I note that Stoner was sitting in the winning garage (Whincup and Dumbrell) for the Bathurst 1000.

His next ride is a Holden C'Dore (Vauxhall VXR or Monaro to the Brits).

To be honest he looks happier surrounded by rum swilling Bogans.

Ash and I watched the race, I love a V8, about as sophisticated as a land rights march, but after 161 laps of Bathurst (1000kms) the first two cars finished within 1/10th of a second.

Betcha he sets lap records there too, bro.

Btw, don't hate on the pushrod.

The boppers will have to follow V8 supercar racing or find someone else to hate on.

I'm in a pushrod now.......... Volvo.

Never know mate, might be a Nissan or Mercedes!

Ash posted elsewhere : nek year Datsun 1 merc 2 3 makes no difference.

You guys are just pissed off cos Hyundai won the first Bathurst!

Gotta admit all this Nissan and Merc Talk is reminiscent of the 70's or was it 80's? Talking of Vulva.....o's didn't they put in a show at Bathurst back then?

Hell I remember when the likes of Mini's and Galaxies lined up beside each other.

Oh Nek year?

Barry has to tell us how did Hyundai win the first one. That's a big claim, and no doubt a hell of a story.

They made the washing machines in the local laundromat? Cleaned up big time?

Bad joke (short notice and too much oxy-....-in)

Already out there, next year is a race for third after the two Merc's

But they won't really be Nissans/Datsuns or Mercs, as they are not really Holdens or Fords, which is my problem because I remember when they were, as I also remember when the main overtaking move (in general currently, perhaps not so much at Bathurst) was not the punt off the track mid corner.

You have my entire sympathy if you still need oxycontin at this remove in time from your accident.

Yeah, what marque currently represents anything you can legally drive/ride?

Andy?

I want that one. Thumper. Helsinki.

Yeah! I know.

Ok ...... its a pretty tenuous link ...... but here goes.

The Cortina GT won the first Bathurst. ( My first ever racing memory was seeing the race, then the cars were paraded around shopping centres ...... I saw them at David Jones in Parramatta and just remember thinking how amazing they looked ....... as much as common road cars as they looked ..... they had numbers on the side!!

)

Now the Hyundai ......... did you know that they made Cortinas ..... ok probably not back as far as 63 but they did make Cortinas!!

I'm looking for the little smiley, where the guy stretches the bow as far as it will go and then it snaps.

Its a circular argument (case whatever) and I'm a fan. I'm just never going to repeat it

Jesus I had one of those i30's as an hire car over christmas last year.

The fcuking thing told you when to change gear!? and if you didn't and revved past its recommended gear change there was at least a second if not two after you changed gear with fcuk all power! WTF! Didn't suit my style of driving at all. Piece of .... IMO.

Poor bossman!

I'm in for world domination....... if it involves beer and strippers !!

Bring on the Aussie sub chapter. I'm on the Gold Coast if anyone is looking for me.

So who've we got.......

Andy Roo

Digger

Yamaka (when he's in town)

Bunyip

Bird.... where are you Bird ??

Krusty is in Canungra (where are you Krusty.... anyone heard from him. MIA)

Anyone else ??

I'm a Sandgroper, but spend more time out than in. Haven't been to the Eastern States in about 20 years, IIRC

Folks used to live just outside Cairns after the old bloke retired from the Army but moved on 20-odd years ago.

Live in the UK, spend a LOT of time in Asia, occasionally in WA and rarely in NZ. Got a daughter and granddaughter and parents in NZ, but the flight from UK is a killer so they are lucky to see me more than once or twice a decade. The missus goes back all the time.

I remember the carnage of Cologne Capris and Toranas lining the walls of the mountain...
