Rossi vs. Stoner (not a troll thread, promise...)

You simply can't even begin to prove who the greatest of all time at anything is.
I agree, but there is one thing that has been proven., Head to head, Stoner was Rossi's superior, and head to head, Lorenzo has been Rossi's superior. i wont include Marquez because of the time difference, but he has been superior to Rossi as well. Im not saying who the goat is or isnt, there is however compelling evidence that suggest it isnt Rossi.

You just lit the touch paper pov...

Boppers always use the excuse that the numbers are skewed because of Rossi's 2 years in hell aboard the Ducati, well now he has the chance to close the gap on the numbers that are overwhelmingly in Lorenzo's favor as he serves his 2 years in hell while Rossi rides the best bike in the paddock. Right now Lorenzo numbers head to head with Rossi are as follows with one season Rossi having a tire advantage.

Lorenzo 40 wins
3 titles

Rossi 25 wins
2 titles

Right now, 4 races into the season, Rossi is 15 races and 1 title down to Jorge in their careers. He has 50 races, let the games begin.

Yes but Povol, while I am one who feels you can't fairly include Rossi's two years at Ducati in the comparison numbers, I'll say the same thing about Lorenzo if he falters on the Ducati, like Rossi. The reason being, he's not on a comparably competitive machine.

At the end of 2018 they will both have spent the same time on Yamaha and the Ducati head to head. The Yamaha has constantly been top notch, while even though boppers are already making excuses as for the quality of the Ducati then to now, the Ducati Rossi inherited was a consistent contender and multiple race winning bike, while the Ducati Lorenzo is inheriting has not won a race in 5 going on six years. Its not a perfect comparison, but close enough to draw conclusions.

Why not base the comparison on first 5 years in the class for each rider? Only head to head is used here because those figures look better to Rossiphobics

An conveniently, the first 5 years in the top class makes the figures look better to Rossiboppers...so how that works?

And basing a comparison on the first 5 years in the top class makes the figures look better to Rossiboppers, see how that works?

So really nobody is right and nobody is wrong then, each to their own and all that, how about the first twenty years in the sport..sport?

Except the first 5 years Rossi had custom tires during a Michelin tier system, Stoner, Lorenzo, Marquez, not 'not so much', not at all.

Hellooooo, have we forgotten about the edge treated Bridgestone's then? You know the ones that favoured Jorge so much! Shall we start shouting conspiracy theories about that one too?

Sure, go ahead and make your case.

Google is your friend, I'm sure you can find something if you really want to...

It's not withheld information, and breaking bad is on tv check it out, widely known fact.

Hahaha at least we back everything up.

Steppin' Fetchit over here dancing.

What good is comparing two riders head to head when you dont use head to head figures. Lets just use Casey's mini bike numbers where he would win 10 races per weekend if thats the case. The whole GOAT nonsense of trying to compare different riders from different era's is useless. We have a unique situation where some of the riders being considered for the title are actually racing or have raced against each other. Not doing so and trying to compare figures when they were racing against totally different riders is disingenuous .

Hahaha, funny how we backup what we say, then you come up with something and suddenly you are crawfishing your way out of explaining your theory when asked to elaborate.

Sounds like a Bopper move.

Can you possibly think of a better way to judge someones performance against anothers than actually head to head. See, its crap like this why you are called boppers
