Forcada had some interesting things to say about stoner, which I guess were negative and positive, in Australian Motor Cycle News a few issues ago; I had forgotten or didn't know he was with casey at LCR. He actually said stoner didn't work hard enough including training etc, and that if he worked as hard as jorge no-one would get near him.
I don't know whether he was referring to the short laps thing, but as I recall when able to achieve a stable set-up/riding a bike with an advantage (in his hands
) stoner did do longer stints/race simulations in practice. I think in the latter years at ducati he was always searching for a better setup, which as valentino is demonstrating did not necessarily exist. With the honda this year he doesn't have data/a previous set-up with any of these tracks, and what he did in qualifying yesterday in terms of improving in each run on the race tyre was impressive. I don't think he will win if it is cool and the best choice is the softer tyre, for whatever reason he does not seem to be able to get as much out of that tyre as lorenzo, pedrosa , dovi, spies and simoncelli , the latter in practice any way. All of these riders seem to improve there times by a larger margin than him when they do a qualifying time on the soft tyre.
