Rossi can have whatever tyres he wants as far as I am concerned, as long as the same applies to everyone else.
If they used track data from Lorenzo's camp the day before the race, you may just have something, but thats not what happened, so try again. The article clearly states the tires and compounds and what tracks they would be used were decided well before the season.
I guess in a world not ideal on any other respect not everyone can, even when there is a tyre war, and whomever the race day special tyres were principally made to suit they were abandoned because the process of supplying them at all was too expensive for Michelin to sustain. That's the problem though isn't it. In an ideal world everyone would have tyres suited to them. They didn't and Rossi was one of the few that got that luxury.

I have more problem with pre-existing tyres that suit a rider being taken away for reasons which are unclear, which from my admittedly biased perspective happened to a rider I favoured at least once and probably twice.
That is exactly what I meant, although I don't believe it has been done to Lorenzo systematically as yet unless you count the change from Bridgestone to Michelin in itself as Jumkie does, which I don't at this stage. You mean like Assen last year? The edge treated tyres were withdrawn with safety concerns being cited. Marquez in particular poured scorn on this before the race, saying he knew why the tyres had been withdrawn but didn't dare say why, during a press interview. At that point a very irate Rossi bundled into him and started to shout about braking later and generally changing the subject.
There was no safety concerns over the tyres according to several riders, Assen isn't too hot, isn't abrasive on tyres and doesn't generate massive speed. Indeed Mugello puts way more strain on tyres.
The overriding belief amongst some was that the tyres were withdrawn to put a halt to Lorenzo's momentum, as his speed around a dry Assen track would almost ensure a 5th victory on the bounce.

But yes exactly, I can't see why they couldn't bring all Bridgestone variants to all tracks last year, unless there were overwhelming genuine safety concerns, given the expense of developing the tyres and tooling up to manufacture them has already been incurred and it is difficult to see that shipping costs are much in relation to those expenses.
Similary with the "democratic" riders vote on the new tyre in 2012; why did there need to be a vote mid year when there appeared to be no discernible reason why both tyre options couldn't be available going forward? Given a choice between a tyre which particularly suits Stoner and one which he doesn't like but might suit you how are most riders going to vote, purely on the grounds of self interest? As it eventuated Stoner correctly forecast a safety issue with the new tyre in any case. I don't think that episode was particularly Rossi focused, btw.

Is there anywhere I can find this? Can't find a torrent or anything on the net. Am in Australia and it hasn't been shown here.
