Sachsenring predictions, practice, quali

If he did quit, after you finished creaming yourself you'd probably spend the whole season talking about him anyway

Ramon Forcada credits Stoner with being better than Lorenzo at this aspect of racing and he has worked with both riders....and Lorenzo was often far ahead of Rossi in this aspect when they were in the same team....JB quite often found Rossi the extra tenths he needed in warmup to be competitive.

So who in your opinion is the best rider at setting up a bike currently?

I wouldn't be sad for him. He has reaped what he now sows. He burnt the Honda bridge and then he burnt the Yamaha bridge. He thought he was bigger than the sport. We now see he is not as the sport is still going. The competition is intense and exciting at the front and is no worse for not having Rossi in it. I've said it before, MotoGP has moved on and Rossi is becoming less relevant.

MotoGP has moved on? Funny how Rossi still generates the most press, still most desired by sponsors. You think the sport will grow if he leaves now?

Let's be honest, you want him to quit.

haydens move was definitly on purpose.... barbera followed hayden to get a decent lap time, and prob would of beaten haydens best had hayden not stand up the bike.... a bit dangerous but fair game me thinks

Now they've got someone like Rossi who can report back what it feels like, as opposed to a Stoner who can just thrash it, but not really understand it and tell people what it's doing, they can start developing it to try and make it work like the Japanese bikes do.'

Neil Spalding, 20 March 2010

Hows that sig working out for you Nino?

Fans like you are the reason why people got turned off Rossi in droves...the reason Rossi is receiving so much press is because of his poor performances on the Duc so far....even a dunce like you can understand that surely.

Right so you went off a rider because of his fans?
<
You went for the more exclusive fanclub of Stoner.

You've gone from a fanboy of one rider, to a fanboy of another you hypocrite.

I am a fan of motorcycle racing - not single riders....and as usual you avoided the simple question I posed earlier....so I will ask you again.....

So who in your opinion is the best rider at setting up a bike currently?

I bet you are so ....... dumb you cant even answer that one easy question

Looking at analysis, we could be in for a 4 way battle at the front. Numerous riders with mid 122's pace. There is a chance of showers, but it looks like they are later in the evening.Lets hope. Kudos to Stoner, Pedro, and Simo. They fell off and kept pushing through the weekend to ultimately start at or near the front. It appears Rossi has quit. Im almost feeling sorry for him, but a dose of humble pie is good for the soul every once in awhile. Ducati has not fixed ...., they keep saying they have fixed the rear end pump, yea, by going a second and a half slower. Most of these bikes dont show their warts till you get them to the edge and when Rossi gets even near the edge he goes down. If my count is correct, he has been on the ground 7-8 times this season already. It would not surprise me one bit if retirement rumors start finding their way into the media during summer break. He does not need this ...., he is wealthy and healthy, why risk it any longer on a turd that has proven to be unriideable except for the anomaly known as Casey Stoner.

I agree with most of this, except the point about him being less relevent. Rossi is creating more press & debate now than he has any time in his whole career. He still dominates the headlines, but probably not for the reasons he would like to.

I was thinking this wasn't the case any more just lately. There seems a distinct lack of Press about Rossi, even on GPone. Matter of fact it began a while ago when they started laying up Simo. I even get the feeling Ducati have gone hush about the whole thing and are trying to keep the crap under check in the press.

Maybe it depends on what country you are in but here Rossi has faded into the past.

Rossi ahead of where Stoner was at this point in 2010
<

how many races has rossi led so far?do you think, even with all the effort of ducati ,he will be a front runner at least some time during this year?

if he does not win and the gp12 is expected to perform as bad as its 800cc version does now rossi will surely quit at the end of the season

interesting , i did't know forcada worked with stoner.

i wonder where this myth that stoner can just "trash the bike" came from?

Yes he's broken, maybe he should take four races out to 'recover'.

Sore butt anyone? ouchie on the poopies!!!???
<

I'm too naive, all the Stoner detractors talk really get's to me, so much i start believing them.

Thanks god Stoner allways pulls a nice one out of his set-up-sleeve, as nice as beating most of the soft tire laps(from other riders) with his race tire. The few 10'ths he scraped with the soft was just stunning.

.... i can't help it. Rossi.....pfft
<
<
Eat up that PIG.11.1 and ask Stoner for some driving lessosns on it, you need them.

Anyhone ever heard of the expression (i think i know Barry has) What happens if you don't like Duck (Duc)? well....if you don't like Duc, you're rather Stuc

(See Fawlty Towers, Gourmey night Episode)

Why? hector was on his fastest lap of the session and hayden backed off before the line slowing hector.

Where's talpa?. Both obviously should be suspended for 2 races, barbera for the rude gesture, hayden for lack of grace in refusing him the tow
<
.

If you're watching the moto 2 qualy even Moody commented that the Yamaha was a difficult bike to ride and that only Rossi could ride the 990, it only got more refined in the later 800cc years.

?????

Colin Edwars as Rossi's team mate did some Awesome races on that bike, mostly as Rossi personal helper but he did ride the thing pretty well/easy.

I think Talpa got suspended from posting for two rounds.

Dangerously stupid posts I think it was

There is nothing you like better than a big ........, because barry your a ..... How many times do we have to tell you.

Yes , stoner was assessed as being broken in 2009 when he was right on the pace in practice and early on in races then faded to finish usually no lower than 4th, followed by vomiting in his helmet immediately after the race. What a ....., and how terrible that his lack of mental strength dropped him that far back.

That said , there should be no joy for anyone in seeing rossi sixteenth on the grid, and I for one would like to see him back on the podium, if no higher than 2nd. JB's wife's illness has probably come at a bad time although racing is obviously very secondary in the circumstance; if presiozi thinks there is no problem with the design of the bike, he needs JB there to drive development of the new bike.

im cool with rossi being nearly last, hopefully it fuels motivation...

when will ducati realise the gp11.46.v2 is ready for the skip
<
i say scrap that idea and go back to the drawing board

the engine is superb but the handling..... the bike is capable of going quicker but me thinks rossi doesnt wanna bin it which he probably know will happen.

I have a feeling that today is the day that Ducati start getting it in the neck from the yellow hordes.

The best at setting up a bike is clearly Bautista.

Stoner on the Ducati was able to heat the tires up in just one lap -- this is unparalleled. Rossi can't do the same because he doesn't feel the bike right so he doesn't push -- but this Ducati never feels right on cold tires, so it is a catch-22. The changes they are making to the Ducati are not aimed at correcting a "flawed" bike (Preziosi is not convinced at all that the basic design is flawed) but at allowing Vale to feel confident enough to push -- Preziosi believes that if and when enough heat builds into the tires, the Ducati "magically" transforms into a competitive and good-handling bike.

There's the rub. He may even be right, but only if they still had the radical 2007 bridgestone asymmetric tyres, around which to be fair the bike was designed.

Otherwise they either need to go to at least a narrower angle V4 and probably a conventional chassis, if rossi has or is prepared to put in the time to develop it, or go back to the screamer engine, back to the 2009 front:rear bias, and scour the world for someone who can ride it like stoner, since the way he rode it seems to be the only way to go fast with anything resembling the current design. I am not among those claiming this makes him better than rossi overall, just (apparently) better at riding 800 motogp ducatis.
