Repeat of Doha 1 or a Ducati lockout ?

- Martin fast over a lap now can he do it over race distance?
- Vinales looks good but will the old maverick show up on Sunday
- Mir and Rins are going to ruin the all Ducati podium
- Rossi always the Sunday man but maybe not this Sunday

Well Moto3 was as good as it gets. The 16 yr old P.A. looks destined for greatness...

Good race. Martin was impressive. Fabio and Maverick swapped spots... Zarco very consistent. Jack, what's up? Personas Yamahas looked like .....

One of the best races I’ve ever seen. Honestly had no idea who was going to win even a few laps from the end!

Shocking.

Strong sanction required here. Inadvertant contact into corners is risk limited. Deliberate contact on straights has a significantly different risk profile.

Tardozzi's reaction from the pit says it all.

Yamaha will certainly get more wins with these two. Great victory there by FQ. Will they deliver consistently?? I don't think I've ever seen the Ducati's straightline speed so dominant, or is my memory short??

Qatar 2007. Stoner vs Rossi.

They've been like that for a while. At race one there had been several mentions of winds at the track affecting top end speed of the Ducatis. That and I seem to recall something said about them having to reduce fuel consumption mapping a the end of race on at Losail. Looked like Ducati riders were trying to win the race in the first few laps. I can't help thinking Ducati were surprised at how much Yamaha has improved over the winter. About time.

Great to see Fabio on a chassis that really suits him. Last year was so depressing.

Will be interesting to see if Martin continues in this vein.

Mir - still a contender.

Binder impressive - considering.

Repsol Hondas in 13th and 14th proving once again HRC technology is worthless without an "Alien" in the seat.

Miller still hasn't figured out how to conserve tires.

What a cracking race. Yamaha is looking much improved. Suzuki looking same as last year, dangerous.

Ducati. Straight line speed doesn't always win championships.

Miller and Mir. I think there will be more on this, maybe a Suzuki appeal? I'm a fan of jack, but that was a .... move.

Interesting little video with interviews from the two protagonists.

Best race I've seen in a long time.

Miller deserves a penalty, but it was strange to hear everyone defending Mir with "It's the only way they can pass". wtf. That's not acceptable. He made a similar move on Fabio earlier in the race.

He wasn't even close to being in front of Miller so it was a bit of a WTF moment. I'm not sure what happened with Miller/Mir going onto the straight. It seems Mir went wide, Miller stuck to his line and then Mir came back onto the track where Miller was? Miller refused to give position because of what had happened before?

Either way they punished themselves and threw away any chance either of them had of winning the race.

2021 starts much like 2020, Yamaha impressive in the first two rounds. I believe this season will be much like other seasons for Yamaha though. Bike strong at most rounds while their riders take turns in having good weekends. Everyone blames the bike despite it being the most consistent performer on the grid.

Spanish TV did something similar.

They found funny that Miller would go home with some Mir tire marcs on his leathers but then completely threw him under the bus when they impacted again.

They are super biased and its hard to watch.

First priority is always safety, and you can’t or shouldn’t risk a high speed accident to prove a point.

You pays your money and you takes your choice though, and you can’t just barge into someone because his bike has a straight line advantage as you imply. In both cases Mir made an error, and both times this was apparently Miller’s problem rather than his.

I am something of a Miller fan myself, but have to start thinking again that he perhaps doesn’t quite have it, and a 1 year contract with Ducati with obvious replacements on the satellite team is about as tough in terms of pressure as it gets, and something Ducati seem to like doing to their riders. Worked with Stoner I guess.

I can see how Miller would have been frustrated to lose a position to Mir from the ambitious overtake, however it looked too much like Miller was seizing an opportunity for retribution coming onto the straight. Particularly when you can see Miller glance across in Mir's direction shortly before contact. That was a little too heavy handed in my opinion.

Clearly Miller had a lot of pressure to perform after the results of the first round, the fact that a lot of people were expecting the Ducati's to be so strong and also seeing the 'Rookie' perform so well. All of those factors could have put Miller on an extremely short wick. It will be interesting to see how he handles himself in the following rounds.

Impossible for me to have a real opinion since I only half watched the race and got only the commentary live and all the reaction today before I saw replays of the incidents when awake.

I think Miller braced for contact which perhaps means he could have taken evasive action but I don’t think he changed his line. Mir could have conceded position himself since he was the one who committed the riding error.

I'm starting to become more of the opinion lately that Jack Miller isn't going to last very long at Ducati. I have always felt he was overrated as a rider, and he may very well prove me wrong as the season progresses, but this was not a good showing at Losail for him in either race. That's twice he put in a less than ideal performance to start his factory ride off...and yesterday was just hothead ........ that should have been saved till after the race no matter how aggrieved he felt over Mir's moves. I think he's going to be feeling more pressure to perform now which could go either way for him. I just haven't seen anything out of him that stuck in my head outside of the Assen win in 2016. He isn't Stoner and never was. Talented? Sure, just not quite at the level he needs to be to take on those top tier guys. Also his tire management isn't great, so he's going to need to figure out how to be fast while managing the tires better in my opinion. A win at either race would have been huge for him, but he needed a podium at the bare minimum at one of the races.
