Stress in MotoGP

I actually get it when not influenced by insomnia and red wine, he is an unusual and prickly personality, not very likeable in his public persona anyway, and your friend is not a bopper and has good takes on bike racing in general and I am sure knows more about bikes than I do.

I just occasionally get inappropriately angry about being derided for being an obsessed fan of Stoner's by someone who seems to dislike him fairly obsessively, which has prompted me a couple of times to mount attacks on his posts other than those related strictly to current GP matters as he does most posts and posters which/who make even the most tenuous reference to Stoner.
I hear you, I've said my fair share of .... talking when drinking the beverage of kings.

It's not just Mdub or JK, I have buddies I regularly hang out with, one was a short time members here too named Cali kid, but it's not just these three. I have about 5 friends who agree with me on 9 out of 10 talking points about GP that don't like CS. Another guy that just came to mind is Clarky, you remember him right. That guy is salt of earth, like most of my genuine friends actually, and he dislikes CS too. I'm as a staunch CS fan as they get, and far more opinionated and annoying than you Mike, i get into debated in private occasions when I'm hanging out with the boys, my best buddies, yet for the life of me I haven’t convinced one to see that CS is a good misunderstood admirable guy. Other than this topic though I'd take a bullet for most of them ( albeit a nerf gun bullet, but still.)

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.

This forum is hilarious. I will enjoy making some of you squirm.
Yeah, everyone should be a moody introvert like bucktooth. Shame on them for actually having some fun in their younger days!
It must eat you up that Bucktooth can’t ride anymore without adult diapers because everyone is mean to him and that makes him poop himself.
According to Rossi's bio, Walter is a little ......
Must be true because it's in a bio.
Do people read things on forums and facebook and such before they post nasty pictures of themselves or their dogs eating their neighbor's poo?
LOL
Mr. synn, this is not really the right place to attack the posters with weak Whorstershaire sauce on milk toast. Most of the regulars here are pretty lucid and knowledgable, and smart enough to know that this is the internet, and they can't really be intimidated by your empty threats.

Despite what you want to believe, because it is easy for you, this is not a Stoner fan site. It just has a lot of people who have followed racing for a long time, and many appreciate Stoner. I am a Stoner fan. He did things that reminded me of Kenny Roberts, Sr. and other guys, but with his own uniqueness. But, I have argued with others on this site about Stoner and other riders. It is not a fan club here, for anyone. (Thank goodness). Dovi came close this year to fan club status, but I understand the sentiment.

On topic:
All the champions have shown moments of stress, including Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo, and Marquez. Rossi has had several really obvious moments. And Stoner had a couple that really stood out for me. It happens to even the best, obviously. Imagine the stress of trying to keep a rider job, while riding for a Aprilia satellite team or equivilant. That could wear on ya', even if you are young and stupid.

I disagree, it's just not a "bopper" thing. Certainly the majority of CS detractors are of the bopper variety, who are overwhelming the largest number of fans in GP, they hated him because he beat Rossi, which made him one of the worst persons on earth. But CS is a special case because I know many solid racing fans whom are staunch non-rossi fans, that dislike CS. Several of my personal friends dislike CS, and we've argued far more vehemently and substantively than most of the debates I read here, which eventually digress into insults and worse, splintered friendliness (I raise my hand too.) But I've come to learn that people can dislike riders and still be knowledgeable reasonable race fans, not always but it happens.

You and I have disagreement about Lorenzo's behavior and intentions the last couple of races, we presented our reasons, I think you're wrong, mistaken at best, but I don’t think you're a horrible person. Just like I don't think J4 is a horrible person either, but I'll call him stupid he'll call me drunk, etc. Once it gets personal because of Interneting, then the debate is lost.

I'm serious about arguing with friends about Stoner, people who agree with me on 99% of everything else. Something about Stoner is special, and that quality has rubbed some the wrong way. I don’t get it, and I've argued far more with them one-on-one than anything ive written debated here, I've concluded, despite my best efforts to argue my position, that something else is going on other than the debate had.

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.
Stoner has something that I don't think I've seen in any other rider. I can't put my finger on what that is, but I just recognise it when I see it.

His saltiness outweighed his talent.

Listen folks, I hate to break it to you. It's almost 2018. Stoner has been gone for more than half a decade. Maybe it's time to stop talking about him and SNS and the moon landing in every single thread...

But Stoner is the greatest rider the world has ever seen. Until he ìs surpassed .... he shall be talked about.

Start some threads yourself concerning something or someone else then.

I hate to break it to you, but you have had almost nothing substantive to say about anything thus far yourself. I don't mind people having a little fun, snipe away all you like, but I hardly think you are arguing from a position of strength as far as the depths of GP bike racing insight displayed in most of your own previous posts on here; some discussion of prospects next year in the Valencia test thread did show some actual interest and capacity for analysis admittedly.

At heart, Stoner is a country Aussie - just like Doohan. In addition, his years of struggle (living in Puig's backyard, riding knowing his parents had sold everything to throw at his racing career, his championship being initially attributed to a rocket Ducati, and the fans' hate at beating Rossi etc.) have added a certain element of a siege mentality.

That means he's extraordinarily blunt. If something comes to his mind, he'll say it without any attempt at making it digestible or polite. Sometimes, he'll go too far.

For many people, that is off-putting. I can understand that.

I, personally, find that raw honesty appealing. You know who you're dealing with: a genuine bloke.

He's not the charming showman/joker that Rossi is, but I find them both equally captivating, despite their different approaches.

Prediction for 2018 based on Valencia tests:

Winner: Not stoner
Runners up:Not Stoner
Second runners up: Not Stoner

Perhaps that is why he wasn’t discussed in the Valencia test thread but rather in this thread concerning a more generalised topic to which he is possibly relevant, and in another concerning remarks he made in a recent/current interview.

On the off chance you actually aren’t my old pal JK, plaudits for beginning to catch on though. My own prediction based on the Valencia test would be:
Winner: Not Rossi
Runner up: Not Rossi
Third: Unlikely to be Rossi

I think people sometimes forget these riders are human beings.

I hate to break it to you. This forum is dominated by people who couldn't give a .... about your opinion. You're pissing in the wind. Try selling this .... over on Crash. In fact they'd eat it up. Since you claim you know of no other racing forum, I'll even give you the link. Believe me, you'll feel right at home. Crash.Net | F1 & MotoGP | Motorsport News

Yeah but then I won’t be able to see your salty tears, Walt!

Yea synn, how dare you share your motogp opinion on a motogp forum where everyone doesn't share your point of view. Shame on you. I'm offended.

Walt and Stoner both don't like people disagreeing with them.
That's why Walt tries to run off the disagreeing parties and Stoner stays at home (Where he is the undisputed GOAT).

Racing is ....... stressful. I don't care if you are the father and it is your kid racing mx for fun. It's extremely stressful. I find a big reason why people who race for fun do it is because of the high stress. It makes mondays stress a lot easier to handle. But when you are racing for a living the stress is astronomical and can have so very strange effects on the human mind and body. I've seen people cope with these stresses in many ways. Some by being clowns, some by smiling and pretending it isn't there, some jut shut down, and others just can't cope. There is never a point when a person is satisfied monetarily that makes them content. Racers race and are ....... stressed out of their minds trying to maintain an edge over everyone else. The only thing we see is how they handle it.
