the doc applies the pressure

The bike really isn't that bad, its well designed lacks some speed but the tyre issue has been the main problem not Yamaha.

Honda have only won 1 race i wonder what they think about that.

Sounds like he's having a bit of a whinge to me. Where will he go in 2009? Honda's out. Ducati is out as well. Doesn't leave too much. Still, if he went to kawasaki or suzuki and won a title then his status would really be in the stratosphere.

Why is Ducati out? They have been wanting him on thier bike for years. Although now maybe they just want Casey instead.

I think he could have won races on a Honda, Suzuki or a Kawasaki this year... but not a KR

at the beginning of the year he said his bike was fantastic, it could out corner and out brake the ducati and just wait till they got onto the smaller tracks like donnington.

Rossi has a doctorate and PhD in Whinging

Why is Ducati out?

Because Casey and Marco are signed thru 2009.

I think his best bet is Kwak. Same general bike layout, but with a much better engine. I think the reason Kwak only gave Hopper 1 year is so they could take a whack at Rossi if John doesn't produce.

People have won 5 championships in a row before. People have won for two different manufacturers before. I think it is safe to say, if he changes teams and wins, the accomplishment of winning for three different manufacturers, on three different types of machines, will never be equaled.

I hope he does change teams. Yamaha is behind the 8-ball and they act like they can't commit to a new design direction.

no ducati is out because a few years ago when he was dominating, he got on his high horse and said he wouldnt ride for any team that had cigarette sponsorship. i bet he regrets making that statement now and prob would go back on that if not for the fact it would make him look like a hypocrite.

I suppose Galouises (with which he won his two Yamaha championships) and Camel make baby food then?

I genuinely am not sure how to take the 'supposed' comments.

It comes across as whinging but I feel is likely very justified although it does open up the comment of where that leaves Michelin?

Rossi (amongst others) has this far been very vocal in blaming or commenting on the tyres, but here he is saying that Yamaha have let the side down very badly, so what gives? What is correct?

But, in the wash up I reckon he has every right to say 'give me more' in terms of the bike as he is there to ride it and obviously in his mind the bike is lacking in some areas.

He is paid to win races and represent Yamaha and knows that without results his drawing power in terms of sponsors and ultimately dollars falls, as such he demands the utmost of the factory. What rider wouldn't.

I wonder whether the salary they pay rossi, which his results have justified, is becoming a factor. If stoner and others are even vaguely close to being as good as him, having an extra 16 million or so to spend on the bike must be a help.

So what if it's Fiat? You said his "dominant" years and two of those years fell under tobacco sponsorship. Your original post was off the mark and I just pointed it out to you.

Actually Honda might not be out at all. The Italians are talking about it as a real possibility. His dad said the people he clashed with there are now gone. I think if Yam don't deliver what he's after he might jolly well consider it.

Actually Rossi never said he wouldn't race a tobacco sponsored bike. He did for several seasons. BUT he was very vocal in opposing tobacco sponsorships and made (or claimed to) a donation to a charitable institution every time he raced with the name of the tobacco sponsor on the bike. At some tracks I believe they're only allowed to use a logo and sponsor colours whereas at some tracks it is legal for the full name of the tobacco sponsor to be on the bike.

I agree, Rossi needs to take responsibility for the development of the bike in the 2006/07 off season. The "big disadvantage at the beginning of the season" is partly because that was the bike Rossi asked for, he got it and certainly wasn't complaining after winning the pre season test at Jerez. Iit wasn't until he actually has to race Stoner that he realised maybe 15kph was a little too much to give away. Then we get "wait till we hit Europe", Stoner's pace put a lot of pressure on all the manufacturers to increase the performance of their machines. I think Rossi felt like the Jerez race would be an accurate prediction of how all the smaller tighter tracks would go, Stoner would be inconsistent and Rossi would be able to win the majority of races and consistently place on the podium.

"We need to be more aggressive and more courageous in the decisions and the development of the bike." Ok so we'll try a new engine, now we've never raced it before, so it may not be reliable. "Ok, I try"

Then

"Besides, every time we do something new it breaks down." WTF?

google "rossi cigarette sponsor" and educate yourself before you try to educate others

I rest my case Pinky. I wasn't trying to educate anyone. Just pointing out that the past three years Rossi has been sponsored by tobacco, therefore making your comment irrelevant.

Rossi seems to really contradict himself

ok reason why rossi wont get a ride at ducati is because Marlboro is their major sponsors. Marlboro wont want rossi given rossi past comments regarding tobacco sponsorship

despite he having ridden on a tobacco sponsored bike before which was ended with yamaha due to his anti tobacco stance.
