Bit of an anti climax. At least the front row is interesting. Hope the rain stays away for tomorrow.

Ducati must be glad they have these new safer tyres.

How do you guys actually survive the english weather btw, isn't it supposed to be summer?

Yup it's summer. All this bad weather is the low pressure fronts blowing in off the Atlantic. Looks like where stuck with it for a couple more weeks.

Thats a little different line up than we are used to. Spies seems to have figured out the bike. This is 2 in a row where he has been fast and at the front. Now, put the weekend together Ben. Rossi seems to have given up even trying till the new engine arrives, or he has cut a deal with another team already.

Tires not getting up to temperature on a cold track can't be much of a confidence booster on an already lame-duc bike.

Nicky looked to be going for it. But they both went off in the same corner.

Yeah because they're crashing so much more this year than in previous years, give me a break, the bike is a pos and they have admitted that they can't get heat into the front tire.

I thought that was stoner's fault, as was the previous tyre. Scrap the control tyre rule, and let the factories co-develop tyres which suit their bikes. What the .... would dorna and/or loris capirossi know about tyres which suit modern bikes?

What a ....... mess the Silverstone .... weather track is!!! They need to construct a dome around this ....... place.

.... QUAL!

Edit: Has ZERO to do with the tires. Its .... weather, dicey conditions, cold track, patching rain, gusts of wind. What ....... tires are made for this?!? The starting grid was a lotto of luck timing. People say Indy is ...., well guess what, this track is claiming more riders with the vast run off areas. Twice the hometown hero has been a victim of .... weather. It might as well be ice racing on slicks. ....!

Perhaps true of last year's tyres then as well.

It would still seem to me that in attempting to make tyres "equal" they have come up with tyres that don't suit 2 manufacturers, perhaps not the best outcome given there are only 3.

Good luck to jorge, he may be the best of them anyway.

What the hell was that?

Oh.. I thought you lived in England, Michael. Apparently not.

Anyway... speaking of tires and Ducati, someone who knows a lot sent me a head up. There could actually be a very simple reason why all Ducatis work well in the wet.

I think that when Rossi repeats that he does not have an idea why, and that nobody has an idea why, he's speaking tongue in cheek. Like, let's see who is the first journo who gets it and asks me the correct question.

Because of course he must know that, when it is wet, his mechanics mount different Bridgestones on his bikes, not the current slicks... !!!

And he must know that the Bridgestone wet tires are completely different from whatever they have been dishing out since 2009 or 2010.

The Bridgestone wet tires have a very traditional body structure (someone could call them 'old'), same as what they were using also for slicks a few years back. So... it is these old tires that would actually be safer, and faster, for the Ducatis.
