Rossi to test at Bruno

He has only ridden this bike one other time, correct? Is he going to try and walk on water, next?

nope he's been doing that for yrs.
<

i reckon he going to try the Tour de France when he retires

i Bopperitus there
<

Maybe he's actually thinking to switch to WSBK... Biaggi must be worried already

I just came here to post about The Doctor's lap time too.

Let me get this straight. A regular WSBK rider put the R1 on pole at Brno with a 1.58.018, then went on to set the fastest lap in Race 2 with a 1.59.291. Today Rossi was on the R1 at Brno and managed a best time of 1.59.135, just five weeks after having his leg plated and pinned after a big high side. Tell me that's not impressive.

Rossi to make Sachsenring decision on Wednesday | The Official MotoGP Website

Valentino Rossi delays Germany return decision

Valentino Rossi has delayed his decision on whether he will make a shock comeback in the MotoGP world championship at this weekend’s Sachsenring race in Germany.

Rossi is still unsure about whether to try and ride his factory Fiat Yamaha YZR-M1 machine after he tested an R1 World Superbike machine at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic this afternoon.

The Brno test followed a surprise return to the track in Misano last week, just 32 days after he suffered a broken right leg.

Rossi completed 46 laps at the Brno circuit, clocking a best time of 1.59.135 on a soft Pirelli qualifying tyre. His best lap on race rubber was a 1.59.8.

That was 0.6s slower than Cal Crutchlow’s best on the R1 in the second race in Brno yesterday with the British rider posting a 1.59.291.

Rossi did though lap faster than former Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider James Toseland. Toseland’s best in Sunday’s races was a 2.00.089. Track temperature though was cooler and more conducive to faster lap times today.

Rossi will now consult with doctors in Italy on Wednesday before deciding whether or not he will attempt to race in Germany. If Rossi decides to ride in Germany, he will need final approval from the FIM Chief Medical Officer before he can participate.

Rossi said: “Today was good, I felt better than in Misano but I still feel quite tired after a few laps and a race will be a much bigger question.

"We haven't made the final decision yet, I need to have some more x-rays on Wednesday and then my doctors and I will consider whether I can ride at Sachsenring.

"Once I'd understood my physical condition today, I had great fun riding the R1 and even did some work on the settings!”

Friday’s opening practice session at the Sachsenring will be just 41 days after the nine-times world champion suffered a compound break of his right tibia after a vicious high-side crash during practice for his home race in Mugello in early June.

But the Italian has made a phenomenally quick recovery, aided by regular sessions in a hyperbaric chamber, and he will return to partner runaway world championship leader Jorge Lorenzo way ahead of schedule.

When Rossi suffered the worst injury of his illustrious career in Mugello, he was adamant he would not rush his return or try and make a comeback before he was fully recovered.

His initial target for his return was the Czech Republic MotoGP in Brno on August 15. But many thought he would delay a comeback until his home race in Misano in early September.

Rossi can’t walk without the aid of a crutch and as well as the strength in his right leg a concern, he’s also not fully recovered from the severe ligament damage in his right shoulder that he suffered in a motocross training accident in April.

Rossi could attempt to ride in Friday’s practice session in Germany and then decide he’s not sufficiently recovered to complete the weekend on board his factory Yamaha YZR-M1 machine.

MotoGP rules allow a team to nominate a substitute after first practice, which would be veteran Japanese test rider Wataru Yoshikawa. He is already entered as a substitute and will be present in Germany.

This dude has been impressing the shat out of me for almost 15 ....... years now... unfuckingbelievable.

I say if Dorna don't sort out proper rules for the upcoming 1000s he and the Top GP guys defect to WSBK

I am a bit confused...he did the 1'59.135 on quali tire or not? If so we should compare the quali times with his fastest...not Crutchlow's fastest race lap. Or did I misunderstand something? On race tire he would have been on the same pace with Biaggi (1'59,7). That is ....... impressive enough, however I did not expect nothing less from him. So how about a wild card in Silverstone?

I think it unlikely Rossi would have had superpole tyres just for tooling around seeing if he can still ride. WSB use Pirelli which rossi has no contract with. Cant see Pirelli giving the doctor a go on their top rubber when he is contracted with their compitition. Maybe bridgstone gave him some rubber for these tests?

I think he was 2 seconds a lap faster than colin edwards when they rode in the 6 hour race in japan quite a while ago now. This would be a problem if he did go to wsbk, I don't think there would be much competition for him. I don't know about the tyres, although I think the yamaha wsbk yeam could give him whatever tyres are normally available to their test riders.

The thing was Toselands 'b' bike aparently, with pirellis. I'm confused jum? How can Rossi break the lap record with a broken leg and no special Michelins??

the guy is a freak, no doubt he'll be on song with the m1 too......

Reading baz making a complete ... of himself yet again in this thread has been one of the highlights of the day......!!

Rossi, Spies, Hayden, Edwards, and Capirossi all defect to WSBK. Bayliss comes out of retirement. Mladin comes out of retirement.

Biaggi vs. Rossi; Edwards vs. Bayliss; Spies vs. Mladin. All at the same time on the same track. I think my head is about to explode.

.... yeah!!

Well it appears this thread is reaching the stage of:

"Boppercalifragilisticespialidocious"

reality/head check:

Rossi was 0.6 seconds off race pace of the WSBK guys.

Thats not close, especially when one should expect he should be trouncng them by that sort of margin.

Sure JB often gets him that extra 0.5 of a second on raceday, and JB was not there, however ........

is he ready to come back?

Its all in the what placing Rossi is willing to accept on his return? 0.6 seconds off the WSBK guys is not great, doubt he'll be up the front just yet, but he would likely be in the placings for MGP.

But he was running a WSBK bike not an MGP bike, so there is still a modicum of "unknown" about the whole thing.

As GPone suggests, "the suspense grows, to the benefit of ticket sales" for Sachsenring
<
............ go the Boppers

Got your tickets Mdub/Rog./Talp ???

Can you tell me how many WSBK guys did the lap times under 1.59.7 in race. Barry get your facts right and if there is anyone who needs head check, its you.
