Stoner frustrated

Im glad stoner is riding so well. He's a winging prick sometimes but you cant deny he can ride the arse off that bike, and Im saying that as a long-time die hard Rossi fan. Im glad his riding well because at the end of the day, we all want exciting close races. Not someone dissapearing off into the distance, regardless if thats Rossi, Stoner or Pedrobot. i totally agree, stoner is a good rider and he will improve as this and last year weren’t the only years where stoner had some competition not only from his opposition but mainly his equipment. If you look at stone’s history he always had a battle on his hand with equipment and now that he got the best well he’s proven what he can do. stoner will only get better as he’s got the aussie mongrel in him the more competition the better you will find he gets! I just hope pedrobot improves as much as stoner did in 2007!

I'm sure that you believe that just as much as you think that everyone must automatically love Rossi...

What a pity that a person of such eloquence is incapable of accepting the fact that someone else's viewpoint might just be as valid as their own!

Here's an idea... how about we wait & see how next year goes? I guess in your mind that anything other than Casey repeating this year's amazing performance will "prove" your point that he's no good??

And on another point, I absolutely love how up until this year both the Ducati motorcycle & Bridgestone tyres were considered second rate.

But the moment the "the king" starts getting beaten regularly by said combination, suddenly they are the duck's guts & the only reason that someone as useless as Stoner can possibly beat Vale?

On winning with other makes of machine, news flash people... it was done before Rossi & it'll be done after. Some of the "legends" though were always on the same machine... think Roberts Snr, Wayne Rainey & Mick Doohan. Are they lesser men for it?

Maybe it would've proved something had they changed bikes but history will always show them as winners anyway!

And to finish off, some here have challeged Casey to win on either a Kwacka or a Zook to prove himself... I wonder if at this point even Rossi would be willing to take that particular challenge on in 2008 & still expect to regularly win?

muzzy totally agree with your comments!!!!...good post!!!...and im sure that rossi would love to get the f__k out of the yamaha camp!!! And join whoever!! But especially ducati!!! Yamaha are very well known for their lack of following through on a championship winning formula!!! Its happened in the past and its happening now!!!

The weight issue is something of an old chestnut but hard to dismiss as irrelevant. I think it probably makes some difference with rossi and stoner too. I understand stoner to weigh at least 10 kg less than rossi, which is of the order of the weight penalties for superior engine configurations under the old rules.

Of course casey can no more be blamed for being younger than rossi and having better judgement in his choice of grandparents, and hence being lighter, than he can for being on ducati/ bridgestones rather than yamaha/michelins.

It is probably just as unreasonable to generalise about aussies and stoner fans as it is to generalise about rossi fans, or would be to generalise about italians.

I just saw one of my old bikie mates who actually went to the PI round this year, and he said there was still much more yellow apparel evident amongst supporters than any other colour. Rossi has always been a god over here.

I think it is always unwise in life to assume you deal in unvarnished truth whilst everyone else is biased ; I freely admit my bias.

I think this forum started in a rossi championship year and hence the initial participants were likely to have been enthusiastic about rossi. In a hayden or stoner championship year it is perhaps not surprising that supporters of these riders are enthusiastic.

However, I do agree with you to some extent. As I have said before I don't understand why some stoner fans seem to feel that celebrating casey requires denigrating valentino; apart from being stupid it is illogical.

I personally agree that when Stoner (and Hayden last year) beat Rossi, people looked for the excuse as to why Rossi did not win and were not prepared to concede that he may have been beaten by a better rider/bike/package. Stoner is like all other top flight athletes in that he has an ego that needs massaging and a highly strung personality and it would undoubtedly frustrate him that people would not give what he feels is just credit.

But, whilst he has the right to say what he chooses (as does every other rider) we are still in a Rossi worship era and as such whatever he says will either be twisted or construed as an attack on Rossi whether intended or not.

For mine, Stoner has not received as much credit this year as is perhaps his due as people are still trying to find that excuse as to why Rossi did not win. But if Stoner is to let this become a prime focus (and I believe that there has been a lot of journalistic licence here) then it goes against the grain of the supreme concentration he has shown this year.

For me, I tend to think he means what he says but it is perhaps intended for a specific audience.

Personally I to get sick of the ridiculous blind worship of many people in this (and other) forums whom find it difficult to recognise that people are allowed to have opinions that diifer from their blindly worshipped ones.

I can understand why he would be frustrated by the people who refuse to give him his credit, but i think it makes his title greater. To have beaten someone who is so good that people cannot believe hge is beaten is pretty good, and in time his win will stand strong as an impressive one. However i think comments like this make him more like Rossi and less like Doohan (who he is so often compared to). He knows what he has done and he knows how good he is, there is no point in getting hung up on what people think of you.

No, all the facts wer have is that Stoner has way more points than Rossi. It is peoples speculation that puts that down to anything other than Casey. I still believe that the riders are making the difference, and Stoner himself is by far the biggest performance advantage anyone has this season. "The bike makes all the differnce" argument is a valid one, but not coming from the same people who said the rider was the deciding factor when it suited them.
