Anyone who watched him come through to motogp surely can't say otherwise

thats for sure, he is not likeable, but he is indeed fast. I found out that Repsol HAS big influence in making decision to Honda, but on top of that, they only need a rider to win, no matter the rider's country is. The brand image is the main priority.

Pedrosa is a great rider and a tough+proud guy, but he's too light for the big bikes, even the 800cc ones. The physical effort these bikes demand is too big for his light frame. If he had stayed in 250 he would have won every year.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (RCV600RR @ Jun 6 2009, 09:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Gotta disagree with you there, mate.

Was he good at Qatar this year? No, because he was injured and couldn't ride the bike like he wanted to. Was he good at Misano this year. No, see above. Same story last season.

I will agree with the fact that when he is on his game he is really good, as I have stated. But I am looking at the complete package. He can't and will never win a championship if he can't stay healthy. If you want to chalk his crashes up to bad luck or whatever that's your thing, but crashing definitely says something about the skill level of the rider, no? Maybe also a little testament to the bike/tires as well.

I guess that we are looking at it completely different.

I would guess that Sack meant Mugello, unless he is in fact imbued with psychic powers. I thought the only self proclaimed clairvoyant around here was Lexicon.

A lot of vaunted champions in 250 have come to the premier class (be it 500, 990 or 800) and have just faded into mid pack obscurity. Maybe not mid pack obscurity but there are a lot of riders who are always the bridesmaid and never the bride though.

Biaggi, Capa, Marco, Dani, Jacque et al. Max got like a heap of 250 titles, but was Doohan, and then Valentinos "runner up" in the 500/990 era - the year he "should" have won (2000), fat Kenny Roberts Jnr ..... slapped him and all he achieved was a lot of gravel time. Sometime you don't make it in the top class. (I still dig Biaggi as a rider)

Dani is still in prestigious company, but after three seasons I think he has been typecast...

I didn't say that he was always going to podium, irrespective of his physical condition. But I did refute the point you made that he was only able to ride fast when completely healthy, citing numerous examples.

Yes, these statements cannot be really denied. Pedrosa needs much more consistency, but I do feel that he has been a bit unlucky; every time he comes off, he seems to injure something quite gravely.

EVERYONE! PLEASE STOP SAYING DANI IS UNLUCKY. HE GETS HURT BECAUSE HE'S FRAGILE AND SMALL. Bradley Smith is bigger than him! I really hope if Honda re-signs him, they require 15 more pounds. It's unfair to the riders, spectators and eventually to the consumers who will get pocket bikes as a result of his irregular development needs.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (clarkjw @ Jun 8 2009, 07:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>EVERYONE! PLEASE STOP SAYING DANI IS UNLUCKY. HE GETS HURT BECAUSE HE'S FRAGILE AND SMALL.

Actually, I think the opposite is true. I think because he is "small" he has been less injured than otherwise would have been the case with a 'larger' rider. I think there is less mass to throw around and this translates into less injury. Imagine flicking an insect off your hand, it would probably land and walk away. Now imagine doing that with a larger animal, it probably would get alittle more hurt.

You may be right Clark, however, I just always thought Dani has sustained less injury than otherwise would have been the case because of his small size. I just think that his crashes were much higher speeds than his counterparts and that is what accounts for the injury, rather than him being fragile. He's usually a few mph faster in the places he's gone down, he carries great corner speed. Just a hair faster and you increase the energy quite a bit. Just a thought.

Perhaps if he were short and stocky, but he has very little muscle padding and thin bones. I think you're quite right that his ejection/crash speed is higher. Low weight and high corner speed may interrelated contributors. Toni Elias is just 1 inch taller and weighs 7kg more.

I think its easier to ride a bull than a 500cc 2 stroke! now imagine the 750 kenny roberts road in flat track. Im just sad i was too young to appreciate this golden era of moto gp at its moment

yup those bike were vicious beasts. Just another off the cuff remark by Tom showing he likes to comment on thing's he knows nothing about. No doubt he will try and talk his way out of it to only dig himself in deeper. Check out toms profile and see how old he was in schwantz's day

As i said "googleman".

Well I'm stunned ...... apparently Dani is in for Catalunya

Puig is not doing a very good job of taking care of his rider
