Rossi to test at Bruno

TwoWheelsBlog has gotten word that Rossi will be testing yet again, this time on James Toseland’s YZF-R1 at Brno tomorrow (Monday), as the Italian continues to gauge his progress to physical recovery. Keen to get back to racing, and save MotoGP from its plummeting ratings since his departure, Rossi has called for a press conference immediately following that day’s testing session, where he’s expected to announce his thoughts on racing next weekend at the German GP. A&R also expects Rossi to make the biggest announcement in MotoGP history on Monday as well.

According to TwoWheelsBlog, Rossi will be test at Brno between 2PM and 5PM local time (5AM-8AM PST), and we expect Rossi will likely only take about 20-30 laps around the track (race distance). Whereas Rossi rode one of Cal Crutchlow’s R1’s at Misano, the Italian will use one of Jame’s Tosesland WSBK spec R1’s while at Brno. Instead of Bridgestone tires, Rossi will use Pirelli’s new Evo tires, which will make comparing his times to WSBK riders more straightforward.

After the testing has concluded, Rossi will make an immediate press announcement, which is somewhat uncommon after testing. This is because even if the test goes well at the Czech track, Rossi isn’t expected to make a definitive decision about racing until taking a seat on the M1, which won’t happen until Germany. Thus both Rossi and Yoshikawa will have to gear up for for the German GP, and a decision to race Sunday will likely come at the last minute.

Although Rossi may hint to his thoughts on returning to MotoGP on Sunday, A&R expects Rossi to instead/also announce his signing of a two-year contract with Ducati, likely for a contract price of €15 million. A subject of speculation for years, 2011 seems to be the year the nine-time Italian Champion finally joins forces with the biggest motorcycle name in Italy. Rossi will almost certainly be joined by Jeremy Burgess and his crew for the move to Ducati, who will then hopefully develop the Ducati Desmosedici GP11 into one of the top bikes on the grid…just as Rossi and Burgess did with the Yamaha M1…and with the Honda RC211V.

Stay tuned tomorrow race fans.

So all this talk of test rides and not one inkling of a secret Duc. ride at all ......... all sounds a bit sus to me. ( ie. the Rossi goes Duc. rumour )

Then again Rossi getting back into riding by using a road bike and then a WSBK bike, and not his MGP bike couldalso mean Yamaha expect him to leave?

the riders aren't allowed to test motogp bikes during the season, just on the official test days. that's why he tests with the next best bikes.

ERM, guys, they're not 'Test Riding' the bike........................................They are testing Rossi's injuries!

Sometimes you lot can be so thick.

Lets put it clearly ...... yes OK its Rossi thats getting tested here, everyone knows/believes that, and its fair enough. However, the point that Ragge has put is that the possible reason that Rossi is not using his GP bike is that the "testing the rider" could be deemed as an excuse to test the bike hence they are using as close to a GP bike as they can.

Nobody is as simple as you are implying, but perhaps your bag of tools, in the mirror, is apt if you believe so.

Otherwise you are implying that he could be using the GP bike ...... what is it to be?

Why must you always talk in circles, like a dog chasing his tail.

Valentino Rossi is already on track at Brno, taking part in his second test session before making a decision on whether or not to race at Sachsenring. The Italian first went out at 3pm, and did a first run of 11 laps, with a best time of 2.01.2. After a stop in the pits, he went back out and lowered his time to 2.00.6.

The ambient temperature is 33° Celsius and the track surface is temp is 61°. Conditions nearly identical to those for yesterday's second WSBK race, won by Max Biaggi.

Also keep in mind that the best lap recorded on Friday was Haga's 1.59.277, while Crutchlow managed a 1.59.571 on the same bike Vale is using.

More news to follow.

Rossi on race 2 pace at Brno!

Valentino Rossi continues to lap at Brno, and it seems that he is doing better physically, even compared to Misano a few days ago.

"The shoulder is hurting him less and the leg is less bothersome", Davide Brivio said from the pits.

The Italian has now managed a series of quick laps under the 2.00 barrier, a pace that would have put him amongst the front runners in yesterday's race. Rossi's fastest lap was a 1.59.7, which is basically equal to the Max Biaggi's best lap of 1.59.763 in race 2.

Cal Crutchlow, who had the fastest lap of the race, managed a 1.59.291 on the Yamaha. It should be added that Valentino's later laps were done with a slightly cooler ambient temperature compared to WSBK race 2.
