Stoner says Danni can't beat him on same tires.

As sad as it is to see the end of the tire war, I really hope it is a spec tire. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see the kids who have always gotten the tires developed around them scratching their heads.

Pedrosa waiting for his special reserves to arrive and Rossi wondering why there aren't 40 Bridgestone techs writing frantically to begin construction on the ideal rubber for Valentino. Pure gold. The good news, Rossi fans, is this will only be a momentary setback.

Whilst not necessarily a strong candidate to take up an alternative career as a rocket scientist if his putative scaphoid injury does prove career ending, casey is not stupid , and I doubt he has forgotten dani beating him on the same tyres in the 250s (or on a 900 for that matter) or indeed on what are now generally accepted as inferior tyres on quite a few occasions in the 800 class. Hence it would seem strange for him to say this particularly given that he is more friendly with pedrosa than most if not all on the grid and has seemed to respect him in the past.

I allready put up the link, read my post. Im not putting down Stoner for not being able to fight cause of his injury. I just thought that he should have more sence than to say things like that. it happen when he fell in Misano while Vale was chasing him down. So he could have been angry about that. Its a video so there are no mis quotes. Just to say that he is the fastest racer in motogp is cocky as hell.. Rossi's won so many championships and has never said some .... like that. Hes excellent but i still think Danni is just a bit better.

I think this race had more to do with setup than the injury. first day in practice he said they had no grip on the rear tire.

I was more worried that it all could even get worse now their is only one supplier ....... What if the Lexpiracy has even an ounce of validity!?

What do you mean 'what if'? We just have to hope that now that Bridgestone don't need to worry about Michelin, they can work equally with all teams and riders.

med front for stoner, no feel with a hard front. rossi's been racing both hard for a while now. good strategy for next year.

all riders will get the same. choice will be hard, extra hard or super extra hard, the question will be what riders will be able to perform on whats available and who will whine they dont work for there bike. Theres no way stones will have soft tyres next year, just incase they dont last the distance, that cant happen with a one make series.

i think it will be rossi and dovi fighting next year. just my thoughts.

Well Esco thanks for the link. I did see that video before but I missed it when you linked it earlier.

There is a massive misquote and a massive misrepresentation in what was said, and how it was said!!

And all that has been made by you. With all respect I'm not sure if english is your first language, but you got this so wrong

Here's the comments for those that can't see the video. I've quoted this word for word best I could.

Make your own minds up.

Interviewer : Asked Casey about Dani's move to Bridgestone
Casey : Am, last year I did'nt have nearly the same advantage as I did this year, and now were going on the same tyre. Thats as much as that
Interviewer : Pushed Casey on Dani's decision
Casey : People always want what they can't have, and ah, you know, I've been very lucky and fortunate to go with Bridgestone, you know, the time that I've had they've been brilliant to work with. I've had a lot of bad luck in my career and when things go right I get, you know, I get alot of excuses made of why I'm doing so well and why things are happening for me, you know, people always making excuses of why were winning and why were so fast, so its kind of frustrating, even now were on the same tyres and I'm still just as fast if not faster and, ah, people are still trying to make those excuses.
<u>Here it is folks</u>
Interviewer : So you would be confident that you would be able to beat Dani if he had the same tyres as you
Stoner : Yea

Now Esco look at your heading and at what I have just typed. They both paint a very different picture

Its not like Casey came out and said Dani will never beat me on Stones. Casey was asked is he confident that he can beat Dani and of course he replied Yea, like what else would anyother race have said. I feel that you got annoyed when Casey talked about how frustrating hes finding it when people are always looking to excuses when he dose well and yea he was a little touche about it who would'nt!!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that interview and that this thread had been 100% misleading and a total waste of time

It is pretty easy to see that he is just a confident rider and stating his position instead of being a cocky guy. His response is nothing less than I would expect from a champ.

nicely done R1 SF..

so, Esco, anything to add?

that sounds like the interviewer had to push casey quite far to get something that he could twist to get a story from. nothing of interest here, move along now..

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Mick D @ Oct 20 2008, 09:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>As of now (negotiations continue) it is one supplier NOT control tyre. Still not a good situation.
I'd disagree. Having the mooted two tyre constructions and two compounds per weekend is a control tyre, not just one supplier.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Haga @ Oct 20 2008, 09:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>No one at all can judge how well Dani will go on Stones next season because at the moment he hasn't had the sufficiant testing time on the tyres. You have to remember that Rossi had the whole of pre-season to get completely used to the tyres while Dani had one test at Misano before he started racing on them.

I suppose we'll see how well he, and everyone else goes next season on the tyres.
No one can judge how any of the riders will go next year on the 2009 Bridgestones as the tyres do not currently exist. Nor will they until the exact rules are clarified.

The issue regarding Pedrosa possibly being disadvantaged with the new tyres is the fact that his lack of weight may well mean that having only two possible constructions (as currently mooted) both will be too hard for him in order to provide two possible tyres that could suit most other riders.

As there are more riders in the heavier end I'd reckon that Pedrosa will lose out.

To the nearest 5kg :
Rossi ~70kg
Hayden ~70kg
Edwards ~70kg
Vermulen ~70kg
Hopkins ~70kg
Toseland ~70kg
De Puniet ~65kg
Lorenzo ~60kg
Capirossi ~60kg
Melandri ~60kg
Stoner ~60kg
Elias ~60kg
De Angelis ~60kg
Dovisioso ~55kg
Pedrosa ~50kg

In this case I presume Pedrosa (and possibly Dovi) would have to add weight to the bike in order to be able to use the stiffer constructions. This would at least stop the complaints about riders becoming jockeys

Absolutely. It would be a good thing for the racing! Also, racing would become a better development laboratory for stock tyre production, conditions would become more similar

You got it all wrong. Rossi has been racing on Stoners tires this year and those took him to nine wins, the championship and probably a new points record.
Equal tires is nothing but an advantage for Rossi so I don't see the setback there not even a momentary one. Hell, if this is all new tires he and JB and their craft could easily make it an even larger advantage for the first few rounds.

I'm not saying that Rossi and JB won't be able to sort out equal tires, I'm not even saying that they'll struggle. But what I am saying is if you look at what's happened at Michelin in the latest few rounds and you don't think Rossi was catered to during his time there then you are delusional. And the fact that he received the 2007 Bridgestones that Stoner was denied for portions of the early goings. Rossi has always received special treatment in the tire department.

Judging by how fast Stoner is when he uses the '07 Bridgestones in relation to Rossi, I'm quite interested to see how everyone else can stack up when on equal tires. I like Valentino, I really do, but he isn't as 'miles ahead' as some seem to think.
