So did MM protect Lorenzo ?

Elias had and still has a unique style that he has not really adjusted throughout the years which has led to his lean times where others have learnt and changed styles throughout the evolution of these bikes.

The issue with Elias has been more Elias who, whilst talented has greatly lacked any real level of consistency and whilst true he beat VR, he also had access to VR's tyres for that one event as he could not adjust or get the

non sns' to work for him.

One rider I did also forget is Melandri who also beat VR in his good years and personally, a rider I rate (pre Ducati) as far better than Elias, but the career killer killed his career as it has done near all.

You are right, we wont agree as to undersell what Pedrosa has achieved is a mockery as you do not win three world championships, multiple races and numerous podiums and not know how and when to fight.

Melandri was riding the career killer same time as Stoner right? Had a much bigger contract too as I recall. But he never really took off in the premier class, even before he got on the Ducati. I think he had a big crash on his first outing and broke a leg during practice? Never really did much after that.

Edit: there you go, I just checked his record and it's much better than I remember. I better re-watch some of those.

Elias beat Rossi once ..........

BTW, Gibernau, Biaggi, KRJr, Stoner, Lorenzo, Pedrosa amongst others (not many, but others) all beat Rossi in his 'good years' , not just Elias

Nobby ....... Ueda.

Yep, that is the guy and if you get the chance, watch his victory at Phillip Island - love the entry onto the straight

Ducati made Melandri a head case and whilst he has had success in WSBK, he was never the same rider (it has to be remembered that Ducati are said to have sent him to a psychologist to help)

I can't believe that all you guys have missed the inscrutable Puppet Master in all this:

He ripped points off Rossi in Aragon.
He suddenly decided that winning a race would be a good idea.
He prevented Marc from doing a 3-laps-from-the-end attack on Jorge allowing JL to escape.

I only watched the race yesterday evening, so haven't kept up with all the crazy postings yet. But I actually thought that someone must've taken the next step in their conspiracy thinking and put Dani as the main protagonist, just as you suggest. Here's my take on the Valencia race:

Dani carefully watched MM from behind, trying to figure out his race tactics. And after realising MM would go for a last lap attack on JL, DP backed off a bit to spare his tyres. Towards the end of the race he picked up his pace so he could be close to MM when the inevitable attack was initiated. And sure enough, when DP saw the fist signs of MM building up his attack, he interrupted MMs attempt and made sure JL got the title.

It's so easy to make up funny theories. :drinks:
