ride.

- experience was excellent and pleased with the team (or the team was pleased with him - depend on if my understanding of Finnish is right or not). obviously didn't take any risks but was improving the lap times throughout the day. It must have been a surprise to many that Canepa was behind him. Considering he has ridden the Ducati this year more than anybody else as test rider.

Certainly seems a positive start for Kallio - though obviously I am biased
<

Most positive thing to me is his first impression of the Ducati.

I'd love to see Mikka go well - I think he's not only got a lot of talent but he's proved that he's a racer at heart. On Sunday he over rode the KTM trying to catch Simonceli so that the factory could bow out of 250's with a win - he wouldn't settle for second.

Although those KTM's were supposedly stable like the Honda, and cornered sweet, I can't help feeling that in the handling stakes, the Ducati must be a revelation after a parallel twin, which to my mind must have felt awkward at times compared to the Aprilia's and Honda's
